Great couch & customer service
I love my new couch, I love everything about it. I ordered it on November 8th and got it here in my house on November 27th! I had a few concerns about ordering a couch online without having sat on it beforehand, and I was also a little concerned about the color that I chose. I contacted customer service about both issues and was reassured that if I did not like anything about the sofa, I'd be able to return it within 30 days. I'm pretty sure that that will not be happening! It feels like a solid quality piece, the color is beautiful as well as the fabric and the customer service at Article could not be better. Absolutely livid. Article turned what should have been an exciting new chapter into a nightmare.
We ordered a dining table and a dresser from Article—two pieces we trusted would arrive on time, as promised. We were moving to a new state, sold our old furniture, and planned our whole setup around this delivery, especially for Thanksgiving. Article assured us the delivery was scheduled for the morning of November 12th, so I spent the day at our empty new house, while my wife was stuck alone in a hotel with our 8-month-old.
But what did Article do? They kept pushing the delivery time back, minute by minute, hour by hour, without a single meaningful update or explanation. Finally, after I’d wasted 12 hours alone in a barren house, they called—only to tell me they couldn’t deliver because “Oh, we didn’t realize this was a three-person job, and we only have two people.” Are you kidding me? This couldn’t have been communicated HOURS ago?
If they had even bothered to communicate, I could have helped as the third person or at least told them to drop it on the curb. But no, they kept us dangling all day, and then just tossed out a “sorry” after hours of silence and inaction.
So, naturally, I thought they’d make it right, maybe reschedule within a couple of days. Wrong again. Now they’re telling us the earliest they can deliver is November 27th—literally one day before Thanksgiving. It’s beyond frustrating. This is a dining table we intended to use for Thanksgiving. They have no idea what this means for us, and frankly, they clearly don’t care.
We’ve now been left without a table for weeks, living out of boxes because we sold our dresser, and stuck wondering what other corners they’re willing to cut. This was our first and absolutely our last purchase from Article. They’ve failed at the basics—communication, planning, and customer service. This entire experience has left us stranded, and Article’s “solution” is a lazy, half-hearted reschedule with no accountability for the chaos they’ve put us through.
Do yourself a favor: avoid Article. This company does not deserve your trust, and they certainly don’t deserve your business.
Laughable Update on 12/2: They came back to deliver the table and the dresser and AGAIN only had 2 people. Now they are saying they'll *never* have enough people and our options are to cancel the order or they *might* be able to drop the 300 lbs dresser on the curb and say "good luck!" (the "might" is because we're still waiting to hear back from their support team on what is happening.....)
Why on earth does Article sell items they can't deliver?! This is baffling to me.

Make sure you are in no hurry….
Ordered a basic desk in July 2024 and according to website desk was “in stock”. Fast forward to October 2024 and still no desk. Took months to receive the desk in the US from overseas. Desk was lost for a while, went one local shipper who decided not to deliver, was then lost again and now is with Ryder Local who cannot deliver for another month because their truck is broken. Article has been sitting on $1,500 for over four months now and no desk in the horizon. Only order from Article if you are in no hurry.

Style over substance : Deceptively positive reviews
Tried writing a review in their website and it was never published. Reading the fine print, they say they don’t publish anything with a reference to delivery or experience. Very poor faith considering it’s an online store and the delivery process is integral to their business.
We placed a $10,000 order. Chairs have been delivered damaged or defective over and over again.
The dining table was delivered totally destroyed. Looked like it had been dropped from a crane picking it off the ship.
Quality is generally low. The sofa is as light as a feather and feels very cheap, despite looking nice.
Highly recommend shopping elsewhere.
Customer service was good at first but became disappointing after months of waiting and our time being wasted over and over again.
We doubt that the products will last long.
The $250 dining chairs are already wobbling and half the bolts wouldn’t fit into the holes due to poor fabrication.
The bed creaks and bangs when you sit on it.
The dining table is soft and easily dented.
The nightstands were actually very nice and far better quality than everything else. But then they did cost a fortune and yet are only veneered and not solid wood, which you could get elsewhere for the same price.

