There is supposed to be an app for android tablet which I have tried as my 1st edition reader is about to be deleted from the supported list. The android app does NOT work, it wont let you purchase books so what is the point, rubbish!
9.50 a month to read a book adds up…
9.50 a month to read a book adds up quickly, for someone who will read most nights this is not worth it, ive spent over 400 pound total while ive had that memberships with no permanent books to keep. Buy the book and keep it or pass it on. Avid readers i’m sure will disagree
Not the same
Not enough titles released every month. Low quality content and suggestions. Also under new releases, a book is often not available immediately, but weeks or even months away from being able to access, which is misleading . A lot of money, for very little which is disappointing as loved the app up to a few months ago, but not sure it's worth the subscription now.
Great example of planned obsolescence
Great example of planned obsolescence! Both of my kindles have have suddenly stopped working, which I suspect has something to do with the age of the devices. That being said, if I am wrong - the alternative is no better and means the hardware of these devices is poor quality. Given my extensive library I have been forced to buy a new amazon fire table-utterly disappointed! I hope this one lasts me more than a couple of years!
VERY BAD/NON EXISTENT CUSTOMER SERVICE
Books seem to have disappeared off my phone app and when I tried to login in I was not able to get access. The email I signed up with no longer exists so I phoned Customer Service in the hope that they will be able to do some security clearance check and get me access and update my details. However, they will not do it unless I have access to the email I signed up with, refused to do any security checks and basically said I had to setup a new account or get access to my old email address (which I told them 10,000 times in the conversation with 2 different staff that I do not and if I did I would obviously be resolving it myself! Hence the reason I phoned Customer Services in the first place, absolutely useless!!! So all that money I spent on books I have bought in the past and sometimes return to as it is meant to be lifetime access has just gone! Never had this problem with other book companies I belong to like Kobo...they have sorted it! Kindle simply does not care about it customers or problems, it has made its money and we are surplus to requirements now! I would never use them ever again and always suggest any other book company but them and there is plenty of competitors out there now.
Poor Customer service
Kindle has been out of action for around six months due to being misplaced at home.
Upon finding the kindle & after a quick charge I discover that all my purchased titles have disappeared.
Made contact with the Billionaires at Amazon who wouldn't even warrant the cost of the missing articles (around £30).
Freindly Staff but useless Customer service.
Pass the sun glasses please
Pass the sun glasses please. Why? Well my eyeballs are burning because the screen is so bright from my night read!
Well adjust the brightness you say? Well I would gladly if the update had not hidden this function deeper than a hacker stealthfully placing a virus.
Literally guys. Can’t find the brightness adjustment anywhere and ended up having a stressful hour instead of a relaxing read.
So Amazon kindle you can have this feedback because your customer care section for your kindle is about as logical to navigate as the operational map on your devices.
Why couldn’t you just leave it as it was. I’ll never do a software update again. Just bloody leave things alone.
Ps, you can pay for the flippin sun glasses & sun cream I need to wear while reading your device and if there’s any complaints from the aviation industry because pilots are confusing the brightest screen on earth for a runway, you can deal with that also!

