No sugar coating !!

Lets just get straight to the point , no sugar coating or up selling shit ok , Cool😄 First impressions i was not impressed, driver was late, didn't talk much obviously limited english , thats ok i did'nt expect 5 star treatment. Arrived at hospital which looked so out of place from the location i arrived in. Red Flags in my mind were going off🤯 Got inside "Wham bam thank you mam" straight into tests and obs no time to freshen up after an 11.5 hr flight.. 1.5 hours after arrival i was dressed in my theater gown and wheeled in for a gastric sleeve. I kid you not , when i got in there and they started to strap me down with things that looked like something from a horror movie , i really thought "B@%ch you gone f@$#d up your whole life" ..Tears running down my checks, no support person My own damn fault thought id be tough enough on my own in a foreign country 😄 They asked are you ok!!! What could i say ? I could have said Ahh no im not ok , im jetlagged and extremely overwelmeld right now !! but no i sucked that motherfucket right up like a pro, pulled my big girl pants on even though i had none on and saidn "Nah Im good lets get this shit done.. I will never forget the tears rolling down my cheeks as i layed bare on the operating table, staring at the light above me trying to hold back the my emotions.
I had to remind myself , this is what you wanted , this is the price you pay ..Iv travelled this far theres no turning back now!! Fast forward to after surgery ..woohhh that after pain hits like a freight train in your chest and upper body region.. I have quite a high pain tolerance but this had me asking for pain relief as soon as i woke up. After care was good but lacked bedside manner.. Overall experience was ok , you get what you pay for results are always dependant on how hard you work for it.. gastric sleeve is not a fix all solution to your problems its a tool to help you..
I will always be appreciative of the life changing surgery Apera has given me 130 kg down to 88 kg in 6months is remarkable.

This is my experience do not base your decisions on what i personally went through we all have different perceptions of situations.. I went there for one purpose and one purpose only and that was achieved regardless of the experience.. No regrets what so ever.. Only regret was not getting it done sooner..

Don’t recommend breast lifting

This is an update of my experience
My experience with this clinic was mixed. In terms of organization, transport, hotel, cleanliness, the hospital itself, and the staff, everything was very well arranged. The people working there were kind and the overall logistics were smooth and professional.

Unfortunately, the result of my breast lift surgery less than one year later is very disappointing. My breasts now look worse than before the surgery. They have sagged again almost exactly like they were before, except now they are operated on and have scars.

The scar around the areola is extremely unattractive and uneven, almost like a zigzag. I showed it to another doctor and he said he had never seen a scar like that before. My areola was moved higher, which initially seemed fine, but there was no support added to actually hold the breast up and prevent it from sagging again. It seems quite obvious that without proper support, the breast would drop again, so I do not understand the purpose of the surgery done this way.

I tried contacting the clinic through WhatsApp to get clarification, but I did not receive a clear response or solution, they said they don’t use suport bra which I don’t see the sense of this surgery.

Now I will have to undergo another surgery somewhere else because I cannot even look at the result. It has been very upsetting and disappointing for me.

It’s a shame because the overall experience at the beginning felt very good, but in the end, the surgical result is what matters most.

Not just about the surgery ♡

Today I am 5 weeks post op gastric sleeve surgery. I'm 29 years old from New Zealand and went to turkey all by myself scared and alone for 2 little kiddies under 2 staying behind with dad. I was extreamly well taken care off and made comfortable. The Dr actually met me by the hospital door and showed me the greatest kindess even when he didnt speak a word of English, lucky there was an interpreter. My room was delightful and luxurious. Everything before surgery was discussed with me in detail before taking me through. I was in quite alot of pain when I woke up from surgery, I'm also very bad waking up from anesthesia. Nobody left me until I was okay - when I was cleared to go i stayed at a very nice hotel that was very accommodating. The dietician met me there and we discussed everything, she had the best sense of humor.
The biggest thing for me was when it was time to go home I had trouble with my flight and couldn't board. I was severely distressed, alone, had no more money and no play to stay or anyway to go home. Apera came to rescue me which wasn't part of my plan with them and took me back to the hotel where I was allowed to stay another night for me to get my flight sorted, it is quite a long drive from the airport to the hotel and I'm so thankful for the driver to come and pick me up. I managed to get my flight sorted and left the next day.
Thank you Apera

From a mother’s perspective

I accompanied my daughter to Istanbul from NZ to have a gastric sleeve undertaken. I must admit I was a tad apprehensive at the outset but my fears were soon very quickly allayed. What an incredible team at Apera; the accomodation, service and support was also outstanding.

The two hours of surgery were a tad nerve wracking for me and the first 24 hours were rugged but it was a means to a wonderful future and we slogged through it. I never left her side for 2 days and we walked through it together. Never once during that ‘tetchy’ first 24 hours did she regret having the procedure done. My daughter was courageous, motivated and determined assisted by these amazing Apera Angels.

