Processing payments into your ANZ account is slow compared to other banks. Better off banking elsewhere.

Couldn't use card overseas
Recently went on extended vacation overseas, and our funds weren't available the majority of the time since ANZ/Visa kept trying to text verification codes to the NZ SIM we weren't using. Tried to explain the situation several times via bank mail, with limited success (they got a solution working for a few days only). It would have been disastrous if I didn't have other cards with other banks. Surely people travelling overseas with non-NZ SIM cards is a common enough scenario that ANZ and Visa can put their heads together and come up with a solution? Very disappointed!

Switching Banks
Switching Banks!
Had to seek help from customer service are no help and are lazy. Would give 0 zeros if I could. Just useless. Hire better people!
Whangarei
I had the misfortune to go to the whangarei branch today. I experienced the worst service and staff where extremely rude, I wonder if this was due to the fact I wore hi viz as I was on a break from work. I was told on several occasions to sit and wait, I am not a dog and would prefer not to be spoken to like one. I do pace especially when getting treated with such disrespect. I was there to activate a work visa, and I hope I never go there again, would certainly not bank with them if that is how they treat people.

ANZ stops advice on new credit card statement being available/
ANZ has stopped sending an advice email / notification that a new credit card statement is available. The bank's advice is to look at your online account close to the "normal" statement closing date. Sure, that's easy enough to do. But the question remains - why did the bank discontinue a useful piece of good customer service, which BNZ and Kiwibank still provide???
One ANZ website page
One ANZ website page, said the SWIFT number for international money transfers, was ANZBNZ22, while another ANZ page contradicted that information, and said that it was branch-specific, and the branch [SWIFT number] holding my account (upper Hutt) was ANZBNZ22102. it wasn't that I had to wait ages to get someone, it was two or three different sources, all ANZ sources, contradicting each other.
Useless to rely on
So annoyed, traveled 25 minutes to Twizel especially to make a deposit, bank closed and machine working but wouldn't take deposits.. Totally incompetent

Anz house loan team is very hard to handle .they never support the customers ..I got denied with 8000 dollar for my home loan ...in last moment ..they made me run crazy in two days before house going unconditional ...so I have last moment to another bank and they approved me the loan I asked for
40 years banking with them
40 years banking with them. Have put Millions of dollars through their accounts. And they shafted me on a couple hundred dollars of interest on a savings account which has led me to close all my accounts. That’s how little they think of clients. Imagine their treatment of anyone who provides less business and loyalty. We are nothing to them. Bank elsewhere.
Where do we start
Where do we start? I'm the executor of my fathers estate along with my siblings and we are 50+ years old. My sister is a registered doctor. we were all the same in status and we all had power of attorney as well.
We were trying to close the accounts my father had and wanted to start with statements, but the person we had to speak with seemed very patriarchal and didn't want to get them for us, and in the end didn't.
closing the accounts was a nightmare with the ANZ and our lawyers warned us of it too. they have the worst reputation and I can believe it. I recommend having accounts with multiple banks not just ANZ IF you want to remain with them.
I did go through their complaints system, and no apologies were given, I did manage to get what I wanted eventually, but it could have been done so much better. getting an appointment is a pain in itself and to get extremely poor service and we had all our duck in a row. Our father had died and all we got from the bank was an appointment with an employee who had to look up on their system what he was to do.
Poor form. No compassion, and no real understanding of their own processes.
Make no mistake, the deposit takers legislation will be in place soon, and I strongly recommend that people look at splitting their monies between institutions as there will be a $100,000 limit. If you have to be with ANZ, limit your exposure, spread the risk up to $100,000. There are better banks out there, but then again ANZ didn't set the bar very high
DONT BANK WITH THIS ORGANISATION
The single most ridiculously hopeless bank on the planet.
Daughter got scammed by a fake website. Proved to them it was a scam, proved the address of the organisation was fraudulent, probed the business was fraudulent by providing police reports, netsafe report and others, and they still made her send the goods (which were valued at about 2% of what she paid) back to a fraudulent address which cost half the amount we were scammed. Just scammers themselves in my opinion and have no interest in the welfare of their customers.
ANZ you can hang your head in shame as your behaviour in this matter was nothing less than disgusting.
Service was pathetic
Service was pathetic, Spend 20 min in a queue that did not move. The only movement came from the customers leaving the branch. Shame on you Botany branch!
Rubbish service
These incompetent twits wanted a registered valuation done before transferring security from one property to another, even though the land alone was worth 4+ times the loan amount. Don't waste your time with them, their service is rubbish, and judging by their rating its an ongoing problem. The only thing that might make them improve is if it costs them money.
Absolutely appalling customer…
Absolutely appalling customer service.Went to change my account password in store. Teller told me I had to do it on line. Back home I tried to do it on line, was sent a code and a number to ring, and was told I need to do in in store.
Also on the same day i was in store trying to get visa fraud transactions refunded. Same teller said to call the number on the back of the card. Back home I called the number and was told I had to go in store to do it. This is the worst customer service I have ever come across. Your teller needs more training Lincoln Road branch.
Very bad customer service
Very bad customer service. They make the personal loans very unpersonal and want to know everything you have done instead of looking at want you can afford. They were telling me lies about what I spend my money on I had to look it up to find this out. They submitted a application with false details and would not amend the wrongs they did or relook at it. Can not trust or rely on ANZ at all as this is the 3rd time they have done this type of thing to me and am actively looking to get out.
One Month's Useless Response Times
I have made financial services requests twice. One for a credit card and another one for a personal loan. in both opportunities, the responses were months delayed and when they finally started the application and you said it was no longer required, they still sent you emails insisting on their financial choices.
ASB gave me an appointment in 3 days.
Call centre waiting times of 2 hours minimum is not a good practice. They will not be worried for now, until the number of customers declines enough for them to worry but they rely on the loyalty of long-time members. Leave this bank as soon as you can, they need to invest in their customer service experience but it depends on you so they can take action. I hope the ombudsman can take action imposing minimum response times, but ANZ NZ's customer service is the worst, again, leave this bank as soon as you can these greedy useless financial services providers will never help you when you need them, only you can make the difference.
