Manufacturer kept up to standard by Bedstar

Chose Bedstar as they had a showroom and valid address after noting that many of the online bed suppliers still trading were listed at Companies House as dissolved and the named directors all resigned. Bedstar responded to my complaint and got the manufacturer to replace the divan base and take the faulty one away. Now very happy and thanks to Gareth who dealt so efficiently with the problem.

Only interested in your money

Bought a standard double bed you could see the slats on either side of the mattress Christine refused to accept this was an issue even though both mistress and bed were bought from them. I wouldn't recommend they're interested in your money not your satisfaction youre stuck with the utem whether you're happy or not. I should've gone legal really

Thank you for sharing your concerns, though we respectfully disagree with your assessment of the situation.
As I advised previously, after reviewing the image of the ottoman frame, the design of the bed intentionally includes a gap on either side to allow bedding to be tucked if desired. This is not a defect—it is a functional feature of the bed’s design. The slats being visible from the side does not affect the bed’s performance or structural integrity.
I’m afraid that since there is no fault with the bed itself, we could not accept it for a return. Our responsibility is to supply items as described and fit for purpose, which we have done. The bed operates exactly as intended. While we regret that you are unhappy with the aesthetic aspect, we cannot offer a refund or exchange when the bed has been used based on a design feature that is clearly outlined and standard for this type of ottoman bed.

Regarding your comment about being “interested in your money”—we are a business, and like any business, we would expect payment for goods that have been delivered as described and are free from defect. Customer satisfaction is important to us, but it must be balanced with fairness and the terms of sale.

Bedstar delivery tracked mud on my new carpet

Ordered a bed - paid the requested extra for delivery and removal of the old mattress. The delivery company that Bedstar uses tracked mud on my new carpet. I contacted Bedstar and they say that it is not their responsibility. I should have covered all of my floors prior to the delivery. WOW!

When you paid for delivery and removal of your old mattress, that fee covered the logistics of transporting your new bed and taking away the old item. It does not extend to full liability for every action of the third-party delivery company, nor does it make us responsible for protecting your flooring.

We advised you that any potential mess from delivery drivers—such as muddy footprints—is unfortunately beyond our direct control. It is standard practice for customers to take reasonable precautions, such as laying down protective sheeting or temporary flooring coverings, especially during poor weather conditions.

We sympathise with the inconvenience caused by the mud, but we cannot accept liability for a situation that is beyond our control. We did advise you to contact the third party couriers to discuss the matter further if you wished to do so.

Your satisfaction is important to us, but we cannot take responsibility for matters outside our reasonable control.

Horrendous Business Ethics

So I purchased, in good faith a solid Oak Acandinavian bedframe and beautiful mattress for my new bedroom which was currently being built. I was sooo excited to get the bed and have my room finished so that I could put my new bedroom which was my childhood dream. Unfortunately, due to sickness with one of the builders the room was a little delayed and it meant I could not try out my new headboard straight away. However, when we did position it in the newly built room, we quickly realised the bedframe was too high. I was devastated!!!
I got in touch with Bedstar customer services straight away and apologised firvmy delay but explained that I had been delayed gaining access to my newly built room. It happens. That's life. What I did not expect was the outright unhelpfulness of the customer service team and regional sales manager!!!!! Even though I could not find anywhere that you only have 14 days to review your order, I'm used to 30 days as normal standard, however I asked the company if they would make an exception in this case as it was out of my control. The bedframe was still wrapped up in it's original packaging, untouched and could be resold. Furthermore, I wasn't asking for a refund but to order a replacement which I had found on their site which would have fitted and I was going to order another mattress meaning I would be giving them more business equals more money!!!! Who turns that down in this day and age but an inexperienced sales manager with a complete lack of customer service. I was amazed!!! Indeed customer services for Bedstar replied back to me saying they were sorry but I'd gone over their 14 days policy. Again I asked for some compassion and that I'd actually only gone over by 8 days and I was not asking for a refund but a collection of the existing bedframe when they dropped my replacement bedframe and additional mattress!! Bedstar were not interested in helping out one bit. Total lack of customer service or empathy! Who wants to be stuck with a £600 bedframe that is no longer any use and shattered my childhood dream of my dream bedroom!!!!
Bedstar....that's who!!!! Do not touch this company is my recommendation. Not only do they shatter people's dreams but the lack of compassion and empathy would have me never ever shop with them again. In a competitive world where every penny counts more than ever I want to protect other shoppers from this horrendous experience. It's a good as theft!!! I would never buy from them again!!! You have been warned!!

Your right to cancel an order starts the moment you place it and ends 14 days after your goods are delivered to you (unless goods are faulty.) This is not a company policy we have invented; it is the statutory right afforded to consumers, and we communicated this clearly in our terms and conditions, which you agreed to at the point of purchase.

In your case, you contacted us after this 14-day cancellation period had expired. While you mentioned that delays in your building work prevented you from inspecting the bedframe sooner, we must apply our policies consistently and fairly to all customers. Making exceptions on a case-by-case basis, regardless of the reason provided, would be arbitrary and would ultimately be unfair to those who adhere to the agreed terms.

You noted that the bedframe remained in its original packaging and that you were seeking an exchange rather than a refund. However, once the cancellation period has passed, our obligation to accept returns—whether for refund or exchange—ends, especially when the product itself was not faulty and was delivered as described.

Regarding your comment that you were prepared to place a further order for a replacement and an additional mattress, we appreciate the sentiment. However, the commercial decision to accept a return outside of the cancellation period cannot be contingent on the promise of future business, as this would place us in an inconsistent and unsustainable position.

We also wish to address the suggestion that our delivery service or policies were unclear. As with the cancellation rights, our delivery terms are clearly outlined, and any queries regarding fit, sizing, or compatibility are matters we encourage customers to raise prior to purchase or within the cancellation window. Product measurements are on our website and can be checked prior to placing an order with us.

We are disappointed that you feel your experience was disappointing particularly as we responded to your communications in a timely and professional manner. We take customer service seriously, but we must also operate within the legal and operational frameworks that apply to all of our customers equally.
We wish you well in finding a bedframe that suits your new room and regret that we were unable to accommodate an exchange outside of the terms you agreed to at the time of purchase online.
