Frankfurt Flughafen Terminal 1

Erstes Schreiben:
Dear Mr. Reinau,

Thank you for your letter regarding above rental. Hereby we would like to express our sincere apologies for the delayed reply.

Please note that you have called back the charged amount from your credit card institute and we were contacted by your bank in order to provide them all the relevant documentation regarding the issue.

In this case, we are not in the position to judge the situation but the credit card institute will reinvestigate the matter and make a decision on the possible refund.

Therefore, we would like to kindly ask you to contact your bank for further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding!

---
Nach Nachfrage was das genau bedeutet habe ich folgende Antwort erhalten, was schon eine Frechheit ist. Erstmal Geld abbuchen und jetzt Amex entscheiden lassen..!?!

Zweites Schreiben:
Dear Mr. Reinau,

Thank you for your reply.

In the case of a so-called CCQ procedure (Credit Club Query), the Avis Budget Group forwards all documents relating to this process to your bank. This independent institution will look into the case for you.

We will gladly accept the final decision of the credit card company, which remains to be seen.

Therefore, we would like to kindly ask you to contact your bank for further assistance.

Thank you for your understanding!

Best Regards,

We rented a car in Germany

We rented a car in Germany: booked an Avis vehicle at Check24. The price on the agreement with Check24 was about 140 euros, but we ended up paying 240 euros to Avis. The employee at Avis Koblenz lied to us about the final price, which was supposed to be considerably lower than the sum (~190 e) stated on the agreement that we had to sign in order to get the car we needed. In hindsight I know that it was stupid to sign. I can recommend neither Check24 nor Avis to anyone.

AVIS was easy to deal w overall but could have been a nightmare

RENTED AVIS IN STUTTGART GERMANY through AUTO EUROPE
AVIS was easy to deal with overall, however when I picked up the car and asked to walk around it with the sales associate, he said not to worry because all the damage was documented on the computer but the computer was down at the moment. I was hesitant and told him so and that I had had problems with other car rental companies trying to rip me off. He said to not worry. So I brought it back on the appointed day and he was there but there was another man checking the car and he walked around the car and pointed to a miniscule dent and asked me about it. He didn't speak any English. I told him we did not dent it and I did not know if it was there before. He had an unproffesional manner and started grinning and nodding his head. I took it as he was implying that I dented the car and of course I would say I didn't because all customers say that. He kept pointing at it and pointing at me. I went inside and reminded the original sales person that he declined to walk around the car with me in the beginning. After looking in his computer and looking up at me, he said, "don't worry, it's all ok" and that was it. What if the original salesperson wasn't there that day or if he didn't remember his interaction with me the first day? I find this very unprofessional and I don't remember car rental companies holding renters responsible for every dent and scratch when I used to rent cars before. That's what insurance is for. Nowadays every rental company except for a few try to get you for every scratch OR they try to sell you EXTRA insurance from the beginning. The car rental industry needs to be regulated! They are allowing scam companies and scam practices to take over a valuable service.

Avis Nightmare in Munich Germany

I guess I should have Googled Avis damage scam before I went to Munich Germany...I rented a car from Avis, When I picked up the car, my bill went from $538 to a little over $900 and it was the wrong car. I reserved a Mercedes and when I got there they said I reserved a Ford. I showed the lady my confirmation and she said I was wrong and I reserved a Ford but they had a Mercedes we could rent for the same price. The lady didn’t speak English very well so communication was difficult on both ends, and after 22 hours of traveling and 30 mins of trying to figure out why we were spending more than we were quoted, I handed over my credit card. BIGGEST mistake of my life! Two weeks with the car and no problems, no dints, dings or scratches. When we returned the car, the lady walked around the car and looked it over, checked the inside, everything was great, or so SHE SAID! Then she had us sign a document and told me that it was “conforming drop off of the car” so I signed it. Then she said “ terminal 1 and pointed the direction we were to go to catch our flight. When we got back tot the States, I checked our credit card and seen the bill for the car $2524.04; I couldn’t believe my eyes! I called Avis international and they opened a claim and said it would take 10-15 business days. When they finally responded they said we had scratches on the alloy rims and that was the charge. The sent me the bill, which is in German so I had to go to google translate to figure out the charges. A week later we get mail from Avis International, saying we owe another 145 euro for the damages. I sent another message to Avis international about the cost to upgrade my midsize Mercedes to an economy with a hatchback (smaller car) and the additional driver charge that they added too ( total additional charges 478 euro); still waiting for a response. In fact I have contacted them several times, the only response i get is “we considered this case closed”, well I’m sorry AVIS I DON’T CONSIDER THIS CASE CLOSED! Our trip to Europe was from March 17th-31st 2018 so as you can see I have only been fighting this battle for a few weeks. I will never rent from them again!

Surprised to see a bad rating for AVIS…

Surprised to see a bad rating for AVIS…
Surprised to see a bad rating for AVIS car rental.

In short, the best car rental in Munich,Germany.

I live in Munich, and people living there knows Public transport is the best transport for daily commuters, I often rent a car for making weekend trips. I have thoroughly analyzed the Car rental agencies, online cheap car rental booking services, etc. After 2 years of experience I am writing this review.

