negative stars should be an option for this scam

I have been a student at this school for almost 5 years to get my associates degree in veterinary technology. I will put it bluntly that this is the most ridiculous, useless, unfair, dysfunctional, enraging, unempathetic, undereducated and unhelpful school I have ever been to.
For my experience, I started in late 2019 and was required to intern at veterinary hospitals at the end of every semester. the school would give you assignments to video record and/or write reports on. Along with these assignments, they would give you paperwork to get a certified technician to sign off on, confirm what equipment they had, and basically make sure you’re not working at an illegal or dangerous clinic to put it simply. This school would not help me find a veterinary clinic to intern at. For my first internship, I had to call at least 24 if not up to 35 clinics and have them agree to the paperwork and assignments Ashworth sent me. Granted, this was in December of 2020, so it was difficult to find a place to work and intern no matter the circumstances.
During these times of me finding clinics to intern at, calling 20 or more clinics for semester 2, I would contact the school through emails with my teachers, tickets to speak to an advisor, or calling the school directly, and none of the advisor or staff were able to help me. They stated very generic advice such as “try to look further” or “we can’t help you, ask family members or co-workers”.
Along with this, they are unbelievably strict when it comes to video recording assignments, and they are out of date with paperwork signing and required equipment documentation. If there were too many cuts to the video, you’d fail. If you didn’t have your whole face in the video, you’d fail. If the video was in poor quality or too pixelated, you’d fail. If your student badge was not in frame, you’d fail. If the paper was not signed correctly, you’d fail. If the clinic approval form was even missing one piece of equipment, even X ray cassettes, you couldn’t intern there. I am not exaggerating they required X ray cassettes for my 3rd semester internship. My final assignment, which was clinic site documentation” did not pass for 2 months because the hydrogen peroxide and alcohol were in “primary” storage containers” and not “secondary containers”.
The most “fun” part of these internship required classes, if you do not complete all the assignments in under 6 months, you would have to pay an extra $300. Even when the staff took up to 6 weeks to review the clinic forms, contact the vet clinic, and let you know when you could intern. I have had to pay that $300 extension fee 4 times now. along with that, I had to buy my own equipment for these assignments including rat gavage needles, surgical hemostats, halters, and CMT milk testing kits. The school also would not accept vaccine administered dates and reminders as rabies proof.
The VTNE review class was the most difficult because it required me to perform the most difficult to access assignments and frankly cruel assignments with no aid. These include an autopsy, operating a cattle chute, Bovine and horse TPR’s, rabbit ear blood draw, rat IM injection, and put a feeding/stomach tube into a rat. 90% of these are not performed in regular clinics as they’re cruel, expensive, or both. The best advice the school could give me was “for autopsies, go to a kill shelter i’m sure they’ll let you use one” and the shelters would not allow me. It was out of pure luck, effort, and verbal abuse from others that I could complete that assignment after searching and begging for 5 months.
I had to beg 2 hospitals to help me and then beg at least 30 farms to let me complete my assignments with their cattle, and I was only able to get 1 farmer out of the entirety of my state to let me use his cattle and cattle chute. For context, my state is primarily composed of horse farms and cow farms.
Finally, I finished my final semester exam as of April of 2024, and I’m currently unable to get my diploma. I’ve called and tried emailing for help or movement in fixing the issue. They said I can’t get my diploma because “there’s a technical issue” that states i’m “not graduated” on my student account. This is somehow taking them over 4 weeks (as of right now) to fix. I have only just gotten my transcript ordered after over 3 weeks of asking and making an appointment. Which was cancelled by the staff after 30 minutes of waiting. I need both my diploma and transcript to be accepted to take the VTNE (veterinary technician national exam) to get my official certification.
To anyone who wants to enroll here, especially if your program includes required internships. Do not go here. Don’t waste over $6,000 in just school payments like I did.

I'd give 0 stars if I could

I'd give 0 stars if I could. Do not fall for the bait and switch ($1 deposit to start the term- that's how they get you) I highly recommend having an attorney look over the contract. They feed on those simply trying to further their career- and after that $1- they will hit you with thousands and it WILL show up on your credit report. It's niche, but if you have seen the movie Wonka, the scene where the couple lets him stay at their hotel for free and he signs a contract- they then end up charging him an absurd amount at the end because it's "in the fine print"- same situation with Ashworth. And heaven for bid you DO graduate - you may as well have printed a fake degree online- they preach their 'accreditation' but look deep into it- some employers / educators will not accept their degrees as valid. Be warned. Do not go to Ashworth- you're better off going through a University/College that's accepts financial aid.

I am so surprised of the bad reviews

I am so surprised of the bad reviews, that I have read about Ashworth College. Ashworth College is the best affordable college. I am a two time returning, about to be a three time Graduate of Ashworth College but Ashworth University. I haven't had any issues thus far. The studies are very easy to understand. Student Help Services are also available online in the Student Portal, Chat Messaging. I am so sorry to hear of any issues that any students has encountered.

