About a decade after completing my master’s degree in International Marketing Management, I decided to make a career pivot and pursue my passion for interior design. Enrolling in the Higher National Diploma in Interior Design at BIAD has been such a great decision, and I’m really happy with my experience so far.

Even though I’m only about 4-5 months into the program (roughly 25% completed), I’ve already learned so much—things I know I wouldn’t have picked up as quickly if I had just tried to “learn by doing” on my own. The course is well-structured, covering both the creative and technical sides of design, and the assignments feel practical and relevant.

One of the highlights for me has been my tutor, Rita Marques. She’s been supportive, providing valuable feedback and always answering my questions clearly and quickly, which has made a big difference in my learning experience. Having a tutor who genuinely engages and provides helpful feedback has been really valuable.

I also love the flexibility of the course. Being able to attend online and work at my own pace has made it much easier to balance my studies with other commitments. It’s given me the freedom to really absorb the material while still progressing steadily.

Overall, I’m really enjoying the program, and I feel like it’s setting me up with the right skills and knowledge to build a career in interior design. If you’re considering a structured, well-supported online course in interior design, I’d definitely recommend BIAD!

British Academy of Interior Design was always very supporting at every step of the way. From assignment guidance provided from the tutors to any technical or administrative queries, the team is always helpful willing to assist in a good time frame.
The academy provides you with a great amount of knowledge, useful books recommendations , readings and self-learning and growing possibilities, such are the student membership at the BIID, which gives you the opportunity to visit CPD courses and also student free entrance for many major design exhibitions.
Learning while having a family in such a dynamically changing environment it is not easy but the Academy made sure I have the full support leading to a successful graduation. Thank you

I'm really enjoying the course material, and get lots of support from the Course Tutors and Student Services Advisors. They're really responsive and helpful whenever I have any questions.

Overall my experience is very positive. The tutors are extremely helpful and respond quickly to queries, in a clear manner. The fact that the course is home study is great as it means you can study at your own pace without pressure. There is also lots of learning material available in the lessons for each unit.
However, I do find the course assignments can be a little repetitive and lengthy sometimes, which makes it harder to remain motivated and could easily cause confusion. However despite this, it means your learning is thorough, so I would certainly recommend the course to others!

I am currently studying the Interior Design HNC course online, and it has been a fantastic learning experience. Before enrolling, I had already studied interior design in a different country and have been working in the field for three years. Despite my experience, I am still learning a lot from this course, which provides valuable insights and practical knowledge that I can apply directly to my work.

The online learning system is well-structured, informative, and easy to navigate. I especially appreciate that the assignments are practice-oriented, allowing students to develop real-world skills rather than just theoretical knowledge. My tutor, Catarina, is incredibly supportive—her feedback on assignments is detailed and constructive, and she always responds to questions promptly.

Balancing work and studies can be challenging, but this course is absolutely worth the effort. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their interior design skills, whether they are beginners or professionals seeking to grow further in the industry.

I love the detail of the resources for each assignment, they're very helpful.
My tutor is approachable and gives prompt answers via email. I would love the possibility of scheduling calls, sometimes. Some things are better explained over a call.
The course is tough and requires a lot of time, but I believe it prepares very well for the profession

I have just enrolled on the Graphic Design Diploma with B.A.I.D From the very 1st contact I have found them to be extremely informative and helpful, answering the many questions I have had in deciding which course would suit me best, their expertise has been invaluable. If you’re looking for a course that challenges you, isn’t overly easy, and provides a qualification at the end, this is the one for you. My experience started off a bit rocky, as finding the right tutor can be a matter of trial and error. However, I’m currently working with Catarina, and we’ve developed a great connection. She communicates effectively, understands me, and has made the course far more enjoyable and engaging.

I am just two modules away from completing the course, and I can honestly say that, in hindsight, the experience has been invaluable, and I have no regrets. If you, like me, find online learning challenging, you may face some struggles along the way - but rest assured, you will get through it.

This journey is deeply personal for me, and my review will reflect that. Having spent most of my life working in hospitals with a medical background, the stress eventually took its toll, prompting me to embark on a new chapter. I've always had a passion for interior design. During university, I was diagnosed with dyslexia, which primarily affects my working memory. It was a tough journey, but I managed to graduate. Recently, I discovered that my dyslexia are more likely linked to ADHD. Starting this new path after so many years presents significant challenges for me, often leading to feelings of pressure and anxiety. However, I've had the privilege of meeting incredible tutors through the British Academy of Interior Design. I recognize that I’ve taken on one of the biggest challenges of my life, and their unwavering support has been invaluable. As a mother of two, studying onsite isn’t feasible, so I’m completing an online course with weekend classes. I can genuinely say that my experience with BAID has been overwhelmingly positive; the tutors I've encountered have displayed immense patience and support. For someone like me, who navigates ADHD and finds certain tasks challenging, their assistance is truly priceless.

I am a mature student and a mum to 2 children and 1 adult child. I had a really hard 2 1/2 years and was not able to do the course i was on. It would mean i wouldn't complete the course. However speaking with student services they gave me the news that if i could send them paperwork to show the hardship i had experienced across the years, i could get an extra year free to study the course and complete it. This is what I've done and i am now on my way to completing my course and becoming an interior designer.

The academy is great, they give you so much help and information to complete your course. As well as videos, tutor sessions, study sessions or you can go to classes and it really can work around family life and work. Its meant that i can do the career I've always wanted to do.

If your worried about payment of the courses they offer payment plans that are reasonable and flexible. It's really worth looking into if you want to start a career in interior design.

I’m doing the HND home study course and everyone has been very helpful. In the beginning I corresponded with course advisor Joao Figueiredo and now with my tutor Rita Marques. Both of them answer my questions in detail and are overall very welcoming.

Enjoyable experience!
The on-site classes have been incredibly fun and informative and I really enjoyed connecting with the other students and tutors during that time. The online library and resources center is really helpful and the online tutors are usually very quick to respond.
If I could improve one thing I would add more on-site classes as I just think they keep the motivation going.

My recent experience of BAID has been great. My tutor and the support staff have been especially helpful over the last year, in better guiding me through interior design assignments and helping me prepare my portfolio for professional work while living overseas. Studying remotely at degree-level has been challenging, but I am thankful for the support received. BAID are especially helpful for students based on the UK, as the online course can be supplemented with classroom studies and work experience opportunities.
