AVOID AVOID AVOID - HORRENDOUS EXPERIENCE WITH A TECHNICIAN PROVIDED BY THIS SERVICE PROVIDER
To clarify, this review applies to both Auto Pro Locksmith, and ALSO Allservices4U, as I initially contacted Auto Pro Locksmith and they sent a technician from Allservices4U.
I wish Trustpilot gave me the option to leave 0 stars. To even leave 1 star is painful to do.
From the start, I clearly stated to the initial contact from Auto Pro that I needed a quote for a basic lock replacement, with an estimate that included the callout charge and hourly rate. I was told it would be £65 + VAT (if it was a basic lock, which it was as I had done my research on the security levels of locks), which seemed reasonable.
However, when the technician from Allservices4U finally arrived – three hours late – he suddenly informed me that the cost would be £65 + VAT plus an additional £90 for labor to drill and install the replacement lock. This labor took merely 10 minutes, and at no point during the booking process with Auto Pro was this hourly rate or labour cost estimate ever given. And here is the catch, I'm sure either company will reply and say their policy states X Y and Z, and we always charge £65 + VAT for callout then extra for the labour depending on what the labour is. If they reply here, I really really hope they don't try to make it sound like I just misread their policy and I am the only one to blame for the miscommunication. Because, and I have screenshots of the exact whatsapp conversation, I clearly asked for a quote that included the callout charge and an estimated hourly rate / labour cost, so that they could give me a rough estimate of the labour cost. I clearly understand they can't know exactly how much the labour cost will be, but I clearly asked for an ESTIMATE which should be reasonable to provide me. And they did, they came back and clearly stated a quote of £65 + VAT for what I asked of them (callout charge and hourly rate estimate).
As the technician from Allservices4U came and asked to charge me the 65+ VAT + £90 labour, I paused the interaction and called my original contact from auto pro loc to try to clarify the charges with the original contact. As I was speaking to the original contact, the technician pressured me aggressively, demanding the callout charge or telling me he would to leave. When I refused and tried to get more information from my original contact, he became hostile, further pressuring me to pay the callout charge for him to leave. I genuinely felt threatened and had no choice but to comply, and so I decided under considerable pressure to pay for the 65 callout charge and 90 labour cost, so that I didn't have to pay him a 65 callout then engage another company to pay another callout charge and another labour cost on top of that.
Adding insult to injury, the technician left metal shavings all over the apartment lobby floor, rudely stating it wasn’t his responsibility to clean up the mess. I ended up cleaning it myself.
This technician exemplified a textbook example of poor service and unprofessional behaviour. I STRONGLY, strongly, strongly advise against using a technician like the one Auto Pro Locksmith engaged, for any service. Save yourself the trouble and find a reputable, transparent, and professional technician.
If they comment below trying to pin the miscommunication on my lack of knowledge of their policy and that they just followed their charging policy, don't take that for granted and don't believe that they are completely faultless here. Because I clearly asked for a quote containing callout charge and an estimate for the labour cost, it could not have been more clear what information I was asking of them, and they replied, clearly giving me that quote for £65+VAT, and the technician on the day displayed an incredible level of unprofessionalism, not allowing me to clarify the charges.
I have also contacted them to enquire about a refund. They indicated that because I had already paid the technician (although this was under considerable pressure and distasteful unprofessional communication from the technician), it might be out of their hands to deal with the issue. But this makes no sense - if we both agree that I overpaid on the day, they should be amenable to resolving the issue, as it's all one company and one bank account.
