Terrible communication, appalling workmanship, do not use.
So very disappointed. The quoting process was fine, and we made an appointment for our floors to be boarded and a screed put down prior to laying laminate flooring throughout as well as a toilet flush replacing. We moved all of our furniture out of the ground floor and waited. Simon Nash (the contractor) failed to turn up, or contact us. The company made a second appointment a week later saying that there had been a family bereavement. Fine, no problems, I totally understood. He didn't turn up to that one either. And didn't notify us. We had now lived two weeks in a house with no furniture downstairs and barely able to move upstairs as everything was stacked up there. I had a decorator coming and needed the work done. They made another appointment. He showed up to this one, but the quality was appalling. He had used super-thin ply instead of the hardboard I had requested and was paying for. It ripped over the uneven floorboards and screws were left several millimeters proud all over. It was a terrible job and would have made laying the laminate impossible. It made the floor less likely to accept a laminate than it had been before. Simon Nash then claimed at 2pm that he'd forgotten a battery for his drill so had to travel two hours to go and pick a new one up. That was the last I saw of him. I only realised the extent of the awful work he was trying to pass off when I came back to an empty house and tore my socks on the screws that were sticking up from the floor.
I complained, and "Damien" came out to fix it. He came when promised and did a fair job of fixing the mess that Simon had left, but by this point my partner and I had run out of holiday, had lived without furniture for a month and were having to reschedule other trades around Annitrade. We were thoroughly fed up.
Damien accepted responsibility, apologised and said that we'd receive an "apology hamper" to make up for the stress and shoddy job. Needless to say I got an invoice for the work and immediate demands to pay (which I did). They never came back to fix my flush, which was included in the quote and I never got a hamper.
My advice is not to let them over your doorstep. I've found much more reliable tradespeople now!
I co-ran a building company with my ex-husband for 15 years. I'm not an incompetent person and I knew what needed doing, but had neither the time, tools or skills to do it myself. This company patronised me, tried to pass off shoddy workmanship and then failed to complete the work whilst charging me for a premier service.
