NEVER more AutoEurope

We did rent a card at AutoEurope homepage in Palma for 4 days.
We arrived late and we came to pick up the car the company (Goldcar) has rented out the car to somebody else despite I had paied for more than 3 another days. No refunding. NO HELP AT ALL FROM AUTOEUROPE. This condition was not mentioned in my contract and I think it is fraud.
I will never use AutoEurope again. Independent of price I never do business with companies that I feel act dishonest

top service, reliable

I never had any problems with Autoeurope so far. Thus, I can recommend the company without contraint . I'm wondering if I would really have optimal cover, insurance and refund of the insurance excess in the event of a claim.

Summer tyres in winter and a rude and unhelpful service person.

The first car I was given had summer tyres in the middle of winter when all cars by law should have winter tyres fitted by law. I was just luckily that I noticed it when I arrived home. The service person never apologized but offered me a second car. The second car they offered me had tyres which were almost bald, unsafe to drive and technically illegal. The service lady insisted that there was not a problem with the tyres but did not even know what the minimum legal amount of profile was (4mm). She was rude when I politely requested a car which was safe to drive considering we were driving into the mountains for a ski trip, insisting that I could not say if the tyres were safe of not without a measuring device. She also tried to make me pay for the petrol I used when I drove the first car home and back again, a total of 5km.

Bandits

This was not a good car rental experience. We had to wait almost two hours for our car when we arrived in Paris, and was charged a lot more than we had expected. If you use these people make sure you read the small type! They also charged my credit card for the car before it was actually rented (2 months before). Is that really legal?

We turned in the car one day before planned - Europcar, that was renting the car to us - told us we would get our extra insurance fee back for the last day, but AutoEurope refuses. Europcar refuses to help us since we did not book through them. We also did not get the extra day's rental back from AutoEurope.

Conclusion: Stay away from this company - it is cheaper in the end to rent directly from the rental company.

Strafmandat ohne irgendwelcher Erklärung

Dear Madam/Sir
I have received a bill today of 25 Euros concerning a traffic violation on 19.08.2012.It is neither stated and therefore absolutely unclear what exactly the nature of this violation is nor the area where this alleged violation took place.I was neither being stopped nor ticketed for any possible violation so i would like you to at least clarify and inform me what french traffic law i broke in what part of the country.Furthermore i find it extremely unfair, offensive and incomprehensible to be billed for a traffic violation afterward without being confronted with it and being informed of the charges when it actually happened.

efficient, well explained on site, easy to book

We hired a VW T5. It was in good condition and exactly what we needed. As noted above - easy to book and to collect. Rental price was a little expensive but we realise it is an expensive vehicle. The only change would be to 'sign off' the vehicle at the end rather than waiting until it is cleaned to tell the client whether it is returned in acceptable condition. We had no problem and the vehicle was fine but it would be better to sort it immediately if ever there was a problem.
Overall a good experience. Thank you

Really bad service from Buchbinder

Rented a Buchbinder car and the service was awful.

We had problems with the car:
-tire pressure was bad and we had to refill and worse was the steering which wobbled. We called them but the didnt get back as promised.
- we also got a smaller car than we ordered, a Opel Corsa sized Meriva instead of a Astra midsized car.
- once they hung up when we asked if we could speak english
- finally, I lost my wallet in the car and they promised to get in touch with us again when they had searched the car which they haven't done yet. That was one week ago and we have called them twice to remind them.

No maps in offices!

Most odd that when we picked up a car in Paris there was not ONE map of the city (they got one from Hertz for us) and not ONE map of France to give us. Never had a car rental company with NO MAPS! The person in the Paris (Invalides) office was rude, totally unhelpful and when we asked which autostrade to take to Geneva he told us the A4 which actually goes to Belgium NOT Geneva. With no maps we drove on A4 for about 2-3 hours before realising we were on the wrong road. Messed up our time to see Geneva. Not impressed.

Very helpful - return at the airport is nothing for the fainthearted.

The city office was great and could not be any more helpful. The return at the airport is cumbersome, becaues the company asks you to call their desk so that they can send somebody to collect the car on the curbside to save a few TL on parking fees. Besides quire some delay you have to trust that the person you are handing over the keys is really a company employee ...