Ashworth 0/5

Avoid this school at all cost. I’ve never been out down and discouraged as I do with these teachers. I’ve been in this career for years now and I’ve never expected anything so belittling. And don’t expect help because they don’t offer that at this school. I have so much to say that I don’t know where to start.
I turn in things and I’m lucky if it’s graded with in the “14 day time frame”. Then it’s normally denied this first two times. Which takes over a month to successfully get something approved. Because she will add things onto the assignment that was not asked for in the skill sheet. Then you fix that and turn it in and she has decided that she didn’t like something else. I turned in a paper and there was not a format listed so I did it in sort of an essay form. Well after 4 attempts, I realize it’s just because she wants it in list form. So I left all my pervious information and turned it in, in a different form using all information already on the essay and it was all the sudden approved. All the information was there every time.
She picks apart everything that I do. I now have been put back months and have to pay for an extension (if I stay) because it takes her way to long to grade anything.
My most recent denial was due to me wearing a warming vest over top of my scrubs because our clinic is freezing. So, this means everything I’ve done with the vest on over my scrubs has to be re-recorded and redone.
She does not stand by the curriculum that we are given at all. She makes up her own rules and wants as she goes and expects you to read her mind.
After my years working in a clinic, it’s obvious she has never stepped foot in a real life vet med.
I have other degrees and have attended other colleges, I have never seen one so unprofessional with such unreasonable teachers.

Worst college ever!

This is the worst college ever! You can never get a hold of anybody on the phone. Nobody ever calls you back. They won’t send me my transcript but they make sure they keep taking money out of my account so they get paid! I would never recommend this college to anyone.

Nobody will help you with questions or concerns

I really didn't want to give them one star!!!! My daughter has been attending Ashworth for almost a year and a half now while enrolled in their vet tech program. It has been one problem after the next-tons of wasted time! They do not send or respond to emails in a timely manner, nor send paperwork that is needed to complete tasks for clinicals. No phone numbers to actually speak with anyone! Just this week, my daughter will not receive credit for her clinicals that she drove 2 hours a day to complete due to the fact that the clinic's eye-wash procedure does not meet Ashworth standards although it meets NC state standards! This should have been addressed before clinicals started and not at the END! Money and time wasted!!! I would never recommend Ashworth to anyone! Sadly, they are a JOKE!!!!

Deceptive grading practices

Deceptive grading practices. Was told I passed my lab assignments with a 100 to be emailed two days later told be told " I apologize for my previous comment" and proceed to pick every part of my assignment apart down the letter .I want to say that the grade was deleted as well but I took a screenshot before it was deleted thankfully. I had already been on a back-and-forth thru help tickets with the assignments for 18 days. There is no number to call to get help. You get help thru one-sided response tickets that you can not respond to and several canceled appointments with student services that are actual phone calls because they don't cover that part of the course. How can you offer a course and then have no one to help on certain assignments. I have been in the course since April and please let me warn you once money has been paid you are on your own 100 percent. I suggest you consider ALL other options when choosing a college.

Never would recommend.

Update: TRASH! This school went downhill fast! They changed the whole system for the worse! This slowed my progress. No professors. No student support. Wrong answers in exams. Removed basic services. I would not recommend anyone attend. If you're currently enrolled, please do your best to complete your coursework and transfer out.

----------------------------------------------------------

So far, I love it! I've been wanting to get my degree for a while and ran into a lot of trouble. I was doing a late-night search trying to find other options, and Ashworth came up. I signed up immediately, and one month later, I don't regret it. I am already a quarter of the way through my degree program as they accepted my old credits from another college and from Sophia.org.

The only cons are:
-It's really hard to reach a professor. Emails go unanswered, and everything is really impersonal.
-You also must be really self-motivated since everything is self-paced. I've created a plan with due dates to help me stay on task.
-Lastly, you need to understand that it's national accreditation, so if you want to transfer elsewhere, the credits may not be accepted. However, it's good to know that MANY schools will accept the credits, and it will be easy to transfer out for a graduate degree.

I have been dealing with Ashworth for…

I have been dealing with Ashworth for awhile. I have revived undergrad carts and working on my Bachelors, I’m in the school system I have individuals I know on the board of the DEAC accrediting body and they are legit. I have had great customer service, I had had to pay an extension because I went passed the semester time limit. And as far as fees etc, every college out there does this. I think if you went to collections you ignored all the attempts to work with you they try before they have to resort to an agency. This is a on line school and you must own your responsibility as a student to motivate yourself. Ask for help you will get it, if you don’t that’s on you! And most that complain are those who really are not cut out for college. And one last thing I saw the complaint that they pick and choose what credits are transferred, no duh all colleges do in regards to the program you pick. I know several people who have been completely satisfied I only wish they would bring back their Master degree. I give them a Strong B to A rating. Stop composing this College and no one is going to pamper you! You get out of education what you put in! Grow up and take charge of your life and one last thing the student service people have been awesome to me! I highly recommend them!

