better to avoid...

unable to use the SEPA mandat I had to sign during contract creation... blocking payments due to this... customer support via chat unwilling to help: you have to call this number... the App is incredibly outdated, all verification mails and text in french despite I switched the App to Dutch... most awkward experience at all

I’ve been a customer for 19 years they screwed me over

I’ve been a customer for 19 years. I applied for a 0% intro APR card for some upcoming large purchases. Amex doesn’t send new cards to a P.o. box even though thats what I listed. My physical address doesn’t accept mail. Amex thinks that every physical address will accept mail. They are out of touch. Now the new cards I won’t get because of this. It will likely be stolen and I won’t be able to make any purchases. Canceling my card will hurt my credit score. American express won’t help me in any way even with my old card. I’m livid and completely disheartened by this company.

The customer service is all but good

The customer service is all but good. If you have call them it takes a very long time to finally get someone. The operators don't understand much.
I had to call several times to pay my membership reward classic with the points I collected. They debited me immediately for the points but never credited me on my card. I had to chat, to call and nobody seems to be concerned.
The card is less and less accepted in shops. I guess the poor service they offer is not accepted by professionnals either.
They tell you that you are a valuable customer but that's it. I definitely do not advise to use their services.

Why would anyone sign up for this card…

Why would anyone sign up for this card ? It isn’t even accepted at most places in Belgium. They give u no bonus for signing up and they give u very less points u need to spend more than your limit to get normal amout of points that u can use to get a flight.

Bank wire transfer takes more than 4 days (even instant payment)

While I have mostly had good experience with AMEX Belgium, I have noticed that the AMEX IT systems are outdated and slow. A Belgium bank wire transfer using "instant payment" on a Friday (21st Feb) and valuta that day, is still NOT registered in the AMEX systems on Tuesday evening (25th Feb). They however DID send me a "you are late" reminder on the 24th, as payment deadline was the 23rd.
How come their IT cannot process "instant payments"? This does not provide reassurance on their workings...

Avoid AMEX Belgium

I have used American Express in both the US and the UK without any issues, but AMEX Belgium is a completely different story. Their processes are the most backward I’ve ever encountered, with zero transparency. Customer service is rude, unhelpful, and unwilling to provide any clear explanations.

Despite being a business owner with all my finances in order, no debts, and a high salary, my application was repeatedly rejected without any justification. I’ve never experienced anything like this with AMEX before.

I wouldn't recommend AMEX Belgium to anyone. I wish I had checked other forums before applying—many people report the same problem. They seem to reject applications at an unreasonable rate without providing proper explanations. Stay away. The decision-making process is biased, and the service is appalling.

Be careful!

They promise a äpt of benefits with their expensive cards, but careful! If you want to actually claim these benefits, be prepared to read theough ALL the fine print and waste time lile a Aldi cupon collector!

Their mentality is comparable to Ryanair, but at least Ryanair is cheap!

Very bad customer service.

I called customer service to pay the membership rewards with my points. The operator made already a first mistake with the amount that he wanted to debit from my card. He was not really knowing the services that his company provides. I had to tell me the amount. The operator told me it takes 2 days to be done. They debited my points immediately. So far (1 month later) I still don't say the credit of the money the debited and should be refunded. I had a chat with another operator. They told me it takes 2 days and if not that I should call back. They cannot call the customer. Of course, nothing has been done. I contacted them again. It is every year the same problem. The customer service is very very bad. Additional to that the card is less and less accepted.

It's really nice to have this card

It's really nice to have this card, having access to experiences and reward, privilege that I like a lot (like upgrade in hotels, access to lounges, special events, complimentary restaurant) of course each experience is of the highest quality it can possibly be.

Non-existing service

Unfortunately linked with my employer to these amateurs. So called service is a total disaster. Would never sign up with them on free choice.

Incompetence or fraud?

Update, they finally have given my money back.
It was incredible that they were refusing the credit for a service I have bought and never received!
It was necessary to insist and lose a lot of times for a supposed straight forward request. Some people need to be better trained.
The consumer protection were informed and my letter to the small claims was almost ready!

I have asked a chargeback for an hotel reservation which was paid in full and cancelled by HotelsClick before staying at the hotel.
HotelsClick cancelled the reservations not only of me but of every customers because they didn't paid the hotels. Then they went bankrupt.
American Express Belgium refused the chargeback because the reservation was not cancellable!
Is it a joke?
I'm going to open a claim to the Judge of the small claims.
