You're paying for stylist consultations, not curated outfits.
If I could rate this website a 0, instead of a single star, I would do that.
When I purchased a "trial" subscription with beauty plan online, (which is also called "Lumi" & "Style me now"... Major red flag!), I thought I was going to receive an actual curated BOHO style outfit based on the information I provided prior to the trial offer. Most subscriptions mail you a product right?
Not this company.
After completing the quite lengthy online questionnaire with distinct style objectives, colors, patterns preferred, accessories, tastes and clothing preferences, I received a follow up email that I had an online appointment to speak with a stylist to help curate my first outfit. This email put me off somewhat as I just spent a lot of time answering questions and making selections to the types, styles, patterns, and colors (etc;) to my personal clothing preferences, so why do I need to speak to a stylist? (2nd major red flag!).
Having no other choice, I scheduled an appointment date with the online stylist, but because of my rather hectic lifestyle, I simply forgot... rescheduled for a second online stylist consultation, and forgot again.
Now I hear nothing from the company. They didn't send a follow-up email indicating I had missed my stylist appointment(s) and that it's necessary that I speak with the stylist... nothing.
A couple of weeks passed, and now the trial period has ended and I've been billed for a full subscription for which I haven't received anything. No stylist consultation, (which I wasn't aware of prior to purchase, was included), and no outfit... which I expected since I'd already given them all the information they needed to curate one. I immediately went to PayPal and canceled the subscription. PayPal is a wonderful way to pay when you're using online websites that you haven't done business with. They make it very easy to cancel subscriptions, especially when a company starts a subscription and you haven't even received the product yet. After canceling the subscription through PayPal, I then contact this company via email and ask them when am I going to receive the outfit that I was supposed to receive based on the questionnaire and the preferences I indicated? Since the clothing I was interested in is BOHO style, I emphasized that I really wanted one of those cute little boho hats to go with my curated outfit. (Which I really expected to have received by now, since it's been a couple of weeks)... They respond saying, you don't get an outfit, you're paying to consult with stylists, (and based on your preferences), they assist you in putting together outfits, and send you "links" to other websites where you purchase these items yourself. I explained to her that was not my understanding at all, and that I didn't realize I was paying for a "stylist service" (which I didn't utilize anyway), but that I thought I was paying for a trial subscription to a service I would continue if I liked the outfit they curated. She indicated I needed to re-read the "refund policy", & the "subscription rules", (which I already had 2 weeks,or so ago... that are very vague & difficult to understand... as well as impossible to remember!) & that I did not qualify for a refund at this point.
Thanks to PayPal, as soon as I opened a dispute resolution, and after answering a few questions, the subscription amount of $29.99 was refunded to my PayPal account within minutes. Unfortunately, I lost the $7.99 that I paid for the trial subscription.
I know $7.99 is pretty cheap for an outfit, but I actually believed the company is so confident customers would love the outfits they curate, this inexpensive introductory or trial offer results in most customers continuing the subscription. There are many subscriptions available at different prices, me, (being my naturally cautious self), chose the least expensive subscription option, and I'm so glad I did.
In essence, this company needs to be more transparent about what you're actually receiving, and make it perfectly clear that you are not receiving a subscription for curated outfits that you physically receive in the mail based on your preferences, but for a stylist consultation service where clothing items are suggested, and then you purchase them separately. I told her I felt their website was deceptive and misleading and that I had already canceled the subscription in PayPal, and had received a refund already. Her response this time was she was aware the dispute had been opened, and I should consult with PayPal per the outcome.
This Company needs to clearly state you are purchasing stylist consultations & not curated outfits. Now you know.
