Batik Air does not turn on the air conditioner until it is in the air.
Batik Air does not turn on the air conditioner until it is in the air. In other words, you will board a totally hot aircraft and you have to wait for everyone to board and take their seats, then wait for pushback, then wait for runway taxiing, then wait for the aircraft to take off and finally , wait for the plane to climb to cruising altitude and only then will they turn on the air conditioner. Flight number ID 7159 Jakarta-Singapore, 15 August 2025, 5:05pm. Also, plane is dilapidated and in the poorest of condition: everything is tattered, cabin lights don’t work or are flickering, and one cabin light kept on flickering when the pilot shut down all lights on take-off. Flight: full. Outside temperature: degrees Celsius. Service crew: absolutely perfect.
SCAM
SCAM! Online has surfboard fees published, but when reached counter in DPS Bali was told that policy was for Batik air Indonesia, not Batik air Malaysia, who are seperate (of course there is no mention of this online, and the surfboard policy for Batik air Indonesia does not mention a seperate entity exists with seperate fees)
So they demand I pay $300 to fly 2 hours with my board....
Staff also very rude. Complaints team are worst I have ever dealt with, complete lack of care and ability to read or answer the simplest question.
Airplanes are also old and poorly maintained.
Nadira, Executive - Customer Care Operations handeling the complaint should not have a job, used to manage a customer service team and her level of ability would result in immediate flagging for more training and observation...
Terrible airline with terrible reimbursement policies
Terrible airline! They delay the flight for more than two hours which is basically impacting my all consequent travelling plans, and they don’t allow the cancellation with full refund because it’s less than 3h??
What kind of policy is that? Will never fly with them!
How @Turkish Airlines and @Batik Air…
How @Turkish Airlines and @Batik Air Ruined Our Family's Christmas (A Cautionary Tale)
Last October, we bought plane tickets for our children so they could spend Christmas with us in Bali. However, that dream trip turned into a humiliating, 8-month struggle with two airlines that continues to this day. I'm sharing our story to warn other travelers.
The Facts, in Short:
• The Journey: Dec. 25-26, 2024, Budapest -> Denpasar. Tickets were purchased as a single booking on the official @Turkish Airlines app, with the final leg (Kuala Lumpur -> Denpasar) operated by @Batik Air.
• The Problem: Upon arrival, all three of our family's checked bags were missing.
• The "Resolution": After 3 days, 2 bags arrived. We had to collect them from the airport ourselves. My son's suitcase is still missing.
Months of Stalling and Humiliation:
My son's suitcase was verbally declared lost by an agent in January, but we had to wait until June for an official, written confirmation from Batik Air. During this time, the airline even referred to the luggage as "allegedly lost," essentially accusing us of making it up.
The low point came recently. After finally accepting their ridiculous compensation offer just to close the case, they first sent an email confirming everything was ready for payment. Ten minutes later, they sent another email from the same agent, halting the process by again claiming a document was missing.
The Real Loss:
The suitcase contained irreplaceable items: Christmas gifts for our family celebration, a DJI Osmo Action 4 camera, and what hurts the most: my son's special, irreplaceable band T-shirts purchased at concerts, which hold deep sentimental value.
The Attitude of the Airlines and Authorities:
• @Turkish Airlines: As the official seller of the ticket, their response was to completely wash their hands of the problem. They repeatedly told us to deal with the final operating carrier, despite evidence suggesting the bag was lost during the handover between the two airlines in Kuala Lumpur. So much for their "award-winning" service.
• @Batik Air: Constant stalling, shifting responsibility, and ultimately trying to force us to sign an outrageous indemnity clause to receive compensation.
• Malaysian Aviation Commission (MAVCOM): The official regulatory body, who, after a lengthy process, ultimately failed the passenger they are supposed to protect.
And after all this, despite Batik Air confirming in writing weeks ago that they have all the necessary documents to process the payment, not a single cent has been transferred to this day.
My goal with this post is no longer about the money. It's to let everyone see how these two airlines treat their passengers. Think carefully about who you entrust with your luggage.
I can prove every single one of my claims with official correspondence, reports, and video recordings.
Please share this so other travelers can avoid the same fate.
WARNING
WARNING: DO NOT BOOK WITH THESE COWBOYS! Their customer service is non existent and they will do anything to get more money out of you as a passenger. Checked in as a business class customer at local airport in KL. Was then told my middle name wasn't on the booking (it was) so they forced me to pay an additional fee to change the name on both bookings. Plus no lounge for business class passengers. Numerous other bad experiences from other customers (wish I had read them beforehand!), so please avoid for your own sake.

Don’t Use Lion Group Airlines (Batik Air, Lion Air, Super Jet)
I had a very bad experience with Lion Group airlines. A weeks ago, my flights were delayed four times in one day. Because of that, I missed my flight to Japan.
I tried to complain at the airport, but the batik air staff said, “It’s not our responsibility, contact the airline.” When I contacted the airline, they said, “It’s not our responsibility, talk to the airport staff.” No one wanted to help me.
Now I understand why Lion Group is known as one of the worst airlines. I really hope they stop operating.
If you want a better experience, I suggest flying with Citilink or Garuda Indonesia. The price is not much different, but the service is much better.

Bought a business flight ticket and the agent at the doors told me to throw the bottle that i just bought.
its my third and last flight with them, Never flying with Batik Air again
No customer service support - worst airlines avoid
Flight OD352 rescheduled from 2-hr transit to 11-hr transit in Kuala Lumpur. No response after multiple emails. Complaint filed with MAVCOM. Avoid if you value schedule reliability.
