Absolutely disgraceful hotel

Absolutely disgraceful hotel! We stayed at the Apex last November. When we booked we made sure that the hotel knew that my 78 year old mother required a synthetic room as she is highly allergic to feather and down to the point where we nearly lost her due to a reaction to a feather pillow. The hotel acknowledged our request at the time of booking. When we arrived we checked my mother’s room only to find a feather and down duvet and pillows. My husband went to the reception immediately and advised them of this and to also show them the correspondence between ourselves and the hotel regarding our request. They advised us there would be a full investigation, into how this oversight happened, and provide us with an explanation. To date we have not heard a word from the hotel despite us messaging twice to ask, not even the decency to acknowledge our email. Furthermore when we went for breakfast the following morning we were sat at a table that hadn’t been cleaned. They told us to go and get a coffee whilst this was cleaned for us. Thereafter they forgot about us, serving guests that had sat down after us and even had their breakfast! In the end my husband had to get up and ask the waitress for a menu. I would not recommend this hotel and will be taking our grievances further now due to the complete incompetence and disrespect.. avoid!

Apex Waterloo Place, Edinburgh

We held our small wedding reception at the Apex Hotel, Waterloo Place, last year. They very kindly gifted us a free stay for our 1 year anniversary this year. We had our stay on Sunday just past and it was honestly perfect. The staff on reception were friendly and helpful upon check-in, where they advised us that we had been upgraded to a suite instead of a double room. The suite was stunning, with the biggest comfiest bed I have ever slept in. We didn't have our evening meal in the hotel but we did have breakfast and it was lovely. The brioche french toast is a MUST. After breakfast we headed to the pool, where we spent some time in there and in the sauna. It's nice and quiet down there.
Cannot fault anything about the hotel or our stay. It was perfect. Seriously considering making this an annual thing for our anniversary as it was so nice. Location is perfect too as it is very central and just along from the train station.

Apex insider not worth the bother

Really quite miffed. Apex insider isn't worth a sook. So much for the discount deals! Called reservations to see if there was deals for this weekend available, as usually I prefer not to use Booking.com (Knowing they receive much less than we pay) Alas, told the girl it was £20 cheaper on booking.com and she wasn't bothered in the slightest. Not the best business model, not the best customer service. Decided to stay at the Radisson instead.

Absolutely not worth the £304 we spent…

Absolutely not worth the £304 we spent on 2 nights in the Apex Bath.
The room was dirty, mouldy, dusty, noisy and it took until 15:30 for the room to be cleaned, we had gone back to the room twice during to day hoping to relax for a while before the evening only to find the room hadn't yet been cleaned, which is very surprising considering what a bad job the cleaner did! This hotel was advertised as a luxury stay, I would have rather stayed at home in my own bed, this was a treat for our anniversary and we were very disappointed.

Room 305 Apex Hotel, Bath!!!

We stayed in Bath at the Apex hotel for two nights. Overall we found the hotel to be adequate and was in walking distance of Bath itself. On the morning of our departure I noticed that the quilt cover had come undone. To my horror I found the quilt to be disgustingly stained and there were also signs of blood stains. I took photos and a video of this and on checking out I mentioned this to the receptionist who gave me a customer service card telling me to contact the department regarding our complaint. When we arrived home I immediately sent the photos by email to Apex hotels regarding our complaint. Ten days later there was no reply so I sent another email. I still have had no reply. Our thoughts are we slept in a dirty bed for two nights without even an apology!

