  1. Software Company

Written by the company

Appish is a one-person Mac software studio built on a simple idea: you should own your Mac and your tools. Every app is a one-time purchase. You buy it once, you own it forever, and updates are free for life. There are no subscriptions, no accounts, and no tracking. Everything runs entirely on your machine and your data never leaves it. The apps cover the gaps macOS leaves open. Soundish adds the per-app volume mixer the Mac never shipped, letting you control every app's volume independently and route audio to different outputs at the same time. Lockish protects individual apps like WhatsApp, banking and email behind Touch ID, without locking your whole screen. Layoutish saves your complete window layout across every monitor and desktop, and restores it with one click after macOS scatters your windows. Dockish rebuilds the Mac dock with multi-monitor support and iPhone-style folders. Every app includes a free 7-day trial with no signup required, so you can prove it works on your setup before paying a penny. Support goes straight to the developer: emails are answered by the same person who wrote the code, usually the same day, and user reports regularly become shipped fixes within days. Appish is built by Ross McKinlay, an independent developer making the utilities he wanted for his own Mac. If a review here points out a problem, expect a reply and, more often than not, a fix.

Simple, Solid, Robust, and Well-Supported!

I was looking at another macOS dock replacement and while evaluating it came across Dockish by Appish. Dockish has everything I need and more and at a competitive price. I also discovered Layoutish, Soundish, and Lockish, which fill in some key functionality in macOS and I was able to buy them all as a suite. Most importantly, when I encountered a few small issues (with my install, not with the apps), the developer (Ross) has been amazingly quick to resolve and respond. I'm very happy with my purchase and the dedicated company behind it!

Astonishingly better than Apple's dock

This dock for Mac is far superior to the built-in dock from Apple. The pro version is very inexpensive, yet is so flexible and easy to use. This is very professional software. Apple failed to fix a major bug with their dock when you stack monitors vertically. It's been a problem for years. That's why I went looking for Dockish. But Dockish not only fixed that, but was WAY BETTER!

I read about Appish when I looked for a way to have the Mac Dock on both monitors of my dual-monitor setup. I downloaded the trial version of Dockish and saw immediately that it not only met that need but also gave me controls over the Dock that I’d never even thought of.

The price is reasonable, as are the prices of the other apps that are part of Appish.

Ross McKinlay, the developer, is wonderfully responsive to suggestions. He implemented several changes I suggested by the next day.

Think how much better our computing experiences would be if all software companies were run the way Ross runs Appish.
