Mentally ill drivers and scammers

Do not travel with them!! I went twice two days in a row
22/5/26 pompei, vesuvius, herculaneum; They have incredibly rude drivers who speak no english at all and are impatient with elderly disabled woman who cannot walk without any support, even 5m was too much!! He was rude so badly that i even had to step in as it was horrific and got cursed and shouted at by him too, also almost hit a pedestrian on a crosswalk, everyone in the bus felt uncomfortable and unsafe. At the end I used google translate to let him know he has mental problems and should be embarrassed for the way he treats customers, and yes you can guess. He leashed at me again and I filed a complaint at the agency there (promise you nothing will be done) even his coworker said hes not fit for the job and it was the driver his first day too

23/5/26 Capri full tour: the guide told us to bring our "ticket" a yellow paper written on with text to a ticket point by sign number 23 to get the "island tour" ticket (which is also yellow!), they took our ticket Gave a blue ticket to the blue cave and said we had to pay again!! Eventually we had to go back to our boat to go back to the hotel but we didnt get the tour. We went after it asking when the tour was exc and 4 times we got send back and forth between them saying its not their fault acting stupid like they dont know (meanwhile i saw they had me and my moms yellow ticket note with MY name on it, she asked it back after they gave a blue ticket but refused so we didnt think much of it at first)
So later when we had tl return we got irritated and my mom got into a huge verbal fight they started and everyone ln those ticket booths said they are their own "separate ticket counter" they are not!! They know and try to play you in your face.

I asked the agency that tried to help us and they said this business is very well known for bad experiences!! Do not take what i say lightly. I travel alot and this is a first, even egypt has better mentality and hospitality then they do.

They have no emotional regulation and get angry for even the tiniest thing, they scam you when possible. Another guy on our group paid 50 to be picked up and wasnt, had to buy a taxi.

Tried to call the agency multiple times and texted through WhatsApp. No awnsers nothing. Asked the driver to call his manager, my mother explained and well long story short. They do not give a flying fig. They scam customers and do not want to keep customers

Thanks around vesuvio for ruining my birthday holiday!!

AVOID “Around Vesuvio” when in Pompeii

Firstly, we were picked up 20 minutes late ! No quoted “deluxe minibus” we were in a people carrier probably because they’d overbooked the minibus. So we had no “expert guide” giving us details of anything just a silent driver.
Sorrento- Lorenzo rushed us to a limoncello shop to get a free biscuit and small shot, no explanation of how limoncello was made. Then we walked to a meeting point to have 20 minutes to explore (we were told we’d have an hour) then a further walk back to get to our “deluxe minibus” that had relocated.
Positano- The winding roads down towards the seafront gave us excellent views, but obviously no commentary.
When we got out we had winding narrow streets, lovely shops to glance at, no time to take photos. Once on beach, Lorenzo said we had 1 hour of free time (should have been 2 hours.)
Boat trip around Amalfi coast- this was the BEST part of the day ! Busy boat but breathtaking scenery, we were on there for about 30 minutes. When we got to Amalfi, we had 1 hour 35 for free time.
We were NOT taken back to where we collected from, but to another of their shops which meant we had a longer walk of 25 minutes back to our hotel. (Collection point was about 5 minutes from our hotel.)
Yes we were offered by Lorenzo to swop onto the minibus but that would have meant putting on another couple to swop to the people carrier. Which we didn’t think would be fair on them. One couple from the people carrier did swop, and told us that the commentary going back was about Lorenzo’s love life !
At the drop of point we tried to complain but the male who seemed to be in charge denied we were in a people carrier, and that no one had ever complained before !
I asked for a partial refund as we were not given the experience that was promised. No was his answer.
We will never recommend this company “Around Vesuvio” to anyone !!!!

Terrible Company

Terrible Company - rude & aggressive staff and they threatened to not give us the tickets we had already paid for just because I told the office guy not to be so rude to his customers! That would be theft!
Rushed tour and very bad quality bus which felt very unsafe.
AVOID!

It's a ripoff and tourist trap

It's a ripoff and tourist trap. They catch tourists at the entrance of Pompeii to sell them useless additional material. Everything you need is included in the official ticket. Use the official App instead!

Experience with “Around Vesuvio”

Experience with “Around Vesuvio” – an overpriced tour with serious shortcomings

If you’re considering a trip to Mount Vesuvius through Around Vesuvio, please read on before booking. Their name and shops are highly visible throughout Pompeii – and their marketing is professional and extensive. Unfortunately, the experience falls far short of what you pay for.

Heavy marketing – but poor quality and service

The company has several stores within just a few hundred meters, often with 3–4 staff in each. This heavy staffing and visibility create an impression of professionalism and thoroughness – but behind the façade is an experience that feels superficial and overly focused on pushing as many people through the system as possible, rather than on quality.

Transport that doesn’t inspire confidence

The bus we rode did not feel safe or comfortable. It was worn down, and parts – like the door – seemed unstable while driving. I can’t speak for their entire fleet, but the specific bus we used was not in a condition suitable for transporting tourists on mountain roads.

Toilet conditions on Vesuvius: An embarrassing chapter

Whether Around Vesuvio or other operators are ultimately responsible for the toilet facilities on Vesuvius is unclear – but when a company charges as much as they do for a tour, a basic level of service should be expected. Unfortunately, the conditions were unacceptable:
• 5–6 toilets for hundreds of visitors
• No running water or hand sanitizer
• Doors that couldn’t close or lock – and one door was completely missing, meaning you could easily find yourself exposed while trying to use the toilet

It’s hard to understand how one of Europe’s most iconic natural attractions can offer visitors such substandard conditions – especially when compared to, for example, Iceland, where both safety and facilities are in a completely different league. If you’ve experienced volcanoes there, Vesuvius will be noticeably disappointing.

Tight schedule and high cost

From the bus drop-off to the top of the crater, there is very limited time. Many visitors barely make it up and down before the bus returns. It strongly feels like the goal is quantity over quality.

On top of that, the price is steep: The tour includes entry and transport – plus additional parking fees – but you end up paying much more than the experience is worth.

Conclusion: Consider alternatives

Vesuvius is a magnificent natural phenomenon in itself, but the way it’s organized – especially through companies like Around Vesuvio – significantly diminishes the experience. There’s a clear lack of respect for visitors and little willingness to ensure proper conditions.

My advice? Think carefully before spending your money here. You’re far better off enjoying a good pizza and a bottle of wine – that’s an experience that truly lives up to both the price and the expectation.