I could not fault one thing during the entire process from the minute of our arrival to our departure. Staff were magnificent and consistently and unfailingly kind. The interpreters were friendly and great and the entire process was so expertly and well practised, slick and professionally managed to an extremely high standard in a new University Hospital.

We did in-depth research here in NZ before making the decision to travel to Istanbul. It also helped that a contact of my daughter’s had the same surgery with the Apera group which was immensely helpful.

The change in my daughter even so soon is phenomenal, in all ways. It’s such a pity that our Government does not see the importance of gastric sleeves etc as important, which would save huge ongoing expenses in the future in huge health issues including dialysis, medications, cancer and heart treatment etc, and give people a far better quality of life. Being the ambulance at the top of the cliff doesn’t seem to resonate with the powers that be!

My daughter is covered by insurance for six months after surgery through Apera if anything should be amiss. It hasn’t and it won’t. She has personal contact for a year and can contact them by text, phone or zoom at any time; they also hold regular zoom consultations. There’s an Apera Facebook support group for NZ as they have many NZers going over in groups.

My daughter now back at home and settled is also rigorously following every instruction, the special diet, consuming the anti biotics, Collagen, self injecting blood thinners etc as well as resting, drinking water etc. She brought home a bag full of bariatric foods, lactose free whey protein powder etc etc.

We, she and I, prepared her, and me, emotionally and were fully aware it was going to be tough, and not only physically. I had, and have, complete faith in them and, without hesitation, would highly recommend Apera Group.

My daughter was so ready to have this procedure done. Her mental and emotional state was alarming, was depressed about her weight and how unhealthy she felt; it had morphed into a metabolic disorder and she felt utterly trapped. I was so worried about eventual diabetes and all the associated malaises, including depression, of being overweight. The surgeon said to me, translated into English by an interpreter, after she came back from theatre that now ‘Sophie is going to have a long and healthy life’. I cried with gratitude.

Already about 14 kilos have gone and already her jawline is reappearing and her tummy is decreasing. It’s absolutely miraculous.

Thank you Apera you have saved my daughter’s life. Am extremely grateful ❤️ and deeply appreciate that people can access this support if needed.

Best thing my wife did - glad you chose Apera

I have to say Apera Health Group offered an exemplary service that was both professional and highly informative, ensuring that every aspect of my wifes experience was seamless and reassuring.

From the moment we arrived until the conclusion of my wifes treatment,  we encountered a level of care and organisation that exceeded our expectations.

I have to mention some team members who made this experience exceptional and they definitely need recognition for there hard work and support they are the wonderful and talented Dr Cengiz, Dr.Talha, Asena/Senna, Furkan, Dilara, Zafer
Sena, Meltem and Enes

Upon arrival, the organisation and professionalism of Apera Health Group were immediately apparent. The process began with a meticulously arranged airport pick-up service by a luxurious hummer with cold drinks which eliminated any stress of getting to the hotel

This initial interaction set a positive tone for the rest of our experience, demonstrating the company's commitment to patient comfort and convenience from the very start.

The journey from the hotel to the Apera offices was smooth and efficient. Upon arrival at the office, we was welcomed by a friendly and professional team who facilitated the administrative process swiftly. The pre-check procedures, including payments and preliminary health assessments, were handled with utmost professionalism and care. Every step was clearly explained, ensuring that we felt informed and confident about the upcoming procedures.

One of the most striking aspects of our experience was the exceptional cleanliness and organisation within the hospital. The facilities were immaculate, which significantly contributed to my sense of safety and well-being for my wife. The hospital's environment was not only hygienic but also welcoming, creating a space where we felt comfortable and cared for. This high standard of cleanliness was consistently maintained throughout our stay, underscoring the institution's dedication to providing a top-tier healthcare experience.

The medical procedures, including ECG, X-rays, and the gastric sleeve operation, were conducted with remarkable precision and professionalism. The competence and expertise of the medical staff, from the surgeon to the interpreters and nurses, were evident at every stage. The surgeon demonstrated exceptional skill and knowledge, providing detailed explanations and answering all our questions, which greatly alleviated any preoperative anxiety.

The interpreters played a crucial role in bridging any communication gaps, ensuring that we understood every aspect of the procedures and postoperative care. Their proficiency and patience were invaluable, adding an extra layer of comfort and clarity to our experience.

The nursing care at Apera Health Group deserves special mention. The nurses exhibited an extraordinary level of attentiveness and compassion, checking on my wife every 30 minutes to ensure her comfort and well-being. This frequent monitoring provided significant reassurance, making us feel well-cared-for and supported throughout my wifes recovery.

The timely administration of medication and pain relief was another critical aspect of the exceptional care my wife received. The nurses were diligent in their duties, ensuring that my wife received her medication on schedule, which greatly contributed to her comfort and recovery process. Their dedication to patient care was evident in every interaction, reflecting the high standards upheld by Apera Health Group.

