Making the booking was easy. And when I collected the car, I got exactly what I had agreed to - no changes or hidden extras.

Don't buy the vehicle coverage on their site. We where not sold the right coverage for our vehicle and had to buy it a second time at pickup. Would not reimburse us for the wrongfully sold coverage. Good luck finding a phone number also. Customer service had every excuse in the book to not do the right thing. Borderline criminal tactics. Piss poor.

Terrible Customer Service

Hi
Terrible customer service, I recently rented and approached the agent to collect the car, this part including payment was smooth. The Auto Europe voucher had advised bringing a valid driving license and 1 valid credit card - they failed to mention that this rental agency had a policy of requiring 2 credit cards for the named driver, I only had 1 on me at the time of rental. The agency would not accept any alternative to their conditions such as add my partner as named driver who had 2 credit cards.
The local Auto Europe person (Portugal) was understanding and said that our payment would be refunded as we had to hire from another provider at short notice. Auto Europe customer service have subsequentially rejected the claim and closed the complaint - I cannot get any discussion with Auto Europe despite repeated unanswered emails and a telephone service that disconnects after advising that they will contact you. I would not use in future - I value companies that value the customer, that follow through on what they say they will do - unfortunately in my opinion the list excludes Auto Europe.

Customer service and communication exceptionally poor

Customer service poor, communication non existent and unprofessional. Booked a Florida car vi Auto Europe. I have contacted them 3 times via email and zero response/reply. The booking was confirmed by email - but having an account with them I checked and it states I have no booking. NOTE THEY HAVE NO CUSTOMERS HELP OR CUSTOMERS SERVICE PHONE OR EMAIL. YOU CANNOT CONTACT THEM IF THERE IS A PROBLEM. I had to google a contact and use a third party - yet still no response. I will be cancelling to use a more professional company.

Very disappointing... can't recommend

I've used Auto Europe before and it's been fine but this time around I chose one of the cheaper options as they all seemed much of a muchness but what a terrible experience and in the end I walked out of the office, as I couldn't collect the car and went to Avis and had to pay walk-in rates. There's no way to contact AutoEurope, they don't appear to be interested in helping so I feel like I've been burned and I won't use them again. Based on today's experience I suggest you may as well go direct to one of the major car hire companies and not have the hassle.

Absolutely terrible experience with…

Absolutely terrible experience with Auto Europe. I was seriously ill and physically unable to drive, so I tried repeatedly to contact customer service to postpone the vehicle pickup. It was almost impossible to reach anyone. When I finally managed to speak to someone the next day, I was told that despite being sick, I either had to collect the car immediately or lose all my money.
No flexibility, no understanding, no humanity whatsoever. They offered absolutely no solution and showed zero empathy for a genuine medical situation. Customer service was dismissive, unhelpful, and completely uncaring.
I would strongly advise everyone to avoid Auto Europe at all costs. If anything unexpected happens, don’t expect any support or compassion from them.

Only a broker; don't ruin your holiday

2 star rating maybe unfair for what they do but the fact is they are just the middle man and have no involvement with your rental other than getting your money. If there are problems during and after the rental, expect no help from Auto Europe; it will be between you and the rental company. The insurance claim is an online service, weeks after you have suffered the inconvenience of breakdown, towing, and the onward journey at your OWN COST. The rental company will not support you unless you have purchased the roadside assistance and extra insurance with the rental company directly. You will save money buying through Auto Europe but are you really prepared to suffer and have your holiday ruined for not purchasing the insurance/roadside assistance from the car rental directly?

Not so helpful if things go wrong!

Have booked numerous cars, all over Europe, with Auto Europe over the last 10 years. When things go right then they have been fine which isnt really suprising as there isnt much customer service required.
However recently had an issue with Europcar in Spain where I was charged for a scratch on a very damaged car (17 existing damage points) that I didnt do. Car had been kept in locked garage all week and only went from a/port and back.
Contacted Auto Europe but they just told me to claim on my insurance ! ....... no no no it was a scam by Europcar.

