Highly recommend

After moving into our new house, our oil boiler very quickly gave up on us!

As you do, I asked for recommendations for plumbers on our local Facebook group. Arton Plumbing being one.

Out of all of them, Arton stood out before they even visited the house. Booking the quote was quick and easy, communication has been fab, and we were able to book the boiler install in for the same week! By this point, the other plumbers recommended hadn’t even returned my call or booked in a visit to come and quote!

Charlie came and visited our home and gave us a quote straight away. He was very polite, and knowledgable, and kept in contact with us at all times.

The fantastic service continued during installation. Mark, Luca and Dan carried were extremely friendly, accommodating to our needs, talked us through the Hive installation, and kept everything clean and tidy as they went, and once they’d finished.

After doing a whole house renovation we unfortunately learnt the hard way that there are many tradesmen that would put you off for life! But Arton Plumbing having redeemed our faith.

Fantastic start to finish, thank you!

The most unpleasant few days

Local company with great reviews so called them without hesitation to fix boiler no heating or hot water. Prompt arrival. After 2 hours of fault finding was told boiler now had developed a (new) fatal error fault code and was unrepairable. After I googled it stated simply turn off for 10 seconds I asked the engineer to try that and guess what it cleared it. I was then told it was PCB but they recommend a new boiler. Got a call from Dan Arter the owner after he spoke to Clarance the engineer on congratulating him on the upsell. (I’m standing right next to engineer listening to Dan on phone saying “love it, love it”!)
Quoted either £1000 for PCB or £3500 for new boiler and if I chose to pay now he could install new boiler the very next day with a 12% discount.
Engineer left and later I discovered he had now caused a leak which wasn’t there originally with water dripping thru my loft floor .
Dan rang me next day eager for business. I explained I had called another company out as wasn’t happy with fact of new leak and was why I also hadn’t replied to his quote .No apology, denied leak was their fault and actually said having the new leak was just part and parcel of them trying to trace the original fault in the first place.
I didn’t even ask for my £108 call out charge back and I definitely didn’t want them back.
I simply said I wasn’t happy the area wasn’t checked thoroughly before they left , had they been more vigilant he would have noticed the new leak (in my opinion) Dan took this as me accusing the engineer of deliberately doing it . Nothing of the sort , Clarance was a very friendly chap and polite.
Anyway , moral of the story don’t cave into the upsell and get a second opinion like i did .
Got British Gas out next day , fixed within 1 hour. It just needed a new gas valve. £300 part . They also sorted the leak.
It’s a real shame I had such a poor unprofessional experience over phone with Dan. It was his attitude to my experience of his company that made my decision for me .
Nothing to do with the engineer who visited.
No surprise but I won’t be using Arton again.

I’d like to clarify a few points for transparency, as we always aim to be open and fair with our customers.

Following your call, our engineer attended promptly and carried out a full diagnostic process. As part of fault finding, we always explore all possible causes and present the available options based on the information at the time. This can sometimes include both repair and replacement routes, so customers can make an informed decision, there is never any obligation to proceed.

With regards to the fault temporarily clearing, intermittent issues can occasionally reset but still indicate an underlying problem, which is why further recommendations were discussed.

On the point of the leak after we topped your pressure up, I’m sorry this was your experience. It is certainly not our intention to leave any property in that condition, and had we been made aware at the time, we would have returned to resolve this promptly.

I’m also sorry that my conversation with you left you feeling this way — that was never my intention. I take full responsibility for that and will reflect on how that was handled.

I’m pleased to hear your system is now back up and running, and I do appreciate you sharing your feedback as it helps us improve.

Most disappointed with Arton!!!

Most disappointed with Arton today!! We got Arton to fit a new boiler in the loft for us in the summer which cost us over £11,000 which is a lot of money. The fitters said "any problems and we will come straight round and sort it". So last night at 5.50pm I find I have no heating or hot water. So I ring Arton 9 times last night and 5 times this morning, only to be told eventually that I would be charged for a call out. I told Arton to forget it and called the local plumber....very poor from Arton!!!!

For clarity, our out-of-hours team answered all of your calls on Friday evening and Saturday morning. We offered to attend first thing on Monday at no charge, or sooner on Saturday as an emergency call-out, which is chargeable as it falls outside of our normal working hours.

Following this, we did arrange a Saturday visit for you, however this was later cancelled after you advised you had sourced an alternative engineer.

We always aim to respond quickly and give clear options, especially in situations like this, and we do stand by the quality of our installations.

If you do need any further assistance, we’re of course here to help.

How it should be done

Having done my research and opting for Arton I am delighted with my choice. From Lee showing up to do the quote to Luke and Max carrying out the work there was an impressive level of professionalism. I had a boiler install, hive thermostat, radiators removed downstairs as well as a water softener and a shower installed. A full range of services and all completed to an excellent standard. The team looked after my home and kept everything clean and tidy and very polite and friendly explaining how everything worked. All appropriate paperwork sorted and told what would happen next. Thanks guys
