Double dipping on contents insurance

An appalling experience! We moved interstate and made arrangements to cancel the contents policy at our old address and start it up at the new one - which meant the contents were also insured in transit. 3 months later, I got a renewal reminder from APIA for the contents at the old address and, when I rang to say "this policy was cancelled 3 months ago" they said "no it wasn't - and if you want to cancel it now, we can only refund the last 30 days". I lodged a complaint and they said they had reviewed all of the telephone conversations and I never requested a cancellation. I pointed out that this made no sense because they had taken my premium for the contents at the new address and, on the basis, could they not accept that the contents had moved from location A to B

I have paid these criminals for over 7…

I have paid these criminals for over 7 years without a claim, fridge dies after lightning strike so I put a claim in. Didn't hear boo from them, had to call them twice only to be told from an overseas call centre that my claim is still in progress and review? I asked to be put through to someone in Australia, ended up speaking with someone in Brisbane only to be advised exactly the same thing. Told them to shove it and return my $750 excess, I will just buy a new fridge and look for a reputable insurance company instead. It's so true you get what you pay for in Australia, it's probably better to pay a little more and have outstanding customer service then to pay minimal and get stuffed around by these criminals. I wish I could give them a zero rating..I just contacted Apia cancelled my policy and will continue a better experience with Budget Direct..

Absolutely garbage

Absolutely garbage, my poor mum a retired 60+ year old woman had her car stolen which is bad enough as it is, once the car was recovered and the police had finished with it the insurance company APIA had her car sent from bunbury up to rockingham for evaluation only to write the car off send it off to auction without giving her any notice or a chance to retrieve any of her things out of the car, multiple sentimental items only for apia to turn around and tell her she needs to provide evidence "reciepts" that the things in her own car are actually hers so she can not retrieve them but so they can decide an estimate and pay her out.... Sentimental things have no cost you idiots they can't be replaced. How hard is it to communicate with your customers and give them access to their own vehicles to collect their things before you send it off. I wouldn't use muppets if my life depended on it.

Couldn’t agree more with these 1 star reviews. Had an incident and needed to get our car repaired. We were told in August we had to wait until November for the assessor to look at the car. We personally managed to short circuit the wait and were then told our car would be repaired by April 2025. My husband has now been waiting on the phone for over an hour in response to a message to call them. All good if you never have to make a claim. I will be looking around and cancelling all 4 of my policies.

What an absolute bunch of criminals

What an absolute bunch of criminals
I have never had an experience that has depressed me more than the one I had with apia when they deemed my car a total loss.
These pack of co@#$ tgsts should not be dealing with the general public.

The lady I dealt with over the phone was an absolute cow and should look at getting a job selling manure to other cows . What a witch.
I recommend to not go to aipa and their shocking reviews say it all. Pr!@&$ that they are

I had to call this company to change my payment details. I HAVE NEVER BEEN SUBJECTED TO SUCH A LOOONNNGGG DRAWN OUT SALES PITCH DRIVEL IN MY LIFE.It just went on and on. By the time you get through to an actual person, you are that wound up, almost to the point of a nervous breakdown. It would be the worst, longest drawn out rubbish I've ever heard. I honestly believe it is purposely designed to push you to the edge of sanity. Why can't a person just ANSWER THE PHONE!
I have zero interest in who owns the company, whether the advice given in biased or not or any of the other rubbish you are forced to endure. I know all companies do this now, but this took it to a whole new level.
I really only want to deal with a company that has an office locally. Even their own complaints form doesn't work!!! So much more I could say but after trying to send a complaint directly to apia, I've had enough.

Been with this company for years had a driver lose three demerit points first in years increase the green slip by over $200. These insurance companies are a law to their own. Would not recommend Apia at all. Also went to put in a claim last year. Never heard back, no one rang me. Went to overseas department ended up just paying the repair myself.

APIA, IS THIS FAIR? SERIOUSLY?

