Lifetime Warranty, but with newly introduced restrictions.

I have a set of Gear Wrench ratchet spanners which I've owned for about 10 years, which for the most part have been terrific. The set was a gift at the completion of a project for a job well done, however, in that time I have now had 2 of the spanners fail. The first was replaced without any fuss nor muss after about 6 years, while the company was still based in Albury, however the second spanner will not be replaced, under their supposed, "Lifetime Warranty" as I do not have proof of purchase. I offered to send photos etc. but nope, not good enough. When this item was purchased they couldn't have stated that the receipt needed to be kept, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to have the first item replaced. And as a gift, traditionally you never let the recipient know how much you spent, so a real catch 22 it seems. My advice. Don't buy any of these tools as a gift, it's not worth the hassle. Incredibly poor form.
