Great pizza but poor service and pricing model

The pizzas were amazing. However, it took over 2 hours to get the two first pizzas (we ordered four). The other 2 came 20 minutes later. When we were about to pay we got very surprised that the tap water they had handed us was on the bill. We didn’t ask for it and the waiter kept coming with bottles. We paid 140 DKK for tap water which is probably the most money I ever paid for tap water. In conclusion, good food but service and pricing model is off

Unprofessional Service

Last Saturday, we went to Bæst for dinner. I have been several times and have always enjoyed the great pizzas and vibe there. This time we went to try out some of the other dishes. The house made salumi and cheeses were excellent. The bresaola in particular stood out with its subtle hints of juniper that differentiated it from any commercial bresaola I had ever had.

We then tried the roasted pulpo. This was a miss. The pulpo was basically burnt. When we were asked how the meal was, we expressed our concern that the pulpo was over roasted. The server ensured us it was correct and checked with the kitchen. On her return we were informed it was correct. When I indicated that when I ate the blackened tail that it dissolved into a powder into my mouth, I was told that that was how it was supposed to be. It was as if I had taken a bite into a lump of charcoal. The house n’duja sauce couldn’t save it because all one could taste was burnt food. When my wife indicated that we have had this dish many times in Spain and Italy and that we are well versed in how it should be prepared, the server raised her voice and provokingly stated “Well, we are not in Italy!”. Then there was an awkward silence. My wife and I looked at each other speechless. My feeling is that if you are going to charge 260 DKK for a small piece of octopus, it should be perfect. That’s fine though…so we didn’t like their preparation…I just would never order that again….I would follow my instinct and just stick with pizza there. But the most disappointing thing is this…I likely will not be back for the simple feeling that we didn’t feel welcome. I don’t want to drop over 1000 kronor for a dinner to be verbally berated. Service is the one thing you have the most control of when running any b2c business.

Tasteful pizza, but tiny and overpriced

The pizza was tasteful but tiny and expensive, possibly the smallest pizza I've ever had roughly about 1/2 the size what you get at brilliant pizza places in Cph, e.g. MaMeMi and Mother. We wanted a glass of wine but gave up because the wine list was likewise overly expensive and ended up with bottled beers. The waiters were kind which is the reason for the 2nd star.

Bad service

have just been there - but chose to go again. The place had just opened at 12 - and we waited nicely at the entrance for 10 min - without a welcome or anything else. the staff were doing something else, fx making tea for themselves! We asked if they really were open? at last we got a seat - and no menu card. I asked for one and was told that we got it later with instruction - after which the girl continued with something else. Then we packed our stuff and found a place opposite - BRUS - with really nice service and nice food.

Nice pizzas, but...

We were a group of 6 dining at Bæst the other night. We all had the menu "Lille Bæst". The food was ok, nothing spectacular, the pizzas however were really great.
The problem was that I was asked if we wanted water to go with the wine (we bought a bottle of red and white), I said yes please, one still and one sparkling. I will gladly pay for water, but this was over the line. It is common practice at Copenhagen restaurants that you pay for water once, unless it is bottled water – at Bæst they used a different practice. Bæst kept on bringing in bottles of water, which I thought was a good service, until I saw the bill of 175 kr. for water. They just charged us for every single refill, without notifying us.
This is not a complaint about the 175 kr., which annoyed me, but the idea of ripping people off without letting them know.
