Before the first lesson, I wrote to the teacher explaining what I am interested in studying: that I really like cinema, talking about actors, reading about them, and that I even have a favorite actress.

I was deeply impressed by the material she prepared for the lesson. The teacher created a PowerPoint presentation with photos of this actress, an article about her, and then comprehension questions based on the text.

What stood out the most was not just the questions themselves, but the fact that next to each question she clearly indicated, in parentheses, what skill was being practiced and for what purpose — vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, analysis, and so on. This made the learning process very clear and meaningful.

In two or three years of studying, no other teacher had ever done anything like this for me.
That same week, I had lessons with another teacher to whom I had also written about my interests, but there was no reaction — she simply wanted to follow a textbook. The contrast was striking.

This level of professionalism, respect for the student’s interests, and genuine analysis of individual learning needs is exceptional. The teacher did not simply listen, but went far beyond what I expected.

It is clear that she truly enjoys preparing materials and designing thoughtful, well-structured lessons.
For me, this is a real example of what it means to be a true professional teacher.

AmazingTalker has been a great platform for learning Japanese because it gives me a lot of flexibility and control over my learning path. Although my date of experience says dec 5, 2025, I have used amazingtalker for the past 3 years. This was after MANY failed attempts to learn Cantonese. I had take a course at the University of Toronto, tried Cantonese class 101 and Pimsleur. I learned many sayings but never gained a grasp of the language.

My first teacher was an Amazing former Kindergarden teacher from Hong Kong. She taught me jyutping, and so many basics things like colors, dates, rooms in your house, clothing, shopping. She helped me connect with my Hong Kong culture and understand the significance of the Mid-Autumn Festival. I learned so much from her but she no longer teaches at amazingtalker after having a son.

I now have another Amazing Cantonese teacher from Guangzhou. She is the kindest, most positive person I have ever met. She encourages me even when I feel I did a bad job. I'm slowly getting to a conversational level and I believe Amazingtalker has been so important in my Cantonese journey. I recommend it to anyone struggling to learn Cantonese. Ensure you find a teacher that knows jyutping and has a decent grasp of English. You'll be amazed at what you learn. I still review all my old slides from my old teacher. AmazingTalker has been instrumental in my journey to mastering Cantonese!

My Vietnamese teacher has been fantastic. Lessons are clear, well-organized, and tailored to my level. She explains pronunciation and tones patiently and makes me feel comfortable practicing. I’ve improved a lot in a short time and always look forward to class. Highly recommend!

I’ve had many English tutors before, but Mr Chan’s enthusiasm really stands out. He always finds ways to make lessons engaging. Thanks to his guidance, I finally reached the score I was aiming for!

I’ve been taking lessons for more than 3 months with Mehrdad teacher for IELTS preparation, and the lessons honestly been very helpful for me. In our Speaking practices, the teacher didn’t just correct my mistakes. He also showed me simple structures and strategies that I could actually remember and use in the exam. Thanks to that, I stopped repeating the same grammar mistakes and started expressing my ideas more clearly.
For Writing, we went through my Task 1 and Task 2 essays together. The teacher explained where my arguments were weak, how I could develop them better, and which sentence patterns would make my writing more coherent. Even the small tips about linking words and organisation made a big difference for me.
I also brought my homework and practice answers to the lessons, and my teacher always went over them carefully and explained everything in a way I could understand. Lastly, the lessons felt very practical and personalised. I also really liked that I could download the lesson recordings afterwards. It was very useful, especially when I wanted to review the strategies or structures we covered in class. The platform itself is easy to use and made the whole learning process much more comfortable for me. I’m truly grateful because I can see my progress, and I feel more confident now. I definitely recommend this teacher to anyone studying for IELTS.

Honest Tutor Review of AmazingTalker

I have been working as a tutor on AmazingTalker, and I want to share my real experience. The platform gives visibility and new students, but many problems make the work difficult, unstable, and often not fair for professional teachers.

1. High commissions and very low net income

AmazingTalker takes a large percentage from every lesson, and there are extra fees, bank charges, and taxes to pay. After everything, the actual income becomes very low. This is something many tutors mention on review sites, and I experienced the same problem. It is hard to consider this a stable or sustainable job.

2. Unpredictable algorithm and unstable student flow

Your visibility can change overnight. A single cancellation, a delayed reply, or even something random in the algorithm can drop your profile. Even with good reviews and many lessons taught, there is no guarantee of regular students. This instability is stressful and discouraging.

3. Lack of clear standards for tutor quality

AmazingTalker accepts tutors with very different levels of preparation. Some are highly qualified, and some are not. This makes the platform inconsistent and lowers the perceived value of professional teachers who invest time, money, and education into teaching.

4. Customer support is slow and often not helpful

Many tutors, including me, receive generic answers or automated messages. When there are problems with students, cancellations, or payments, support does not always offer real solutions. It creates the feeling that tutor concerns are not a priority.

5. The internal mentoring system has too many shadows

There are many discussions online about the internal mentoring system, and I also noticed unclear dynamics. Some mentors seem to benefit when tutors accept certain changes or pricing strategies. The system does not feel transparent, and sometimes it seems to create pressure instead of real support. It gives the impression that success depends more on “pleasing the system” than on teaching quality.

6. Policies may not reflect European or American standards

AmazingTalker is a Taiwanese platform. This means that some rules, protections, and working conditions might follow local standards, not the typical European or American expectations for educational platforms. This raises questions about whether all policies (cancellations, fees, commissions, tutor rights) truly align with international labor standards.

7. Commission and taxes

A question I always ask myself: are they aware that tutors already pay high commissions to the platform AND must also pay taxes in their own country? The final amount left is very small, and this is frustrating for professionals who offer high-quality teaching.

8. Please do not answer this review with a copy-paste reply

Many reviews receive the same automatic response: “We care about your feedback, we are listening…” But nothing changes. If AmazingTalker wants to respect tutors, it should respond with real improvements, not templates.

Final thoughts
AmazingTalker can be a good window to the world, but tutors often need to work underpaid, under pressure, and with little protection. This is demoralizing for teachers who take their job seriously.

I am sharing this review in good faith, hoping the platform will finally listen and improve the working conditions for the tutors who keep it alive.

I have learned so much Korean on Amazing Talker since I have started using this website. I started to plateau in my learning during self study, and a tutor is exactly what I need to get back on track and push myself. The interface is very easy to pick teachers, try a sample lesson, and book reoccurring future lessons.

Jasmine is kind and patient, and she gives me the courage to learn Dutch.