Fabulous stay at Apex Temple Court Hotel…

We had a fabulous stay at Apex Temple Court. – Perfect central hotel in smart location, walkable to tubes/bus stops, with affordable modern, spotlessly clean, spacious rooms and beautiful bathrooms. We asked for a quiet room, which was easily accommodated. We very much appreciated the friendly and helpful reception and bar staff.
There’s a large outdoor courtyard space, and a quiet, comfortable lounge and bar area offering drinks and coffees, with attentive yet discrete service - just right – great for waiting for transfers, reading, finding your equilibrium away from the London bustle. We enjoyed relaxed post-show cocktails (exceptional!) by the fire with our friends one evening, and despite staying on one of their busiest winter weekends of the year, it didn’t feel that way at all.
We are particularly grateful to Operations Manager Chris who was so kind and helpful in quickly resolving an unexpected issue with left luggage - it’s rare to find such stand-out care and professionalism these days - testament to the ethos of the hotel and the personal touch and understanding that makes so much difference to guests.
It was our first stay, but this will now be our go-to hotel for future London visits, and we are already planning our next trip! Thank you to everyone at the hotel who made our stay so enjoyable and memorable.
A well-deserved 5 stars from us!

Constant noise coming from room 323…

Hotel Review

We booked this trip hoping to create lasting memories as a ‘normal’ family, knowing it might be our last one together with my mom having stage one dementia and my dad still struggling to recover from his illness. Unfortunately, what was supposed to be a special Christmas getaway turned into an incredibly stressful and disappointing experience.

From the very first night, there was constant noise coming from room 323, disturbing my almost 80-year-old parents, who were woken up repeatedly. Even I, staying down the hallway, could clearly hear the noise. Despite bringing this issue to the attention of the night manager, who assured us after the first night that the guests would be removed if the problem continued, absolutely nothing was done. Those promises turned out to be just words.

This went on for three consecutive nights. On the fourth night, I was forced to confront the people in room 323 in a way they only understood—something I had hoped to avoid entirely, trusting the night manager to handle the situation as promised. I was appalled to find eight people in the room once again. Only after my intervention did the noise finally stop, but by then the damage was already done.

To make matters worse, the hotel’s ‘solution’ to four nights of broken sleep and stress was offering a complimentary breakfast. They called me in my room at 8:50 AM to propose this, despite knowing we were leaving at 10. This gesture completely missed the point. We didn’t need bacon and eggs as a quick fix; we needed a proper stay, restful sleep, and proactive hotel management. Offering breakfast felt more like ticking a box than genuinely addressing the impact their inaction had on our family’s trip.

My parents are still recovering from the stress and exhaustion caused by this nightmare of a stay. The total lack of empathy and urgency from the hotel management baffles me, and I will personally make sure this is not the last they hear from me.

What should have been a peaceful and meaningful holiday for my family was completely ruined. The lack of action and accountability from the staff was unacceptable. We will NEVER come back to this hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a restful stay.

Do not book here to stay or eat

Do not book here to stay or eat. Stained pillow cases , cracked coffee cups, not enough towels or coffee…. Furniture threadbare.

Festive dining, food disgusting and cold, no service, no decorations in a soulless empty breakfast room, no staff, very rude customer service no goodwill despite family travelling 3 hrs in a Storm!

Absolutely appalling service, manager basically says we are long as we didn’t Raise at the time so is not interested ….apart from we did …. Wrong drinks, no atmosphere, very noisy loud party right behind us in a Seperate room…. We told them it wasn’t festive and was comparative to eating in a school hall!

Don’t waste you 36.95 for festive dining unless you want a disgusting meal, no staff, wrong drinks! No music and no crackers… one piece of tinsel doesn’t make it festive fyi! No decorations in the room and 17 hugely disappointing guests, and a very rude unhelpful events manager who clearly has no concept of customer service.

Apparently they don’t care about customers or repeat trade.

Don’t risk it, you will regret it!

£200 A NIGHT is over the odds for a weekend stay.

• SPA?? Basement small cramped wet floors brightly lit pop music not spa music. Kids everywhere babies nappies in a bucket poolside. !!! Hardly what you would wish for if you were looking for a relaxing spa in Bath. My poor wife didn’t even go down there as I had booked it for her birthday and I explained to her I was sorry but it was not how the photos portray it.

I explained all this to the reception manager? He went straight into defensive mode rather than sympathising. No apology, no compensation, just rebuttal.

We have recently been to a lovely spa hotel where it was serene so a very disappointing contrast to how it should be done.

