Poor experience
Having used 16,227 of our points, plus monies to book a Premier in London next weekend, we looked forward to taking our daughter to see Wicked. Our daughter is now going into hospital for an op on Thursday and so rang the hotel. They said all they required was an email from Avios. Having just spent two hours trying to simply amend the booking, Avios said we should have taken out insurance. You are unable to raise a complaint with an advisor as they are only contactable online and will reply by email. Poor form under exceptional circumstances.

Booked NH Hotels UK directly via the official NH website at an eligible rate, following Avios Special Terms to the letter — no vouchers, no third-party sites. Avios did not track. Opened a missing-points claim: refused, because NH Hotels UK's policy is not to accept any missing claims at all. British Airways / Avios.com refused to investigate further. In practice, the Avios offer on NH Hotels UK is unredeemable the moment anything goes wrong with tracking, with no recourse. Disappointing from BA, and a partner I will avoid in future.
No customer service, unprofessional - cut and paste responses
No customer service, totally unprofessional and lacking integrity. Cut and paste responses!
Avios appear worthless if ur american
Avios appear worthless if ur american. cant even trade them in fro amazon.....150K miles and no way to spend them. They cater to the UK, not the USA
The worst customer service ever.
The worst customer service ever.
I contacted Avios regarding a minor issue. I am short by just 100 points due to pending points on my American Express account, and I was simply trying to find a solution, including paying for the difference myself. As i finally managed to find a flight i really wanted to book.
What followed was one of the most unprofessional and frustrating customer service interactions I have ever experienced.
The advisor was dismissive from the outset, unwilling to listen, and made no attempt whatsoever to understand the situation. Every response was abrupt and negative, with zero effort to offer guidance, alternatives, or even a basic explanation. It was not just unhelpful it felt actively obstructive.
What was most striking was the complete lack of any customer-focused attitude. There was no empathy, no problem-solving, and no willingness to engage beyond repeating a rigid “no.” It genuinely felt like speaking to someone who had no interest in helping and should not be working in a customer service role.
This was a simple, fixable issue. I was missing 100 points and was fully prepared to pay for them. The refusal to even consider this, or to communicate in a remotely constructive way, is astonishing.
I ultimately had to end the call myself because the tone and attitude were so poor it became unbearable to continue.
If this is the standard of service Avios considers acceptable, customers should seriously reconsider their expectations.
Very disappointed and honestly your should review who you employ as your customer service team!!!!
Do not get Avios Master card Bank of ireland deal
Tesco has linked up with Aer Lingus offering flights for points.
It's all very disappointing and misleading.
I got Bank of Ireland Aer Master card thinking I'll get loads of extra avios and I got very little it seems.
I am bit shocked that Bank of Ireland has not done more research into all of this !!
Instead I have pay 6.50 euro per month for card.
Then my credit card bill is massive and stressful and I never know if its paid off on time.
So, then I got into Avios for your Thoughts and got addicted to doing surveys to get avios. But they are promising if you play their games you will earn 1,000s in points. So I've tried this but no idea if I'm earning points or not.
Besides all this, I went into see what flights I could book via Aer Lingus but its a disaster as can only go at certain times.
The taxes and charges have to be paid by you and so probably cheaper go with Ryan Air.
Taxes seem VERY High!!
Then i got excited and think I'll convert avios and use them to book hotel as that seems like better value !!
BUT I've a bad feeling about this, based on reviews here it might be a nightmare !!
Other thing is WHy are we being encouraged to gamble.
Then I went into Revolut and now my poor head is messed up as you can earn points with them that can be used as avios.
All very confusing.
Worst thing is that you are encouraged to buy extra avios !!
Consistently not applyiing the Avios…
Consistently not applyiing the Avios when purchasing via their website even though the vosit has tracked and no hlep when appealing the missing Avios.
Should be an option of zero stars
Should be an option of zero stars. Terrible company, terrible customer service. Can't believe BA associate with Avios. Avoid.
