The Yachtmaster course is well written and comprehensive, and the combination of written materials, videos and personal tips was really helpful. Seeing everything in situ made a real difference!

I recently completed the Essential Navigation course with Ardent Training and would highly recommend it. The course was incredibly engaging and interesting throughout, with lots of valuable and genuinely useful information that I can apply straight away.
The team were always on hand to help and answer questions, which made the learning experience really supportive and enjoyable. Feedback was tailored, constructive, and provided very quickly, helping me improve and stay motivated throughout the course.
A fantastic experience overall, definitely a 5-star course and one I’d highly recommend to anyone looking to build confidence and knowledge in navigation.

Although an online course, the video format really works well - seeing the instructors in front of you, on boats, actually doing is the next best thing to being there. The instructors all know how to get across their point in a friendly, easy to understand way.
Added to this there's a whole bunch of useful resources to download, weekly zoom calls on related subjects and help at hand via text chat 12 hours a day.
A really well thought-out, presented, and effective course!

I reviewed all the online Day Skipper courses available and selected Ardent after taking advantage of their 24 hour free trial, from which it seemed to be the best (and worth the small premium in cost compared with the others). In practice, I found the course to be excellent. It is extremely well structured. The videos really facilitate understanding of the subject matter and, of course, if you understand it, you're more likely to retain the information and be able to to put it into practice. The corresponding slides were well presented and very useful for consolidation of knowledge and subsequent revision. You can do the course at your own pace and convenience. As it happened, I didn't need to contact Ardent as I went through the course but when I did have contact with them in connection with the mock and final exams at the end, they were exceptionally responsive and prompt. In short, I can't recommend Ardent and their course highly enough. First rate.

I passed the Day Skipper theory exam today and I am really pleased with Ardent. The course was really easy to follow, practical, and well-paced, and the instructors explained things in a simple, approachable way. It gave me the confidence I needed for the exam - definitely recommended!

Fantastic way to learn day skipper theory

The course explains in detail a lot of subjects that the RYA handbook summarises at a higher level. As such, I feel so much more prepared for leading a crew after completing this training. The team are incredibly responsive and knowledgeable.

What a fantastic set of resources to help you learn about sailing. There's hours of in depth video that's broken down into bite-sized chunks to make it more manageable. The online learning format is also backed up by a team of highly experienced and helpful staff who can assist with any questions you have along the way. I'll definitely use Ardent in the future as I progress with my sailing qualifications.

Just passed my Day Skipper course. I probably underestimated the time it would take to do the e-learning, but I was very impressed by the way the modules were split up and the way in which the instructors made what could be complex, much easier to understand. Great videos and the switching between text versions and video worked well. I used the web version for most training as I found the iOS version glitchy and the download option gave me a lot of trouble, which was disappointing as I spend much of my time on flights. Perhaps worth some more development? Finally, very impressed with how quick the instructors marked the exams and gave super and positive feedback. THANK YOU ARDENT TEAM.

Ardent Training have been my learning partner since I passed my day skipper almost 10 years ago.

The platform is rich, providing detailled and clear explanation about all the necessary topic you need to get in your skipper toolbox.

Futhermore, some key aspect about our playground during those lesson have pushed my curiosity to learn even more notions about how tidal and stream work.

If you have any concern that an online formation might not giving you the right formation, don't ! All Ardent instructor are sea proven expert that always make them available for any question.

I look forward for the next lesson and apply everything that have been learned during this Coastal Skipper formation.

I have just passed my Day Skipper Practical, and Ardent Training's excellent Day Skipper theory course made it all possible. I highly recommend Ardent Training.

Ardent provided thorough and intelligent explanation of all the material on the RYA Day Skipper course.

The instructors are all friendly and easy to watch, the group was responsive and available for grading and (excellent explanation) of quiz and exam grades.

The format of allowing the student to switch between video presentation and slideshow exposition was effective… I’m taking the RYA Practical course as I write this and I feel prepared, educated, and ready to peruse whatever is next in my sailing career.

Course material is very well explained in the videos and enabled me to pass my Yachtmaster Offshore Theory. The brilliant thing about Ardent is that they have a rota of staff available 0800-2000hrs each day and they're super responsive so when you're tackling a tricky topic, they're right on hand using the chat facility or even phone calls if necessary, and they really are expert at spotting the mistakes you might be making and getting you back on track quickly. Very impressive and everyone is super personable and helpful. The team's expertise and natural enthusiasm and desire to help you pass are really exceptional. I will be doing more of Ardent's courses in the future and recommend them to anyone wanting to train and learn these amazing nautical skills they have to share.

I'm glad I chose Ardent Training for my Day Skipper Theory. The online format was more flexible (and cheaper overall) than a classroom course. The content was well-structured and very engaging. I particularly enjoyed the coastal settings of the videos- nearly as good as being on the boat yourself! Their responses to my questions were prompt and helpful.

I can't recommend Ardent Training more highly. The quality of their resources is outstanding. You feel like you get to know several members of their team who become like friends, even though you've never met them. The way the sometimes complicated content is delivered takes away concern that you won't be able to manage/remember it when you are out on the water or doing your practicals. Online support is very quick, thorough and friendly. I think this type of training works for all learning styles.
I should also mention that my fantastic sailing instructor ('Balaine') from Ilfracombe sailing school graciously recommended you, even though he delivers in person training himself!

I have had a great experience doing my RYA Day Skipper Course with Ardent training. The whole course is structured very well including presentations with useful videos to go along with it. I particularly like how they break down complex subjects to digestible chunks then put them altogether! Fantastic support via the life chat where they reply in only a few minutes. Additionally very supportive feedback even if you aren’t fully grasping the concept! Overall I would high recommend anyone taking on RYA courses to go with Ardent!
