Best way to see Fethiye & the ancient ruins!
I booked the 4-day self guided tour around Fethiye and had a blast! I did the entire tour on a solo basis.
Each day was an adventure — challenging climbs paired with beautiful views, stunning beaches and ancient ruins that make you reconsider your place in the world. I really felt like I got to experience Fethiye and the surrounding area in an intimate way.
Atlas Pedals took care of (i) airport transfer, (ii) bike rental (including relevant accessories), (iii) hotel and (iv) route planning.
Let me start by saying the bikes available to rent are really nice. I opted for the gravel bike and got a Ridley. Nice fat tires, plenty of gears and strong brakes. Good for climbing but also good for fast descents.
Routes take you through a variety of scenery. Gravel paths. Mountain climbs. Turkish country side. Mediterranean beaches. The hardest route was a lil over 80km with maybe 1,100m of elevation gain. Hardest individual climb was probably around 400m of elevation gain at an avg 10% gradient. I saw St. Nicholas Island, Kadyanda, Tlos Ancient City, and Girmeler Caves
And while there’s not a ton of cyclists on the road when I was biking, cars are very respectful. I always felt safe.
