I booked the summit in Oct 2024 and was told that it would be online for later perusal, but I could not find any of the presentations. I paid R590 to be able to do that.

APS? You need to run this by me. I've parented 2 children assessed with Autism - 25 years now. I can't even imagine what you think you know. I've seen it all. Well intentioned people who know nothing about Autism claiming to be experts for hire.

Just not at all what I thought I was signing up for. Having servered on several local, state and national non-profits focused on Autism services, this is not what I was expecting. My son is now an adult and our focus is more on housing, job supports and his recent surprising sucess with spelling to communicate. None of which has ever been menbtioned in any of the content with the Autism Parentiing Summit.

Lots of great information from different sources and different points of view. Please use your own critical appraisal skills as speakers come from very different schools of thought, but they all had something to valuable to offer.

An Inspiring and Informative Experience
Attending the Autism Summit Workshop was an exceptional experience. The conference was well-organized, and every session was packed with valuable information, practical strategies, and insights from experts in the field.
The speakers were knowledgeable and passionate, sharing evidence-based practices and innovative approaches to supporting individuals on the autism spectrum. I particularly appreciated the workshops’ balance between research-driven content and real-world application, making it easy to take the lessons learned back to my own work and personal life.
Additionally, the resources provided were thorough and actionable, ensuring the learning didn’t stop at the end of the day.
I highly recommend this conference to anyone seeking to deepen their understanding of autism and enhance their ability to support individuals on the spectrum. It was both enlightening and empowering!

I enjoyed the talks from those with Autism and people working in the field of Autism. It has helped me understand and be better equipped to engage with autistic people I meet and work with in education. I wish I had had this while raising a child on the Autism spectrum.

Self Care
There is so much to talk about in reference to my experiences attending the summit however the one that impacted me most this time around was self care.
I have been giving 100% attention to my grandson and forgetting about myself. I didn’t notice this until I found out I was having meltdowns and feeling burnt out. Here in Belize there is not much activities geared at relaxation, and support Not my knowledge so what I have been doing is getting up and getting in some exercise using videos which helps some. I have no yet found a support group, I’m still looking, nonetheless I now understand the importance of support group with regards to self care.
A few weeks before the summit we bought and moved into out own house, but the transition was difficult. I even got into an accident from what the doctors told me from a lack of sleep not eating on time and not drinking enough water. My concern at that time was to make sure my grandson was transitioning okay and forgetting about myself.
I’m so grateful for these summits I have learnt so much and have put so many of these ideas and recommendations to good use.