Won’t deliver until truck is full
I ordered a sofa in mid-August that was out of stock, so I understood it would mean longer shipping times. Finally, two weeks ago, it arrived at Article’s fulfillment center in the U.S. and was promptly forwarded to Canada. However, according to the tracking page, the sofa has been sitting in Calgary for a week now. I contacted Article’s customer service, and an agent confirmed that, yes, the sofa is ready to be shipped to my home, but they won’t actually ship it until their delivery truck is full—which they don’t know when that will be. I paid $249 for shipping. $249 for the sofa to sit in a local warehouse, with no delivery in sight. This amount includes an additional $200 shipping fee, because we’re beyond their service area. On their shipping/delivery FAQ site, I didn’t find any disclaimer that I’d have to wait for other people to place enough orders before I can receive my item. When I asked why this is happening, I was told it’s due to environmental concerns. This sofa is manufactured in China, not locally, so maybe, in the future, Article should swallow the cost of timely shipping (or not offer to ship to my location) and stop using greenwashing messages that guilt customers. I’m not sure how this sofa will hold up, but I’ll think twice before ordering from Article again. To make matters worse, most responses from Article on Trustpilot regarding shipping issues emphasize their pride in fast shipping, which is clearly a lie. If I haven’t been waiting since mid-August, I’d just cancel my order.
Update: While I received no answer here (or anywhere for that matter), Article asked for my order details through Truspilot. Lo and behold it looks like the truck just became full after my negative review. The sofa quickly made its way to the “delivery partner” in nearby Regina. It’s been sitting there for 3 days and counting. Article gave me this partner’s name and phone number. The number doesn’t belong to that shipping company and nobody answers it anyway. I contacted Article once again, and while they promised my sofa will arrive on October 11, they couldn’t tell me who will be delivering it or where to reach them if this falls through. Absolute trash service, can’t believe I paid an extra $200 for this. I wanted to order a matching ottoman, but I guess we won’t. Changing my rating to 1 star.
Edit: As per Article’s customer support, the sofa was supposed to be delivered today. I still haven’t heard a word from the delivery company. I called Article again, and now they don’t know when the sofa will be delivered. Reminder that this delivery cost me an additional $200.

Poor and disempowered customer service and a return policy irresponsible to our planet
We are very disturbed by an episode of unacceptable customer service, apparently constrained by bad corporate policy regarding customer fairness and carbon footprint, despite the website claim that.
"At Article, we strive to make the furniture shopping experience remarkably better. That means taking responsibility for our means of production, our workforce, and our planet."
On Sept 10 we received a Calais couch with one arm covered by mold/mildew and the outer bar of wood on the arm was broken clear through.
It was a serious QUALITY FAILURE to ship this $1787 couch to us.
In a brick-and-mortar store this couch would go to a landfill or it might be sold in a distressed furniture room for maybe $200.
We immediately reached out to customer service with photos, gullibly assuming a quick, fair, and responsible resolution.
Our options were:
1. Require Article to come to reclaim this couch and replace it with one in good condition. This is economically very expensive to Article and carries a BIG carbon footprint for repackaging and reclaiming the damaged couch, packaging and transport for the replacement couch, and perhaps landfill disposal of the damaged couch.
2. Get a fair discount from Article to keep it and repair the cracked arm to make it safe. We can apply one or two steel brace plates, but it will forever show cosmetic damage.
This approach has NO incremental carbon footprint and saves Article major $ vs a full return
We said our preference was no incremental carbon footprint, but it needed to be a financially fair deal to keep the unsafe damaged couch.

a. We could return the couch or we could keep it with an offer of a 10% cash credit. They first included a lecture on mold vs mildew and how to remove it. (Is it common for Article to ship mildewed inventory?)
b.We were shocked and said no.

b. We replied that this was financially almost exactly the same deal for them as a 10% cash credit, still not acceptable .

Final response on the phone, WE called THEM
1. Nine days after we received the couch, we called them and got to the highest supervisor we could reach.
2. He swore that his best and final offer for us is to keep the bench is a 35% cash credit, otherwise return it. He claimed "company policy"
3. Because of our carbon guilt, we agreed to the 35% cash credit and will keep the couch
Conclusion:
1. The customer bought a distressed and broken/dangerous couch for 65% of full retail, to clean and repair it themselves. No incremental carbon footprint-- taking "responsibility for our planet"
Very sloppy customer service experience, we had to aggressively pursue resolution.
2. Article gets 65% of the full price, avoids repacking , reclaiming and replacing this couch and disposing the irreparable original. Their avoided costs far more than our 35% cash credit and avoided incurring a high carbon footprint irresponsible for our planet
3. So Article gets this one star review, which is a plea to rethink their damaged goods return policy and improve/empower their customer service.
Article took unfair advantage of OUR carbon guilt to drive us into a win/lose financial conclusion where they won and we lost.
We are hopeful for a thoughtful Article reply that responsibly moves them into alignment with their corporate promise.
