Awful service, terrible booking process, shocking singing

The customer service at this venue is atrocious. When making a booking you have to go in person for an interview.

Yes that's right, in person where someone with a clipboard ( a recurring theme) takes you through the rules. Imagine if someone was explaining how a night out works to an alien that has just arrived on Earth, that's the vibe.

I suspect I have made upwards of 10,000 bar and restaurant bookings to date, this is the first one that required me to visit in person in advance.

After passing the interview which is a bit of a sing and a dance (pardon the pun) you are then approved and your reservation is made.

Upon arrival the warning signs are there from the onset. Flustered staff with clipboards and an ear piece, the tell tale signs of an awful night are there already. As one expects of door staff with clipboards there is no welcome or pleasantries just "Have you got a booking". Once your name is confirmed by the extremely rude member of staff you are then (without any conversation) shown inside and shown to your table.

At this stage you are told to part ways with your coat or jumper, this cannot be worn inside, so you have to check it in. It was 2 degrees outside but alas no large jumpers or coats allowed to be worn.

I don't know why this venue has the ridiculous interview process to make a booking. There are many Weatherspoons more tastefully appointed than this venue and to be honest I have seen better singing outside a pub after a football game than the dross that was performing in here.

Safe yourself the hassle and go somewhere else. Terrible service, terrible booking process, poor singing and to finish it off when I did get my coat back at the end of the night someone was sick on it outside the cloakrooms, seems this guest managed to sneak through the interview process. Perhaps that's why they don't let you keep your coats?!

0 stars - Choose elsewhere

0 stars, tiny place, heavily overcrowded and run down, uncomfortable sitting, over priced cocktails with cheap mixers (they are prepared in front of you) unnecessarily aggressive bouncers and rude staff...I went to get my coat and a bouncer slammed his arm on my chest stopping me to let someone else go first shouting 'no! you wait!' I was left shocked, I felt assaulted. Good reviews must be fake, bad reviews have a pattern of similar behaviour from the staff - some disgusting delusional people running this place. Perhaps the police may need involvement.

RUDEST Customer Service Ever

I have been to archer street many times and had a lot of fun- although I just spoke to customer service to enquiry on a large group booking and I have never had such a bad experience. The lady was rude and not helpful. She wasnt willing to provide any information and she acted like she was rushing and not interested to answer any of my question. Really really disappointed.

Vile customer service

Vile customer service
The doormen and managers at both soho and northcote are never welcoming to people of colour having tried to go in to both bars a number of times even with bookings and well before 9pm as recommended.
I have been told that they don’t allow bookings for two people and so what ever confirmation I received would have been automatically cancelled. How ridiculous is that?!
So when I asked if we could walk in instead, they just said no. As we walked away from the bar I saw a group of two girls get let in with no fuss. Just such a strange place. Would definitely recommend never going there or giving them any business

Appalling ethos (Northcote Road)

Wanted to sit quietly drinking a mocktail in the sun and read the paper at 2ish on a Sunday afternoon. But the big hefty bouncer tells me lone people aren't allowed. He let me in anyway. Ironically, I only went there because the empty tables suggested they needed the business and I wanted to support them.

As I was sat outside I could see that the bouncers took a condescending tone with everyone that they let in - always caveats, rules, provisos on entry. No welcome, respect or humility.

The first waiter seemed annoyed I was asking for a non-alcoholic drink as it was too boring for him. The second waiter was attentive and polite, but had to ask for a glass of water three times. The drinks were good but at £18 a pop, they should be. .

I spent £50 (yes a lone person can spend money) but left with a very bad taste in my mouth.

Extortionate, poor service, bad vibes.

Usually when I sit in a bar for a drink, I'm expecting to feel a bit special, otherwise, I would just drink at home, but the management and staff seem to think we are school children, waiting to be reprimanded and pushed around.

Remember: your customers are gold. Any business with an ounce of common sense should understand that you don't demean your customers. Even when we are wrong, you should make us feel we are right. It's not all about YOU!

Terrible experience with the Northcote…

Terrible experience with the Northcote Road venue and in particular the manager Steve and the ops-director. We had secured a booking for 14 girls at 7.15 on Saturday via email for our friend's hen. This was booked via email two months prior. Throughout the series of exchanges we had explicitly cleared it with them that we were a hen group. This had been agreed and a down payment had been placed. Upon arrival at (7.17pm) after calling them en-route at 7.00 to triple confirm we would be there, they refused our entry. To begin with they said we were too late, they then resorted to saying that it was company policy that no stag or hen do's were allowed. Considering the 'hen group' that i was part of had just come from having lunch at the Ritz this was not the standard hen do and we had pre-arranged and paid a deposit for this months in advance. Steve (the 'manager') was extremely rude and unprofessional throughout. It was very clear that they had given our table to another party and could no longer accommodate. Following this they have refused to give our deposit back and are now saying that we were too intoxicated to be allowed in. Such a shame as we have had brilliant times at the Soho venue. Would highly recommend not attending. Disgraceful Steve, you should be ashamed.

Brilliant!

Archer Street is the definitely the place to be for London Pride (and during the year!). The staff are friendly, welcoming and the entertainment and singers are the best I've seen in London.

Non existent customer service from duty manager

Myself and 7 friends made a trip to SoHo London to celebrate a 40th birthday. Archer Street Bar had been recommended by friends so we called the bar two weeks prior to see if we could secure a table or at least get on a guest list. We were told that the tables were fully booked after 8pm and that they didn't operate a guest list. They offered us a table from 7-8pm or alternatively suggested we just turn up to the bar for entry before 9pm. We phoned every other day checking for cancellations on the off chance and were still told that just turning up before 9pm wouldn't pose a problem re getting in. We went for a lovely meal at HIX at 6.15pm which is highly recommended with outstanding food and customer service. We then walked around the corner to Archer Street at 8pm to be point blank told they were at full capacity and wouldn't be letting anyone else in. We explained we had been calling regularly to check table availability and were recommended to just turn up before 9pm and it shouldn't be a problem. We asked to speak to the manager who had been standing by the door listening to our conversation with the door man but chose not to intervene. When he finally addressed us he was abrupt, impertinent and very rude. He accused us of being liars!!!!! which we took offense to. He maintained that all staff give out the 'same' information but on asking the doorman what time they had reached full capacity, we were told 4.30pm!!? When later asking the duty manager, he said 7pm! A slight discrepancy! If we had not been recommended to just turn up and told getting in before 9pm wouldn't be a problem, then we would have made alternative arrangements. We instead experienced rude staff, namely the manager who should be setting an example, who were dismissive, completely unsympathetic and ill-mannered! A huge disappointment on the premise it came so highly recommended. Although this upset a few ladies and marred the start of the evening, we were lucky that Mahiki were far more customer service orientated and friendly where we ended up having a great night!