Been a customer for many years

Been a customer for many years, had an issue with a rental through Autoeurope with Sixth rentals in Orlando Airport, was told that I did not have the correcr cover by Sixth, so paid the extra, checked with Autoeurope they confirmed that I di dhave full coverage and that they would deal with it when I returned the car. On return and contacting them they said it was my own fault for buying the insurance and would not be helping me recover monies paid??? Had to claim on my credit card for the refund for money obtained by people lying to me. Had other issues and they also totally ignored those, avoid this company and Sixth Car Hire

Disappointing.

I have been booking car hire through AutoEurope for years, several times a year. Two bad experiences this year, with very poor customer service upon making a complaint. BEWARE when booking car hire in the UK with a British licence! You must get a DVLA code in advance or your hire will be refused but you’ll still be charged! Some of their suppliers have inadequate mileage allowances, hidden charges and in one case, a deposit held for SIX MONTHS in lieu of possible traffic offences! Customer services responded but refused to take any appropriate action.

Avoid Auto Europe

Avoid Auto Europe. - If I could give 0 stars I would.

I provided my flight number when booking, yet when my flight was delayed, they simply cancelled the reservation because the office had closed. No attempt to monitor the flight, no flexibility, and no support whatsoever.

I arrived late at night with my two children to find no car and the office shut. We were effectively stranded and forced to pay for a taxi and rearrange everything the next day.

Their customer service was even worse. When I called, the agent was dismissive, refused to transfer me to customer support, and would not provide a contact number, claiming they were “not taking calls.” There was no attempt to help or take responsibility.

Because of their failure, I had no choice but to pay €250 the next day for a replacement rental.

This company takes your money but offers zero support when things go wrong. Completely unreliable and unacceptable.

No car and out of pocket.

Booked and paid for rental of a car online for one week. Arrived to pick up car at Europcar Glasgow Airport this morning and handed over my bank card to pay the additional £300 deposit per the terms and conditions of the hire agreement. Despite the terms of the hire stating that I could pay this by debit card, the staff at Europcar refused to accept it, insisting on payment by credit card instead. I explained that I do not possess a credit card to be told that I could not hire the vehicle without one. I pointed out that the terms clearly say the deposit could be paid by either debit or credit card but they just point blank refused to accept the deposit unless I produced a credit card. I even offered to have someone else make the payment with their credit card but this was refused on the grounds that the card had to be in my name. I contacted Auto Europe by telephone who advised that there was nothing they could do to make Europcar honour the agreement and that the money I paid for the hire of the car was non-refundable. I was eventually told Auto Europe have a convoluted appeals process which I can try after waiting a week or so but there is no guarantee of a refund. Crucially, there was no Customer Service department that I could speak to or anyone to advise me when I called. The next stage is the "appeals process" which is done online and will be in a time frame decided by them. In the meantime, I am without transport which I was relying on and out of pocket by nearly £300. This was a horrible experience which was compounded by the intransigence of Europcar who were (not only) equally unhelpful but downright obstructive.

Sneaky - possibly illegal

I've been using Auto Europe for years but have sadly reached the age of 71 and Auto Europe has turned out to be a bit sneaky.
After booking your car they then send you a voucher to present at the rental desk. On it it states that you will pay a senior supplement on arrival - an additional £50 or so!
This is post sale not pre sale and very possibly illegal.
I won't use them again There are planty of other brokers such as Carjet who do these checks presale so the price you are quoted is the price you pay,

No help when the Alamo office was shut during their stated working hours

I arrived at the Alamo desk at Frankfurt Terminal 2 at the scheduled time of 22:30 but the office was closed, even though the working hours were until 23:00 and they had a confirmed booking for 22:30 from Autoeurope. The Alamo contact number was not responding and I called Autoeurope to ask for their help. I asked them to book me with Sixt, which was the only open desk at the time. The person I spoke to and his duty manager were very reluctant to help and refused to make an alternative booking with SIXT, initially suggesting that I cancel my reservation for a full refund or asking me to go home and come back tomorrow - but did not offer any means of transport to get me home, 30 km away. I suggested that they were responsible to provide me with the car I booked but they would still not commit to refund me the difference if I booked with Sixt. In the end I had to take a separate contract with Sixt at much higher rates and hope to recover the difference when their Customer Services wake up in the morning. Extremely poor service from both Alamo and Autoeurope.

