I ordered a product from their website

I ordered a product from their website, and after 5 days of no correspondence or update, I reached out with a quick and polite email to ask them when it would be sent, as I had hoped to receive the product on time for an event. I heard nothing back. Usually, a decent business will send a quick message to keep a customer updated on what is going on, especially if it's nearly been a week and the order has not been sent yet. So I waited a couple more days and sent another short and sweet query to ask when it would be sent, and still crickets. Ten days went by, and I still hadn't heard anything, so I wondered if I even would at that stage, as no one was responding, and I reached out yet again and this time asked for my money back (best practice before initiating a chargeback with the bank)
They didn't email me back, but they did express post the product. It arrived in a shabby, squashed box with nothing but the product rolling around in it - not even a packing slip. After such an odd experience, I just want to throw it in the bin. My guess is that they did not like me asking when it would be sent. How dare I? What is wrong with a bit of sweet customer service? Perhaps these guys think they are too good for that and don't need to bother. Such a shame, when they are an Australian business I decided to support and give my money to. I could have been a repeat customer had they just been a bit nicer and reached out the first time to let me know when to expect my product. After this odd experience, I am not excited one bit to try the product; I am only excited to see it in the bin- it's not even good enough to pass on to a friend.