And these fools are not even ashamed !!!
89% negative 🤣🤣🤣
And these fools are not even ashamed !!!
Book, get stupid bullsh** response like „payment failed“ and never hear from this losers again.
Unbearable !!!
Obviously these clowns are stuck in another century…
Worst airline in Asia booked and paid…
Worst airline in Asia booked and paid for 10Fget given 29C on checkin. The girl at the counter was the equivalent to talking with a cat🤣. Done this before to me but never again Batik
Wish I could give zero
Never had worse experience! They were checking the weight of our hand luggage and suddenly everyone had more than 7kg. It's ridiculous, I had summer clothes for 3 day trip and basic cosmetics so it couldn't be mpre than 7kg. I had the same backpack when I traveled to Germany, had my heavy winter clothes for 7 days in it and it was 4kg then and now it's magically overweight. They didn't let me throw anything out because they said we have no time for that. They pressured everyone to pay just so we can sit for 30 minutes in the plane before it finally moved. It was BOILING hot inside, we were sweating like crazy and didn't even get small water. We had to buy water, but only after almost 1.5h, so I was hot, thirsty and robbed. Literally never again!
atik Air Rescheduled My Flight Without Consent – No Support, No Response
I had a confirmed booking on Flight OD352 from Kuala Lumpur to Surabaya on 29 August 2025 (Ticket No: 4753731655752 and PNR: CNLEDH).
Batik Air rescheduled the flight without any prior notice or approval, increasing my layover significantly and disrupting my prepaid travel plans in Indonesia.
Despite multiple emails requesting an explanation and rebooking options, the airline has been completely unresponsive. The only reply I got was an instruction to call a Malaysian number — which is unreasonable, as I am traveling from India and have requested resolution via email.
This is unacceptable service from an international airline. No ownership, no accountability. If you are traveling internationally or have connections to manage, I strongly recommend avoiding Batik Air.
I am escalating this further via DGCA India, AirSewa, and payment dispute channels.
The worst airline I've ever flown with
The worst airline I've ever flown with! They're crooks! They tell you they don't accept checked baggage and then charge you €17 per kg to check it in!! CHEATERS!!! Don't fly with them!!
WORST AIRLINE, terrible service, rescheduling is a SCAM
Brisbane-Bali:
Flight was 2+ hrs delayed, they left half of the plane's luggage behind, it took 2 days to get it and we had to go pick it up at the airport ourselves, no compensation whatsoever. They announced that we flight was going to be delayed the day before, but didn't update the new departure time until 3.30AM, the original departure was 7.15am.
No water or powerpoints on a 6hr flight!!! Only 300ml bottles for sale, for a ridiculous price.
I also have a departing flight booked with them. Tried to reschedule, website is glitching. Whatsapp chat says to use website or customer service phone, which is a Malaysian number and none of my sims let me make international calls from Bali.
Eventually tried to reschedule on my phone instead of my laptop, which worked better. Original ticket was 5.2mil IDR. It costs and EXTRA 7.4mil to reschedule. Whereas it's only 5.4mil to buy a brand new ticket for the same flight. SCAM!!!
Will be canceling and never flying with Batik again.
If I could give less than 1 star I would.
Continual long delays of flights, with little to no communication from Batik until you check in. They never leave on time. You will sit on the plane with no aircon for an hour until take off. Rude and inexperienced staff. We had a 6 hour flight and were told drinks were sold out a couple of hours in. No offers of water or food. They show no concern for passenger safety or well being which is deeply worrying. Lack of cleanliness and hygiene, broken seats, not enough room in overhead lockers. They will force you to not take your carry bag on. Appalling airline all round. Don’t make the mistake of giving this airline a second chance like we did.
Flight cancelled, replacement flight 5h later is delayed by 2h.
Our original flight should leave at 11.45. Upon arrival at the airport in Manado on 9.30, we discovered that the flight was cancelled. We did not get any message. The replacing flight should leave at 17.45. Still waiting at the gate, on the time the plane should take of, we hear that the flight has been delayed. Worthless.
No food and continuos delays
No in flight food for such an expensive ticket. I'm really disappointed. Also the flight was delayed again and again. Batik air sorry I'm not flying with you again.
You will be late to your destination
I have been using Batik Air Indonesia and Malaysia. Can’t get boarding passes across the two “airlines” so you must go in my case Jakarta, and stand in line after the flight to Jakarta to check in for your pass. Online check in? No option for international travel. Boarding pass aside, not once in 5 flights with them have I not been delayed without warning in 2 occasions. Waiting now on another 90 minute delay for whatever reason and the board says “boarding”. Needless to say it’s chaotic and the staff are nowhere to be found for answers. Two flights for a duration of 4 hours both delayed for a total of 4 hours?! Not reliable is an understatement!
Lazy personel at the airport
Lazy personel at the airport. I check in for my flight and ask to be upgraded to business class only to be told that business is full for both my flights. I board the flights and both have 4 empty seats in business class. Woman was Lazy, lazy, lazy to upgrade me. The flight was also delayed 3 hours. Lazy, lazy.
Worst Airline of 2025
no AC until AFTER takeoff, waiting for the crew 1 hour at the gate, then waiting another hour in the plane (no AC) it was like 38 degrees inside the plane and noone even offered us water. we departed 2 hours later completely exhausted and with little to no more oxygen left inside the cabin and we only got a little apology for the AC, not even the delay. never again!
