Don't assume your DD will continue to work!
In September of 25 I switched from bank A to Bank B. Bank A confirmed the a/c was closed & Bank B sent a written confirmation that all my 'Payment' arrangements including a DD for the DVLA had been transferred.
In February 26 DVLA advised that my DD had been successfully set up for payment in early March 26, but fortunately I noticed the details specified Bank A. I tel. bank A who confirmed Bank B had transferred all payments so I rang bank B who were equally adamant that all the recipients of DD's had been informed of the DD change in sort no. & a/c number.
The next day I rang the DVLA & here is the sting:
DVLA WILL NOT ACCEPT INSTRUCTIONS FROM BANKS, EVEN WITHIN THE SWITCHING AGREEMENT, TO UPDATE THEIR DD.
Everyday we read of people convicted via the Single Justice Procedure (SJP) because by the time somebody realises the problem it is too late & SJP does NOT look at mitigating factors.
My reading of this incident is that: "BEING INFORMED OF A NEW DD DOES NOT MEAN IT HAS BEEN ACCEPTED, OR WILL BE ACTIONED!