Goodbye, Amazon Kindle
My experience echoes that of many others: my Kindle Touch suddenly stopped being able to buy books. On searching around, I found the answer: this older type is no longer supprted for purchases. I have to buy using another device, and then download them. As my Kindle still enables me to browse books and download from my own library, this is just a cynical ploy to force me to buy a newer version, which I will not do. Well done Amazon: you just lost a prolific reader and book buyer.
My Kindle Paperwhite - No longer Supported
I have had a Kindle for years and as i read a lot i subscribed to Kindle Unlimited . My Kindle is a Paper white version and so not like the first gen one which I had originally.
In addition i buy extra books as some of my favourite authors don't come free with Kindle Unlimited,
Recently w/c 15/8/2022 my Kindle refused to download anything. After rebooting several times, trying different wifi networks i find (after two hours on amazon chat ) that they no longer support my kindle and have failed to let me know.
It seems that unless i buy a new one, i now have to download books through another device.
Hardly a week goes by without my ordering something from Amazon Prime of which i am a member or was !
I have cancelled my Amazon account in its entirety as of yesterday.
Incidentally, try leaving a Google review with your dissatisfaction over anything Amazon. You can't, unless someone can tell me how ?
Kindle contact
I messed up on Kindle and ending up with kindle unlimited which I don't want iv tried to contact them but go round in circles I ended up with 2 accounts iv cancelled one but still have to pay definitely not for oldies this site I'm fumming
I was given an Amazon Kindle some years…
I was given an Amazon Kindle some years ago. It does have the advantages of many books in one device, it is marvellous the way the back lighting can be adjusted.
What I find odd is that one of the options given, when reading, of reporting errors within the text, is apparently not automatically passed on either to the author or Amazon. I found this out from a customer service 'chat', after spending over several months literally hours of my time acting as unpaid proofreader, dutifully highlighting words that were misspelt, or homonyms, or the wrong tense or verb - what on earth for?
I also am unable to leave a review on the Kindle bar the number of stars, which is odd as there is a virtual keyboard upon the device, but am expected to log into Amazon, find the book on my list and then leave a comment, which of course nobody has time to do that.
Many of the free books are clearly self-published and need an editor's heavy red pen throughout, the amount of mistakes is boggling. Especially from American writers for whom the difference in the verbs lay and lie seem unknown, who use the wrong words such as supine when prone is obviously meant, plus confuse tenses .
I would really like some sort of plug-in page turn control, like a squeeze bulb, because holding the Kindle up to my eyes, plus always having to reach up with my right hand to turn the page is wearying on the neck and back.
The other main disadvantage is that only Amazon books may be downloaded, and those only from the geographical area the Kindle is registered to. So one would then need to buy yet another e-reader for alternative e-book offerings, or somehow register the Kindle in another country.
I love this app
I love this app. For £7.99 pm I get access to so many books, which if paid for individually would cost me the price of the monthly subscription after 2 books.
I use my phone for this app, and kindle offers a wide range of free books to people who only have access to kindle.
Kindleunlimited offers so, so many more books! There are still a few that cannot be downloaded, but 80%, if not more, of the books on the app can be accessed with this subscription.
I read on average, around 4 books per week. This app gives me so much choice and opportunity in terms of genres and style, it is impossible to NOT find something you want to read. And the options get updated regularly.
People who complain about reading the first in a series free, then having to pay for the rest have no reason for complaint. You are told if the book is a series, and can look at it and research before investing your time.
For such a small price per month, it is definitely worth it and I would highly recommend this opportunity to access such a variety of books

How pathetic that the Amazon Kindle App no longer works on my phone because of some kind of dispute Amazon is having with Google. I have downloaded the Kobo App which works fine. You ain't getting any more money from me Amazon.

An easy and excellent way of enjoying a good book
I've always been an avid reader, and when electronic books were first introduced, I wasn't at all sure .... surely half the pleasure of reading is having a large supply of books on your shelf to choose from. But it was becoming obvious that my vast number of books were taking up far too much room, and I was running out of space to buy any more. So I decided I'd give Kindle a try - and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I started with new titles, but then slowly added books from my existing collection, one by one; and I now have a huge library in one small, easy to carry "book" which I can take anywhere with me. It's actually revolutionised my life; I can enjoy my hobby at any time: waiting at the doctor's surgery, sitting on the bus, reading in bed ....
and I can add to my selection at any time, and for far less than I'd normally pay for a regular paper- or hardback. If you're unsure about whether a Kindle is right for you, I'd say give it a try - you won't be disappointed!
BEWARE THE EXTRA CHARGES
BEWARE THE EXTRA CHARGES
Everytime you download a BOOK 1 you will be asked to BUY BOOK 2 to FINISH BOOK 1 !!!!!!!
ALSO NOT ALL FREE KINDLE BOOKS ARE FREE !!!
SO WATCH OUT FOR where it says FREE because the book is free if you have signed up for Kindle unlimited at £7.99 a MONTH !!!!!!
Kindle Books
Kindle Books - When I have purchased Kindle books I have found that all of a sudden those I have purchased disappear and I end up asking Amazon for a refund. I removed the Kindle app and then reinstalled and as a test download a sample book to my PC which never arrives. It will go to the Cloud but not my PC. Such a shame as it's a good and convenient way to read books.

dreadful is a kind word for the experience. My kindle was 6 months old and stopped working. they sent me a replacement one which would not connect to my wifi. 1 hour later we discovered the replacement was an out of date version and had to be updated - which is virtually impossible when you are not connected to the wifi. 2 computers later, still no luck. sending it back!