No backup when things go (avoidably) wrong .

I have rented via Auto Europe several times, without incident. Sadly when things go wrong don’t expect any help, or even a reply. I rented a midsize from Orlando airport but got a sub compact totally unsuitable vehicle.
I queued for almost an hour to see the single (disinterested) agent on the desk, with 8 others behind me. I put the registration into the Visitors Toll Pass but was shocked at the crummy Kia Soul I was directed to. Within 24 hours the service light came on and a tyre was slowly losing air. I bought a cheap compressor to keep topping it up. I reported it when I took it back it but no action was taken. I sent 2 complaints to Auto Europe on my return but have not had a reply to either email. Horrible customer service and not worth the cheaper price in the event of a problem. I now have to invoke a Section 75on my CC as I certainly didn’t get what I booked and paid for. Dollar did not have enough vehicles for pre booked Customers and Auto Europe don’t care once they have got your money. Unfortunate.

THEIVES, THEIVES, THEIVES!

I will never book a rental with these theives ever again.
Booked a car through Auto Europe UK to be collected at Manchester Airport 0n 30th Dec 2025 from Budget. We had several issues with the car and Budget were absolutely fantastic with us. They refunded the cost of the car hire plus gave us a voucher for the next time we hire! Unfortunately they refunded Auto Europe and not us. I have been trying since Jan 5th to get our refund and only just now (6/3/26) have they informed us (after many ignored emails) to expect our refund in 20-25 working days, which is over a month in real time.
How do these cowboys get away with this?
No idea how they get a 5 star rating on their own website when I cannot seem to leave a review! You can make your decision on that one!

Not worth the ag, always go direct to car rental company

Booked car hire through AE UK for a short car rental from BFS International Airport.
Booking process & website was fine.

The issue arose at the Hertz desk. I know this is out of AE’s control, but it was arranged then and there due to the long wait for the vehicle I was allowed to cancel and have a full refund.

I personally coordinated this with AE representative and I spoke to the Hertz employee. I even had the AE person and Hertz employee confirm the cancellation and refund. I was told this was all sorted and just to await the refund.

7 days on I contacted AE to see when I can expect to receive my funds back as had not been refunded. This had not been actioned despite the representative at AE saying it was sorted. On chasing this up, I was met with a rude member of staff claiming I need to contact customer service, and no offering to coordinate that for me despite me waiting patiently thinking the refund was being processed.
Still awaiting refund, and correspondence from customer services department.

Morale of the story, even if it sheds off a few £; DO NOT do go through third party sites like this. When things go wrong it just creates extra work for yourself. If I had just booked through Hertz it would have been refunded as no ‘middle’ man. Lesson learnt and won’t be doing again.

Terrible customer service, **please read**

**READ BELOW** Try stay clear of this company and also their 3rd party use of OK MOBILITY.

I got charged £723 for the vehicle and charged €677 additional at the help desk in France for additional insurance with no explanation. I even took out car insurance before hand. We were in a situation where if we didnt pay, you have to walk away from the car with 3 children strandard. It didn't state anywhere what the money was for and why that figure was produced. OK MOBILITY were extremely rude and forceful to take this money for no valid reason. I feel we was extorted and many other people on the reviews feel the same. Auto Europe didn't want to support me and my family to resolve the issue although they were the company the rental was taken with. Extremely disappointing that they keep making it clear that the agreement is "non-refundable" which implies that they know its an issue but are not willing to have a duty of care. I asked for an explanation and facts which they replied "we wasn't there so unsure what was agreed"

This was a 11 day car hire and I received no further support. Its not even about the money, its the fact I was ripped off and unfairly charged which was the worst part and not having a childs dream holiday ruined

Awful, rude, service from Autoeuropes local agent Ezi

Sat in Christchurch airport waiting to collect car from EZI. After travelling for over 20 hours we were early for pick-up. Agent very rude and wouldn't even try to get our car a little earlier. We arrived 19.45 for 21.00 collection. Agent told us Autoeurope terms are not their terms despite our contract. Now worried whether we actually get a car similar to the one we ordered.