Apia MVA075722958
I hit a small animal, mid June, requiring new bumper bar, plus black grill piece on bumper bar. Got claim number. Went to local (120klm round trip) smash repairs with claim number, and all my Apia information, including my name, email address, mobile number. Weeks go by. Phoned smash repairer. Smash repairer says that they haven't done account up. I said it's under my insurance. I gave you previously, all details, when I came in personally on a piece of paper. Also, I phoned APIA and got them to send required paperwork (claim number) to smash repairs email address. Weeks go by. I phone smash repairs, as have big trip with 'dodgy' loose bumper bar. Smash repairer said, bring car in for colour coding. I did that on a Friday, and they said come in early (7.00 was fine) Monday. Previously, they said, that they wanted the car for three days! I reasoned, to them, that could they paint bumper bar? and then when dry, fit in on my car. So got that agreed on, as I live huge distance away, (which they already knew). Arrived on time, waited, the man, apparently hasn't arrived, who does the fitting bumper bar job. Waited for some time, until (obviously angry) man arrived. They said it will be ready in 5 hours! (noon) I said I have no car, do I have to wait? Because I was to understand, that it would be fitted if I came in early (which I did). Man speaking to me, raising his voice to me. I reasoned with him, he came to the conclusion it was, pre arranged, and it went ahead. Leaving the smash repairers, into town (about 5 klms) I noticed immediately, the bumper bar, had two 'puckered spots', plus, pressing on bumper bar, it was ill fitting, and moveable. Tried phoning APIA with no success. Once Apia saying, that they sent a form to my email address. Never received that. So what email address? I've given Apia my new email address, over past year, couple times., As it never gets changed regardless. So give it herewith.
I got smash repair company to also take photos. Man who fitted bumper bar came out (angry man) didn't say anything. Stormed off, leaving receptionist and her owner husband, and myself. They said that they would contact Apia, as they say it's the car manufacturers fault. (Car only 18 months old). APIA representative reading this? Please look at my photos. I showed my car to two independent qualified firms, who both agreed, in total, without hesitation, it is far from satisfactory. Why can't I get it fixed and replaced then? I put a review on Product review, for APIA to help me, before I published my one star review.
With no answer. Surely I'm entitled to a reply? The smash repairer has had problems with another car insurance company NRMA. Its not hard to see why. Please refer me, APIA, to another smash repairer, so I can get another car bumper bar, back on, like new. Besides, all this, the paint was scratched, because paint was not fully dry on bumper bar? Because I bring car in Friday. Its Monday a freshly painted bumper bar is fitted. See photos., So how do I upload photos? please, it will say it all. No discussion needed. Show the readers how bad the job was done. How I'm being ignored. By the way the review on trust pilot aying that Apia is also owned by Ammi and Suncorp was very helpful to know for me. Just brought a property, and wondering who to insure property with. So the reviewers suggestion, for a huge saving, by looking at Budget Direct was VERY helpful. I'll phone Budget Direct on Monday for a quote. Thank you.

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS INSURER

DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS INSURER
Landlord Insurance Policy is the WORST in the market.
Unfortunately. I discovered this when making a claim.
Wanting a $400 excess to pay out $240 in lost rent.
ZERO COVER FOR FIRST 4 weeks
ZERO COVER FOR CLEANING AND REPAIRING the property to find a new tenant after the previous tenant abandoned the property in an appalling condition

Wasn't happy with the customer service provider for a number of years, now but you know how it goes, life happens and you forget to renew or update your account.
Having said that I talked with Brad in the South Australian office for an hour or so and I must say I was fairly happy with the outcome. My car insurance is next to be resolved, if this happens I'll give them 4 stars for now!

Apia doesn’t support senior citizens

I am very very distressed and disturbed after being ‘interviewed’ by Apia in relation to a current claim that has not yet been resolved. I am a senior citizen who stupidly believed the hype that Apia would be a supporter and advocate for senior citizens.. that’s why I signed up with them in December 2014. I was totally duped. Yesterday I had to endure 1hour and 15 minutes of badgering, intimidation, threatening and bullying in relation to my current claim for storm damage to my roof. Nothing has been resolved and I never want to speak to them or anyone who represents them EVER again. I had to take a sedative after the interrogation and it took me 24 hours to recover from their revolting bullying. Regardless of the final outcome of my current claim, I can’t wait to sack them as my insurer. I strongly advise other people to find an alternative insurer. Their treatment of me (a senior) has been nothing short of disgusting. 😢

Woeful to deal with!

