All around terrible

My dog is a bully mutt. Always wanted to know what he’s mixed with. Basepaws at the time used similarity scores instead of percentages, which leads me to believe they have no idea what my dog actually is. They just threw every different variation of bully breed into the results. These people do not know what they are talking about. They recently switched and started using percentages and removed the similarity scores, but when I reached out explaining how disappointing their test was the first time they didn’t care. They just sent me a link to buy a new one full price. They are not there to help you they are there to squeeze as much money as possible from you. NEVER ordering from them again. That test I bought from basepaws was a complete waste of money and time. I guarantee if I go buy one from embark it’ll be completely different results from this bull shit. Overall, inaccurate results, terrible customer service, and not at all knowledgeable.

total incompetence

I sent my dog's sample in November of 2025. In January, 2026 I received an email saying that they didn't have enough sample to test and wanted to send me another kit. I received that kit and was sure to swab the dog's mouth extensively, even managing to get a little blood because I scraped so hard. I sent it back and today, March 18 I received ANOTHER email telling me the same, and blaming it on any meds that he might be on. He is not on any meds, and as a physician I'd say I'm pretty competent at getting a sample. These people are not only slow, but they are also incompetent. I have requested a refund, and if I don't get it I'm going to blast them all over social media. Complete waste of time.

I bought 5 tests on dogs I had bred…

I bought 5 tests on dogs I had bred myself. Knew the breed, own the parents, have parents dna from another company. Wait 6 weeks for results, for the breed to be inaccurate, 4 or the 5 say a part springer spaniel, it didn’t matter that they are 100% poodle it said it. Just to verify I paid another company tested them 100% poodle

DO NOT USE! Generic report!!

Please do not use this company for your pet's DNA. My husband purchased this for me for Christmas. The report they sent was worthless. It was all generic--"your dog is a small breed, your dog has scent hound lineage, your--wow! I could've told you that. She weighs 20lbs and looks like a beagle. We were expecting a report that said your dog is 25% Beagle and 75% something else. Now we have to pay more money for another report from a reputable company.
