THE STORY OF AZURE STANDARD really begins in 1971 when my family made radical changes in the operation of our 2,000-acre dry-land wheat and cattle ranch. In the 1950’s almost all the farmers in America began using chemical fertilizers because the lure of higher yields was just too great to pass up. Not long afterward, the soil deteriorated to the point where the weeds and insects began to attack the crops, so pesticides and herbicides soon followed. Our family was caught in the cycle like most farmers, until 1971 when we took our farm out of the chemical cycle “cold turkey,” so to speak. In the first year, the chemical-dependent land only produced a small percentage of what it had formerly produced. At this point most farmers would have gone back to chemical use for economic survival. But, sticking to our convictions, we fought ignorance and lack of information in order to keep on without chemical use. As the years went on, the soil slowly regained its natural fertility. As a result of farming in this manner, both commercially, and on smaller scale in large gardens and orchards for our own use, our family became healthier. We began selling this healthier food to others who also wanted to reap the benefits of better nutrition. Our newfound customers soon began asking for different natural and organic products which we didn’t grow here on our farm, but we scrambled to find those products for them. Thus, in 1987, Azure Standard was born. Here, we understand that naturally grown foods are instrumental in producing a long and satisfying life. We’d like to see more farmers and home gardeners turn to natural organic growing practices, so we do what we can to not only support the organic farmer, but also provide as many organic products as possible. We chose to call our business Azure Standard, to signify by the name what we are attempting to do. Azure is a shade of blue which has been associated with law, justice, and honesty. In raising an azure standard, we want to place an honest standard in the marketing of food. We feel that the correct way to effect a positive change is not to attack the way it is being done, but to begin to do it right. We are dedicated to the “organic principle” of cooperating with nature and we pray others will join us so that we may once again see prosperity in our land. David Stelzer Azure Founder and CEO

Satisfied customer

This was my first experience with Azure Standard. I found the website easy to navigate and the purchase process smooth. My order was reviewed several times. I also had time to add some items to my order, this also went smoothly. Azure kept me informed of the status of my order throughout with reminders of my drop off date and location. The drop off was very organized and went smoothly.

Poor customer service all around on…

Poor customer service all around on this last delivery. Delivery was TWO weeks after the order close date, not the week it was scheduled for when we placed our orders. Azure should have confirmed with customers that the extra week delay was OKAY before placing order. A simple email asking customers to confirm their delivery a week later would have sufficed. Not only was my order late, but had to retrieve and store for people who had gone out of town (they were here the week it was supposed to be delivered and were not offered the option to cancels Horrific customer service!).
To top it off the driver arrived 40 minutes late and took more than half an hour to get the first pallet off the truck…and it was “after hours”.
Left many of us standing around saying “last time”…

Disappointing. Would not have been difficult to have done this rightly by the customers.

I enjoy a user friendly site when…

I enjoy a user friendly site when searching for products or looking at sale items. I love that it arrived on a dedicated truck in a very timely manner. Both of my experiences have been wonderful and hope my future orders continue to be this way.

I'd give it zero stars

I'd give it zero stars, but that is not an option. They shipped a week late. When I called customer service to confirm as I was moving across the state, they claimed I could just let it return. There was no mention I was on a non-returnable route even though they had my information. When I wrote to express my frustrations, I was told it was my fault. In the almost 20 years of being a customer this repeats frequently - something goes wrong and it is the customer's fault.

All products arrived and well packaged.
Everyone at our stop is friendly and fun to visit with.
The only down side this time was the truck being lat and time changed several times on short notice. Then unloading took way too long. Yea it was a huge load, but the driver took way too long.
Very unusual. Otherwise it was another great experience.

We want to love Azure on delivery day

While we love Azure's offerings, the pickup is just too unreliable. The last couple of times I've ordered, the truck had to reschedule the original time (which is hard enough to rearrange schedules for). And this latest time, it was rescheduled the day before and he was still an hour late, which meant I had to ask others to grab my items since I had carefully planned pickup around my children's schedule. I needed to pick them up from preschool and appointments and could not wait any longer for the truck to arrive. I am also consistently disappointed with produce - the onions I ordered this time were all soft and squishy. Plant starts are always lovely somehow and I appreciate bulk buying dry & canned goods from Azure, but it's often not worth the headache of tracking that truck.

Its always so pleasant to meet the…

Its always so pleasant to meet the people and how we come together to unload the truck and then stack the items people get. Great products and the truck drivers are always so pleasant too. Love you guys and you offer such wonderful products. Glad I found you.

The drop-off at my daughter's store

The drop-off at my daughter's store . I get to have time with her while waiting on delivery.
Everything was marked well for people to get there orders.
Since this place is a new drop-off hard to get word out to reach the amount needed to get a order. I am hoping after a few deliveries word will get out better were a person is assured to not have to wait a month on there order. I truly understand why you have to put a dollar amount to pay everyone. To keep trucks on the roads and fuel going up.