Woeful to deal with!! Over an hour on hold after being shuffled from one "consultant" to another. Had appointment for car to be assessed at the Panel Repair, Apia rep no showed, then discovered they hadn't even appointed an Assessor!! Wasted over an hour on phone to be "assured" someone would call to progress claim. Never happened, called them to find out what they are doing about my claim, currently still hanging on phone waiting to get something moving.
Appalling customer service, but totally understandable now they're associated with Suncorp & AAMI another 2 keep away from insurers.

Huge dollar rises over the past 4 years.

I have been with APIA for a number of years with no claims. In fact since 1981 I have made 2 minor claims. One in the 1980s' and one early 2000's as a landlord with other companies. And not one claim on a car since 1975 till now. There are no benefits in any Insurance company for having an excellent record. My complaint is fee increases. I am sick of paying for the latest FIRE ,and FLOOD experienced in another state. My Insurance cost went up $800+ since last year, $500+ the year before etc etc. I live in a rural city without the risk of flood or fire. Suncorp and the takeover prove that greed is alive and well. Insurance is for the investors on the stock market, not for those that take out Insurance.

No idea how to treat deaf ppl

Seriously, made a phone call, difficult to do for a profoundly DEAF person.
Called via Convo, lady was rude, got all the required info re a quote we requested re new caravan. Promised to send quite at conclusion of phone call. Still waiting 5 days later. Contacted them via email...came back pls call.....I'm DEAF!
Forget it, wanted me to ring again...no way first call wad 45 mins via Convo, they had all info required.
Seriously, rude, no DAT, rudeness is their middle name.
77 yrs old I am..steer clear of APIA!
Simply so rude, unhelpful no matterbhow many times I tell them I'm deaf, it's always "please call"

I am annoyed with Apia

I am annoyed with Apia, as they have lost all customer care. We put a claim in 2.5 weeks ago, damage to our car was not our fault 100% i gave them the other drivers details along with his AAMI claim number. They have written off my car, which is ok and given us a hire car, once the email came with the details etc they gave us 3 days to get a new car before we had to return the hire car, we dont have another car, so its on foot on the country. I am so angy with them for not caring about two pensioners, when i asked about having the car for two more days so can look for a car to purchase they blatantly said no. No compassion, no care last time i insure with them. I would never recommend Apia as an insurer for pensioners.

APIA gets it.

Apia has been so professional, responsive, courteous and across detail in my recent car crash write off, that I am amazed. I am a traditional insurance company sceptic, but the Apia team have reversed that for me. Thank you APIA. Roger Clifton.

3 months to settle a claim for a stolen car

After my car was stolen in February this year it took APIA 3 months to process and send the payout amount. I spoke and received assurances that never happened with 3 customer service people via two x 1 hour phone calls waiting for service and 3 emails that were never responded to. They told me my claim had been lodged and then 5 weeks later told me it hadn't been. To top it off they continued to charge me monthly payments for a new insurance policy I didn't need or request (after my current policy had finished) or refunded as requested which I emailed about to stop payments (ignored). After a lifetime of paying for various insurance policies with claims occasionally APIA receive the title of the worst customer service I have come across. They are under Suncorp as is AAMI so my advice is use someone else to insure. I wish I had checked how many 1 start ratings they have before I used them.

APIA spend lots on advertising it great customer reps. The reality is opposite.

Small vehicle claim no fault when parked. Was told no excess would not be applicable.
Demand the next day for excess payment!
After 5 -6 hours waiting on phone systems to talk to a rep, gave up and emailed issue.
Rep called asked to bank details, nothing after 10 days, Tried again to be directed to another area who wanted the same bank details.
Another week and again emailed to be asked for same bank details yet again.
Seems APIA has no real integrated data systems as they have bank details from first application, and their reps don't have a CRM

Clearly a month later after providing same information very dissapointed in their total lack of service. Obviously Management dont care
