Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 478 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers express significant dissatisfaction with the service, particularly regarding the constant and lengthy advertisements that interrupt content, even for paying subscribers. People feel that the value of their subscription has diminished, as much of the desirable content now requires additional payment or a separate subscription to other services. The overall sentiment is that the service has become too expensive for what it offers, especially with the added cost to remove ads, leading many to consider canceling their subscriptions. Some people also felt that the quality and selection of available content have declined, with many finding little they want to watch or encountering issues with series being cut short. Conversely, a small portion of people mentioned that the service used to be a beneficial addition to their Amazon membership and that some content is still good when it plays without interruption.

Who do you think you are to force us to…

Who do you think you are to force us to watch adds!! I bought this service 10 years ago, specifically, and souly, to no have to watch adds. This is garbage, fix this or lose a customer, that pays a lot yearly for your service.!

Also, if this allowed me to give you zero stars, I would.

Amazon Poor Video

The advertisements are absolutely terrible. I just want to watch an episode of the classic show Reno911 on paramount and can't when Amazon displays 3 minutes of ads for every 5-6 minutes of actual show viewing time. It has gotten to the point where I reminisce on the good ol' days of cable/dish TV with commercials that were actually entertaining and not big pharma BS thrown in my face.

App does not download properly

App does not download properly, glitchy, my list disappeared, OTP does not work, quality of life is just terrible. I only took the free trial to watch Invincible, and I'm 100% sure I will not continue subscription. Even Disney has a better app than this confusing trash

Why do I even bother

Why do I even bother. There are annoying ads and anything good you have to pay for. Really no better than regular cable, 0 value. If I didn’t have Amazon prime for free shipping I’d cancel it.

Appalling quality of video

Appalling quality of video, so dark and grey, no colour to the picture, HDR is absolutely terrible, I can’t even get past the 1 st episode of series as I spend 90% of my time adjusting the picture only for it to continually look dim!
Waste of time

Amazon Prime Video: terrible service

Amazon Prime Video: avoid

The Prime app frequently restarts when used on the LG Smart TV, sometimes every few minutes. A message appears about needing to restart to free up space. The only (temporary) fix that I've found is to turn off the tv, unplug it, and then hold down the remote control power button and the tv's own power button for at least 30 seconds each, then plug it back in. This usually fixes the problem for a couple of days (there might be one restart in that time). It's hardly ideal.

I've come across 100s, probably 1000s of people online complaining about this issue, going back years.

Amazon it seems couldn't give a damn.

Then there's such issues as the aspect ratio not displaying correctly on a series we're watching. It was okay for the first three episodes but now it's stretched badly as the black bars at the top and bottom have disappeared. I've checked and it's now the same on the three we have already watched. There's no way to manually correct it in the app and we can't even correct it on the TV itself because the option is greyed out (somebody idiot at Samsung clearly thought it was a good idea to allow streaming services to have control over this feature when they are in use)

Other issues include trailers playing for the wrong tv series or film, or playing in the wrong language. Often I've also come across descriptions of a film or tv series that was laughably incorrect (they must be using AI).

And then there's the subtitle issue when I paid for a French film. The subtitles only appeared for about 1 and a half minutes - and before anyone had even spoken - and then they never came on again. I checked the reviews and found that at least two other people have complained about this as far back as 2024. I have tried it on two devices with the same problem. The issue is entirely with Amazon. I thought it would be a simple task to report this but no. I spent nearly TWO HOURS on chat with their supposed customer support staff being asked pointless and repetitive questions, being told that they were speaking with some mythical "tech engineers". A waste of time. And deliberate I think.

I was cut off three times and each time a new person supposedly reread the previous comments but it's like most of it clearly didn't sink in or they just didn't bother to read it properly.

My entire impression is of a customer service that has no interest in customers, their problems, or providing any kind of service beyond discouraging you from ever bothering them again.

This multinational corporation owned by one of the richest people on Earth would rather pay staff (probably crumbs) to fob customers off than do the slightest thing to actually fix real problems.

Avoid.

Amazon Prime Video has a solid library…

Amazon Prime Video has a solid library and some standout originals, but the overall experience feels inconsistent. The catalogue covers many genres and the streaming quality is usually good, yet the interface can be cluttered and navigation confusing. Worth subscribing for specific shows, but I wouldn’t call it a must-have service right now.

The app is confusing and flooded with rental stuff

The app is terrible and confusing with more rental content than free even if you pay monthly. The offline function and download for later do not work very often. You get very disappointed when you do not have internet connection and are hyped for the downloaded move/series but when you try to start there is that error message....

Absolutely horrendous platform

Absolutely horrendous platform. I can't wait for my Amazon yearly subscription to end just to never use this shit again. Mixed "free" movies and shows with paid ones (which by the way are 80% of the entire platform, or at least seems so). Other stuff just redirects you to another entirely different platform asking for a subscription there. Why the hell I'm paying 50€/year if I also have to pay to watch almost anything????? And if I'm already paying you, why the hell would I want to pay ANOTHER PLATFORM to watch a movie I found in YOUR PLATFORM???? I'm so unvelievably disgusted, and I'll surely engage in piracy just to evade using Prime Video ever in my life.

Really poor streaming service

Hard to describe but the streaming service has now become a bad joke.

Advert after advert, after advert. Ruins the watching experience but I guess that’s the aim to force you into upgrading.

Most of the shows are old hat, very rarely is there anything actually new.

A lot of what is on offer needs to be purchased.

Okay, you get free delivery but it’s now not worth it.

Cancelling Amazon prime now and will purchase items from elsewhere.

Diabolical lies to persuade you it’s modern not 16 years old

Diabolical. Fake news to promote movies

Underworld: rise of the lycans

They claim it’s brand new 2026…. I smell bull**it! It’s the 2009 original. False advertising, misleading information. Why do they think they can get away with false advertising, miss leading information, extortion under false pretences!

Greedy , exploitative, lying, false representation of products. Deception, fraud! I’m sure a lawyer could think of more
