Misleading
I recently attended the summer ball. Event confirmation email stated the below:
'You can also send them messages for up to two weeks after the event through the website. Just log in and look on your homepage, or click on "My Events".'
However, they don't say you need to complete a full profile in order to use the service. I was not interested in setting up a full profile but when someone messaged I wanted to get back to them. I was initially asked to upload a picture..so I did. Then got a message stating my profile was suspended till I write 20 words about myself. So I just wrote, ...thank you for checking my profile..please contact me for me info...' I then got told they still were not going to accept this as need to describe my self. It's an indirect way to get you to do a full profile as you can't save 20 words without the other profile bits completed. It would be fine to do this if they clearly state this in the confirmation email. I was disappointed with the service and comms perspective and won't be attending again.

I am sorry that you consider our services only to be worth one star. You already wrote to us and commented that the event was OK. Indeed, we had provided live classical music, chocolate fountain, speed dating, and the opportunity to meet 150 other professionals in an exclusive five star hotel.
Your ticket was £15. We received mainly positive feedback.
Whilst you have attended an event, you have not actually used our main services so your review takes issue only with one point.
To use our messaging service, we do ask users to complete a basic profile. We only ask for 20 words as a minimum. This should give others a snap shot into your life and tell others what you are seeking from a partner. We cannot accept generic or filler text as this goes against the spirit of this narrative being a requirement.
We feel it adds to the user experience to be able to see a little about each member or who is attending an event.
We took time to chat to you about this, and are always available to offer help. From our discussion, you simply were unwilling to write anything about yourself. Whilst it is your choice to distance yourself, we are not obliged to afford you interaction with our other members if you cannot fulfil this basic requirement. We make no apology for this. We have been providing dating services for 15 years, we take it seriously and only seek to help our members find love.
I am always sorry if you are dissatisfied. If you would reconsider, and wish to complete your profile, I'd be happy to offer you a complimentary trial of our online service.

Tricking customers to upgrade
I downloaded the app and had lots of like and profile views. However as soon as I upgraded all my activity came to a standstill.
They coax you in, you pay extortiante fees and then you get NOTHING!

I am sorry if you have had a poor experience.
I can assure you that we never manipulate activity in this way. If anything, we promote paid up users in preference, as basic users can be downgraded if they ignore their enquiries.
I imagine that because you had upgraded you were watching your activity more closely. Do also consider that the purpose of upgrading is to respond to all the activity that built up during your free period.
In general, success is about having an amazing profile, with clear photos, and then contacting other members with personal mails. We see thousands of Actions each week so you need to work on your approach to ensure more of that activity comes your way. That said, it is a dating site, and it can be a very visual experience where members will focus on the best photos. Therefore there are no guarantees.
I am sorry you feel our fees are extortionate. Our memberships start at around £10 per month and are in line or lower than competitor sites. As a site that aims at professional British Asians, we aim to offer quality and so do not always seek to compete on price.