Avis is not bad at all, in comparison to Sixt and Hertz, AVIS is top. Avis provides basic CDW, unlimited Kms by default, if you book the car from your website. I am a AVIS preferred member (I spent no penny for it, just apply online and get one) therefore, I spend less time in the queues of AVIS counter where ever I go.

I do not buy Insurance from AVIS, I have a private yearly car rental insurance from icarhireinsurance website, since I have not encountered any accident (fortunately) I can not recommend my method but I had done my research on it. I usually say to AVIS personnel that I have private insurance (they never pushed me), because if you know the risks with that then it is okay.

Once, an AVIS car had a flat tyre on a saturday evening in Ostbanhof and AVIS people sorted out and gave me a new car even after their closing time. So far my experience has been really good with AVIS.

Scam AVIS Berlin Schönefeld Airport

Scam AVIS Berlin Schönefeld Airport

Rented a car here twice- in 2017 and 2016. Each time there was a small scratch detected which I am 100% sure I didnt cause. I only used the cars two days each time and only parked them in a closed area. When I returned the car last time it was early in the morning - AVIS reception was still closed - I checked the car thoroughly - no marks - got a bill for 900 Euros later for an apparent scratch. I have read many other similar reviews like this. BEWARE of this rental car scam! Make a thorough photo/video documentation of the car upon pickup/delivery! DO NOT rent from AVIS at Berlin SChönefeld!

Scam AVIS Bremen Airport

Scam AVIS Bremen Airport

Scam at AVIS Budget Bremen Airport! We rented a car at AVIS Budget car for only a few hours. Pickup and drop off were at Bremen airport. We checked the car when we left the garage and we checked it thoroughly when we dropped it off. The check was done not only by us, but also by an employee of AVIS. He gave us the OK sign and told us everything is okay. There was no damage seen by the us and the employee. No phone call or email, just a letter after one and half week with a damage of 600 euro. After some phone calls they told us the damage is 600 euro for a minor scratch. Minor scratch…..? You can imagine that we were really surprised.

I am commercial pilot for a major airline company and I have never experienced this. I rent a lot of cars all over the world, but this is unbelievable.

I wonder how AVIS will solve this. One thing is for sure, It won’t end here. Apparently more people have the same experience.

Keep you posted

After returning the car to the rental station 1 of the coworkers checked the car on damage and give us ok signal that everything was fine, now 2 weeks later we get a bill of damage on the left door for €600, this is a scam, fraud. Never ever rent a car here because the screw you over!!!!

scammed at the pickup.

payed the car on the website. Said nothing about extra winter charges. When I picked the car up at Tuzla airport I was forced to pay about 50 € because of a so called winter fee. Had no choice. Costumer service in Germany does not answer any of my mails for a month now.. Rentet some cars in Germany with no problem, but this time I was very angry. The 50€ is not worth it to take to lawyer but if I wantet they would 100% lose in court.

Extra fuel charge when returning

Upon returning the car in munich airport the return guy claimed that the car needed fuel which was not true as we just had fueled the car. He also explained that peugeot and citroen had bad gasolin fuel indicators. He then asked for a reciept for the gasolin which I didn´t have as I didn´t pay for the gasolin. So I had to pay for the "missing" gasolin. We were cleanly trapped by the rental agreement and the guy was pretty cool about it and 8 euros extra charge I will survive. But he did manage to make my mother in-law pretty angry. Oddly enough my inlaws rented the same car and fuel same place as us and didnt get an extra fuel charge. So remember the fuel receipt when dealing with AVIS in germany and renting a french car.

UPGRADE Scam!!!

Rent through rentalcars website and paid for.
Arrived at Munich airport to pick up.
As usual "upgraded" to better car (auto and diesel)
Signed and left
After return found out I have been charged for an upgrade I have never asked.
Lesson learnt

Take your time and check rental agrement even if it takes 1 hour.
Read read read ask ask ask again and even record a video to make sure they understand you wont allow them to rip you off.

Its their everyday scam.

They are used to saying sorry we cant refund.

Shame them through facebook here and twitter like platforms.

Disgraceful company

Unprofessional. Bad attitude.

No response
I had booked a car for my trip to South Africa. Unfortunately I had to cancel the reservation. According to the T&C's, the cancellation charge should have been 300 Rand. However AVIS charged the full rental amount of 113 EURO. I have asked them to get a refund, bur except of a automated confirmation EMAIL, nothing happened. Silence. This is not a behavior I am expecting from a professional company.
I will now pass the case to a law firm in order to get my money back

Horrible service in the airport of Malaga, Spain, the agent by the name Maria, thought she is the boss, trying to make a show there. First, they did not give me the car which i rented, second they had some extra fees which they wanted to charge and hide and most important, NEVER use AVIS, most horrible service i ever had in my life.

Being such a big company, they should take care first of all of their employees, because they are the reason why they suck!

Good Service but the car std needs improvement

Car is prepared in time! takes max 1 min to collect (with President Status) which is fantastic but the cars are most times without washer fluid, often Adblue is needed and the inside windows are so smeared that I have to clean otherwise driving at night is dangerous.
this is not Avis but their sub-company who prepares the cars issue