The medical and Nutritionist team provided detailed instructions for post-surgery care and dietary adjustments, ensuring that my wife had all the necessary information to facilitate a smooth and healthy recovery.

Thank you once again  to the wonderful and talented Dr Cengiz, Dr.Talha, Asena/Senna, Furkan, Dilara, Zafer, Sena, Meltem and Enes

Biggest regret of my life

Was left with massive open holes in my stomach after gastric sleeve surgery, heavily infected, was told by the company to ‘leave the holes open they will dry up’ and told I do not need anymore antibiotics. Seen by uk doctors and they told me If the holes were left any longer I could have had bowel problems for the rest of my life. My time in turkey at opera was horrendous, was left in screaming pain after my sugary, the room the surgery took place in was like a underground dungeon and all their tools were kept in a big plastic bucket, and I was strapped into the table. There was no wifi, and only foreign tv so we basically laid in a silent room for 4 days, it was the worst, have barely lost any weight 5 months on. Worst decision Iv ever made. Been left with huge scars after weeks of working with uk doctors, and traumatised by that ‘surgery room’

Brilliant experience other than the day…

Brilliant experience other than the day trip

You arrive and it’s a little confusing and crazy of where to meet the driver your then awaiting other people that come on the same day which was no issue we was in a nice minibus with aircon and WiFi so can’t complain was also provided with cold water.
You’re taken to the hotel which is spotless. Clocked in and go to your room which is lovely the aircon is hard to use but if u ring up they help you immediately
The next morning we was picked up and taken to a small clinic to be weighed and pay the staff are very nice and helped with my nerves.
We was then taken to the hospital we was given our rooms and shown to them absolutely spotless!! I have a phobia of needles and my worst nightmare was to have a cannula fitted but I didn’t even feel it!
We was taken for tests the doctors can’t speak English but the interpreter is there all the way and she’s so nice!
The surgeon actually came to me first he told me I was too nervous and to have a pre med to calm me down then wait but I asked to go then and there as I thought if I saw someone return and look poorly I wouldn’t go through with it, he high fived me lol and took me straight away! The surgery went well and the place is ran like clock work I didn’t feel an ounce of pain, the day after I felt a little sore they didn’t waste time and came and gave me an injection!
When I was discharged I was offered to go on the day trip to the bizaar I said yes due to them saying plenty of places to rest with water and aircon and the bus was going to be there the entire time for if I wanted to get back to the bus
This wasn’t the case the bus left us there and there was just a really ran down Burger King I fell poorly I wasn’t long post op and had walked miles and then when the bus came one of the companions was extra late she was having her dinner! We still had to wait in the burning sun!!
On return to the hotel which took around 3hr due to traffic I went to bed for the rest of the evening.
We was then picked up for the return flight the next morning.

Will certainly return but won’t be doing the trip.. lesson learnt. I’ve lost 4.5st which I wouldn’t have done without apera dr ertans given my life back.

Hair transplant

Hair transplant Procedure went well, surgeon was great , when I booked the procedure I was informed I would have my own hospital room , unfortunately I was removed from my room I had paid for after the procedure and told with wounds all over my scalp to sleep on a sofa bed in my wife’s room. It took for me to display how unhappy I was before it was acknowledged the room was my from the original agreement and was given a Starbucks coffee to say sorry 😔 and provided another room. transport hotel accommodation was lovely nurses were fantastic. on after care products I was provided what I paid for and given a month 3/6 package which was paid for but didn’t offer any additional option to buy more products which was a great shame as other procedures were offered products relevant to the procedure.

Overall mixed experience the surgeon nurses accomidation and transport was great .

Negatives no after care check ups to see progress or offer advice.
No products offered compared to other procedures where they have a full demo and arrangement of products had to resource and pay more for shipping costs.

Chaotic organisation/process

Had operation 6 days ago. Wish I had had the experience that it appears the majority receive.
1. Was instructed to stop taking my HRT and blood pressure tablets a week before operation. When I got to the hospital they said this was incorrect and I should only have stop day before.
2. Informed my operation would be on the Monday right after I landed ( even though didn't land until 6.20pm ). I queried this and was told operation would take place around 8.30pm ( hospital is 1 hour from Istanbul airport!). Stopped eating 12 hours beforehand to be told when arrived at hospital that my operation was now sometime Tuesday !
3. Went to sleep at 10.30pm after a long day of flying to then be woken up at 12.15am to go upstairs and pay rest of my money.
4. Every night following operation whilst in hospital, woken continually between 11.30pm and 5am for tests. No tests ever done during day which you would expect. This may be due to being on 6th floor - think those on lower floors got better test times possibly?
5. Informed them I was allergic to plasters, woke to find I had plasters on every site incision which then blistered horrendously.
6. Wasn't offered market or boat trip .
7. Dietician presentation ( in my opinion) was chaotic and confusing.

On a plus, the nurses, translators and surgeon were friendly and my surgery (so far) appears to have gone well.
