If Rolls-Royce Made A Bicycle...

... it would be an Azor Amsterdam! I got the Oma version, with an 8-speed shifter, a front rack, and a plug-in chain (plugs into the frame lock). I'm 6'-4" / 193cm and 220 pounds / 100Kg and got the 61cm frame size.

The quality of this bike is outstanding. The metal parts that aren't painted are stainless steel, including the spokes, and the parts that are painted are done with a beautiful glossy 3-coat powdercoat (baked on). This bike is built to last decades.

It is an extremely comfortable ride, too. With a Dutch bike, I'm not leaning forward and putting weight on my hands - I just place my hands on the grips for steering. No bumping and jarring to my hands, wrists, neck, and shoulders. It's almost like I'm standing up, and pedalling. The padded sprung seat absorbs the rest of the bumps in the road - it's surprisingly effective. I rode it 20 miles on my first "shakedown" ride and I felt great.

The communication before and after the sale was excellent. The price was upfront for the bike and the shipping, which took care of everything including Customs and all that - there were no surprises. I can wholeheartedly recommend this company for getting a real, proper, Dutch bicycle here in the USA.

Great bikes, and excellent customer service

I have now purchased 2 bicycles from Amsterdam Bicycle Company for my family, and we couldn't be happier with them. The frames, build quality, and all components are very high quality, and well worth the price. If you have never been on a Dutch bike, here are the downsides: they are heavy and you simply won't go as fast as you could on a lighter bike with a bent riding position. When you sit upright, your body acts as a sail, and at a certain speed you can feel the air limiting your pace unless you happen to be biking in the direction of the wind. However, the fully upright seat position is remarkably comfortable for both posture and visibility, and the enclosed chain and other components mean maintenance is lower than on any other type of bike I've ever owned, and I feel comfortable wearing my regular clothes while riding.