Dont want to even give it 1
Dont want to even give it 1. Website awful, cant reach anyone, cant log a complaint, 3.5 hrs to try and get avios points which had been fine-1.5 of those was on the whatapp. The chatbot was useless as ever. Absolutely terrible-still no resolution.
Avios wrong promotion of Budget car rental…
I hired a car through an Avios offer and paid on line what was supposedly the full hire price including local taxes and charges. No other charges were highlighted or advised. When I got the car in Geneva I could not take the car into France with out paying an extra (approx) £60. Avios refused to refund this and could not explain why this charges was not highlighted or even mentioned in plain sight on purchase. In fact Avios blamed the issue on Avis (not Budget) even though it was an Avios advert. You are all warned!
BA being brought into disrepute by AVIOS
I have been trying to use a companion voucher but the website booking system has not worked for me. On a previous occasion I just let the voucher lapse and will probably do the same again. In my experience the number of flights available with Avios points is, in any case, very limited even if one can navigate the site. BA seems to be making an effort to up it’s game but the airline is being brought into disrepute by the Avios system.
Scam alert.Absolutely rubbish service
Scam alert.Absolutely rubbish service. Only discovered on google reviews that this is their MO.Used Avios to book RTN flight LHR, Frankfurt LHR. My rtn flight was switched to an earlier flight at 3pm yet I had booked for the 1940 flight. My train ticket from effurt was rebooked for 1316 to arrive at the airport stout 430-5pm. To my utter shock I was informed that I was a no show for the flight around 3pm therefore had to fork out £307 for a one way ticket. Amex, avios , British Airways is a huge scam. Stay away as it is not what it’s painted to be. SCAMMERS- watch out if you book using Avios.
Absolutely rubbish points site - with no customer service
Absolutely rubbish !
If the retailer avoids adding your points you will find there is nothing that you can do and the agents that work for this scam could not care less - Just use this pointless points club with the thought in mind that you will not receive the points you are offered and that there is little or nothing you can do about it !
Won't let me convert my Avios back to Nectar.
Won't let me convert my Avios back to Nectar, keeps asking me to relink my account when it is already linked and already done. I've spent three hours trying to go through Nectar, Avios etc. No chat, phone or contact just an online form where they might respond after 2 working days. Phone numbers given by Nectar for Avios customer service are dead. Get your points out fast. I think they have no intention of honouring them.
Bad first impression
Signed up to Avios today, checked out the site and did transfers of points between airlines.
In the end I needed my avios on Loganair, so when I went to transfers the points I was presented with:
"For your security, we've temporarily paused certain actions."
LiveChat were not helpful at all. They didn't even have the ability to manually review or lift the restriction and told me to wait 14 days.
It is such a bad experience for a new customer. Even made a purchase of additional avios that I now cannot use for its intended purpose since i have to wait 14 days.
Awful customer experience
Awful customer experience. Cant even contact anyone when the system fails to address a specific fault. Left in a loop absolutely done my head in, so frustrating.
Avios is not worth the hassle
Avios is not a coordinated scheme across the platforms that subscribe to it. I have trapped Avios points with one airline that cannot be amalgamated with my main code share through trickery of processes. Avios, an absolute nonsense
no delivery from the shop avois
poor customer service, order tracking, when not arrivig i wish i have not used
Have saved £thousands over the years!
If you follow the rules, works really well for us, have booked many flights over the years and have saved £thousands!
Avios are an absolute joke.
Booked a hotel through Avios hotels and it was dreadful. I complained to the hotel who offered a full refund, but because it was booked via a 3rd party (Avios), I would need to contact them to chase any refund. There lies the issue, it’s impossible to actually speak to anybody, and the chat bot function is useless, and doesn’t cover this issue. When I finally got through to a person I was told I’d need to claim via British Airway, who then said I needed to claim via Avios. End result, no refund despite the hotel acknowledging that it had requested one on my behalf. Total rip off.