They choose which transcripts you get :)

They arbitrarily decided to send me 1 of 2 paid for transcripts. I talked to Parchment and Ashworth Billing* multiple times, doesn't matter. I'm out my money for the 2nd transcript. Parchment even said they would refund me the money for my missing transcript, definitely didn't get that. They used to be good, I don't know what happened. Don't even bother going here.

*The asterisks is because I am unable to get into touch with Student Services no matter what. There's no phone number, they never called me back during any of the many appointments I made, and the "chat" option is a robot without the ability to communicate. I get better conversations out of my plants. Have yet to have a ticket answered, but I received loads of "how are we doing?" surveys.

I fell behind on my monthly payments…

I fell behind on my monthly payments due to a family emergency that also hurt me financially. However, whenever I attempted to pay a monthly payment, my account was forwarded to a collection agency, who requested for me to pay the full amount of $1,500. Money that I do not have at the moment due to the problems mentioned above. I attempted to speak to someone but they did not care about what was going on, either you pay the whole amount to the collection agency or you won't get access to the classes. Of course, days turned into months and now it's very difficult to catch up. I understand I fell behind on my payments, it went and hurt my credit so I can't even get another loan to pay for the school. The right think to do is, that the school should've negotiated with me or put me in some kind of payment arrangement. But, they quickly pushed my account off without even carrying, and all the hard work and time I did went straight out the thrash.

Ashworth used to be a great school and…

Ashworth used to be a great school and I'm not sure what happened, but customer service became less helpful and professional as well as incorrect answers on test and the payment system was horrible. I paid my monthly tuition payment on time and every month I was receiving a late fee stating my tuition payment was late. Not sure how that was since I was enrolled in automatic payments. Plus I kept getting emails with different balances on my account. Customer service acknowledge and said it would be fixed and next month it was the same thing. I finally decided to cancel because of all of the late fees and due date changing. Also when I first enrolled there was more interaction with support emails and reminders about my studies and that stopped around the time I started having issues with payments. Penn Foster is a better option. I don't have any of these issues that I had with Ashworth. Penn Foster I think partnered with Ashworth or bought them or whatever and I hope they revamp it because it definitely needs help!

Ashworth College is a great school

Affordable, accessible, accredited, they do not discriminate, smooth enrollment and student portal, friendly faculty and staff, go at your ownnpace, programs accepted nationwide and valued by employers. I'm a disabled veteran, single father and low income, and I have a learning disability and I graduated from the undergraduate certificate program in business management recently. Great school.

Scam

Scam! I am an Alumni from Ashworth College. I am writing because I have been demanding a refund since I have been a student with no success. This is due to the lack of engagement from teachers and the fact that I have been unable to find a Pharmacy Technician job though I am certified and finished a internship which counts as experience and Ashworth has career services that have not been of any help to me. I have been getting nothing but rejections from companies though the website states they their program is rated among the top 10 best. They are taking advantage of people who don't have time or money to invest in university. Do Not Purchase their courses!

Affordable Adult Education

I've read several of the bad reviews and am kind of shocked. I had a very good experience with Ashworth College. I obtained two Undergraduate Certificates from them that helped me immensely in my career. I saw no deception in the fees, everything was up front, and the courses were challenging and provided good context. If I contacted the help desk for issues it was always handle promptly. I would recommend this school for those looking for an inexpensive alternative to larger educational institutions. And those who have to work around full time jobs and family commitments.

They were quick to giving me an academic hold and I was supposed to get another chance in a class. I never got it as they said I would. Not very helpful especially first semester. Also quick to deny resubmissions as well.

The person I called to sign up for with the college said it would be $1 and I canceled any time and it would not cost any extra so I signed up and didn't even sign up for classes and they still are trying to take $180 from me after they took the 59 and are saying it doesn't matter what the lady on the phone told you it was in the contract so I was lied to and to deceived and now they just want their money they didn't even review the phone call like they said they would they are trash college I did not recommend them to anybody especially if you're struggling with money

I had a terrible experience from the…

I had a terrible experience from the start. I called Ashworth and enrolled over the phone. I asked if the book was a digital one or physical. Since the book is over 800 pgs. & I don't always have access to a computer I need a book I can read then do the tests online. She said it was a physical book and would be delivered via mail. That was a lie. Next I paid by c.c. that I do not have a balance on & a few days later my card gets flagged for fraudulent activity. That's more than a coincidence. When I called about this they said there is nothing they can do about the book & that I can buy one from Amazon. I quit this b.s. school & was refunded half of my tuition.