Nice room. No view. Nice bathroom. No robes. Tiny wardrobe only good for max 1/2 nights.

Not the best experience

Stayed for 1 night, not the best experience. Hotel seem under staff, long wait to be served with drinks or food at the bar. Towels in room not clean, and service not the best. Attention to detail required, dirty plates left on table and staff not really interested in good customer service. On the plus side good location.

Impossible to contact the Apex Waterloo Place

Impossible to contact the Apex Waterloo Place Hotel Edinburgh this evening on their direct number where I currently have a reservation that I need to amend. Not a chance.

Tried calling their 0800 reservations number. Still impossible to get through.

Does not inspire confidence when you cannot contact a (mainstream?) hotel at 18:20 in the evening on a week day.

Going to cancel reservation and seek elsewhere. Never again Apex.

Every day in every way our stay in the Apex Quay Dundee was excellent.
A hotel that ticks all the boxes. The kindness of the staff is unbeatable. Even the weather was very good for November. Good memories last a lifetime

Trust me just find somewhere else to stay

Extremely disappointed with our visit. When we arrived we received a free room upgrade to a family room which I was left feeling confused about as a free upgrade makes me feel great but the actual room we received is exactly the same as the one we booked but just that it had a second bed in as well so it just left me feeling a bit meh about it as in reality it isn't a upgrade but that isn't the bad part of the stay.

The quality and cleanliness of the room and rest of the hotel was really poor
Marks on the walls
Cracks In the ceiling
Broken seals in the bathroom
Broken lamp switch
Mould in the shower
Shower head leaks
Shower head dirty
Dust everywhere
Walls were thin so you could hear the people in the next room
Sneeze marks on walls
Other liquid marks near the headboard of the second bed which I'm hoping isn't what I think it is but I guess it means the last person to stay out room had a good time. It's just a shame it shows how poor the cleanliness is.
Following up with a pube in the bath.

The rest of the stay wasn't much better, the lifts had liquid marks which I'm not sure if someone sneezed or spat in them. The showers in the pool changing rooms at first look like a good big rainfall shower head only for you to turn on the shower and half of the holes in the showerhead don't let water out due to having that much limescale build up which again just shows you how often things are cleaned in the hotel.

My partner and I decided to have a meal in the hotel's orange artichoke restaurant as it had a few good reviews online. The food we had was extremely disappointing. It was mediocre at best, not much flavour in the food and very little seasoning used. As an example the first thing which came to my mind when I tried the fries was McDonald's fries except with less salt. My starter of French onion soup was okay in flavour but had a few though outer layers of onions in as well and weirdly it was served with basically half a loaf of bread cut into two large chunks. The onion rings were dripping in oil. Raw carrots served on the cooked vegetables side. Old wilted leaves served on the side of the dish.

We expected much much better for the price we were paying, again it was extremely disappointing.

Before having the meal we booked to have breakfast in the hotel as well but decided to cancel the breakfast as after eating the evening meal did not have high hopes with what is served in the orange artichoke.

Later that evening as we were going back up to our room we were propositioned in the lifts by a drunk guy and what I believe was a call girl who was staying in the hotel. Which we were not expecting but just shows you the class of clients the hotel normally takes.

On the day of checking out our key locked up out of our room early even though we had a late check out.

If you are looking at staying in this hotel I would have to suggest finding another place to stay and another place to eat.

If this was a cheap budget hotel the quality would still be poor but at least you could say "well it's cheap of course they don't care, we just won't stay here again" but the price you have to pay for the room and food, it does leave a dark mark on what should of been a nice city break.

Really poor standard of food quality…

Really poor standard of food quality and value for money in the restaurant at Apex in Dundee . I emailed the hotel 3 times to resolve still not received a response to my complaint. I have also tried to escalate outwith the hotel however there appears to be no way of raising a complaint to a higher level within Apex hotels. Extremely disappointed indeed .

Not good with food intolerances

Nice dining room, but be careful if you eat there. My specially prepared "gluten free" meal was most definitely not gluten free. I am now regretting going there and will take a packed lunch next time.
