£10 per litre for weak and weird beer !.

£10 per litre for weak beer !.
My story is similar to many here, thought I had just bought a single trial case of beer. Then, a month later I find that £27 has been taken from my Pay Pal. Called to say that I did not wish to subscribe but told that it was too late and I should have read the small print. My CASE arrived but it contains only 8x330ml cans, several at 3per cent and most at just 4.0. This equates to in excess of a whopping ten pounds per litre! .
Cancelling on line is frustrating and impossible, you go through the entire process, just to be told, at the end, that you need to call them to cancel.
You call and are forced to listen to a very long and monotonous propaganda about the wonderful BEER 52.
Operators are pleasant but obviously used to dealing with "pissed off" customers and have developed very thick skin.
All in all: very expensive, they also appear to be roff loading many weird beers that taste awful and presumably didn't sell elsewhere.
Really disappointing Company.

Subscription trap - AVOID

This company is shocking from start to finish. The wine itself isn’t that good, and when you opt for their so-called “free trial” of 4 wines, it automatically switches your subscription to that package - without making this clear upfront.

When I tried to cancel, the experience was appalling. After pressing “I still want to cancel” I thought I had cancelled and was not given a straightforward option online. Instead, I had to scroll down to discover they require customers to phone them to cancel which led to me after having confirmed intent, not actually as I had thought cancelling!

When I raised this, they hid behind their Terms & Conditions and refused to refund me, under the premise their T&Cs are above the law. But under UK consumer law, this is illegal:
• The Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 both state that cancellation must be as easy as sign-up.
• If you can subscribe online, you must be able to cancel online. Forcing people to phone is an unlawful barrier.

This isn’t just my experience - many other reviews here describe the exact same “subscription trap.” That shows it’s a deliberate, systemic practice.

If this happens to you:
• Report it to Citizens Advice, who pass cases to Trading Standards.
• Submit a complaint to the CMA.
• Ask your bank for a chargeback since the renewal wasn’t obtained fairly.

Avoid this company. Misleading subscription processes, unlawful cancellation barriers, poor wine, and dreadful customer service.

Avoid this company at all costs!

AVOID this company at all costs!!!
.
If this review prevents even one person from dealing with this outfit, it will have been worthwhile.
.
I initially ordered the introductory case, but later missed the chance to postpone the delivery of the next (unwanted) case. When I phoned to arrange a return, I spoke with Mia, who told me the company does not accept returns. This directly conflicts with the legal right to return any online purchase within 14 days for a full refund.
The only solution offered was that she would pass the matter to her manager, Jera, and that I could expect a call back in 3–5 days — apparently because Beer52 managers are always in meetings. I still awaite that call.

I apparently signed up to a subscription!!! No I didn't!!!

Got an offer for a £10 wine deal from my mobile provider, took it up. Wish I'd read the reviews first..... turns out I 'signed up' to a monthly subscription!! First thing I saw was an email from PayPal saying Beer52 had taken £36 from my account!! Then I get automated response from the contact page on their sites with a promise to look into it..... then the next day I get an email from Wine 52 telling me "good news, your wine is on its way" !! No chance of cancelling on line so am preparing to get in a long queue apparently and calling them to chew their ear off and cancel my subscription!!! Grrrrr

I don’t even know how I got signed up…

I don’t even know how I got signed up to the subscription. I do not remember or recall opting myself in. Impose to cancel and only automated responses on emails ans nobody ever answers the phone. I’ve had to contact my bank to block them. HORRIBLE, AWFUL and STRESSFUL

Easy to cancel through fb

Well, I fell for it the same as everyone else. 3 free bottles of wine, just pay £9.95 delivery. I panicked when I looked at trust pilot and saw the difficulties some people had when cancelling.

I have to say mine was a lot different. I popped them a message on facebook and within a few hours they had replied and cancelled my subscription. No drama.

The wine itself arrived very fast! (The next day). Not tried yet but they look really nice and I’m looking forward to tasting them.

I think having the option to cancel online would save them a lot of trouble. But it was very easy going through Facebook messenger.

I unknowingly got signed up for an ongoing delivery, have been charged £36 for wine i don't drink and have had to phone to cancel. Very underhand sales tactics beware.

This company used to be a favorite

This company used to be a favorite. I have built good relationships with their representatives and they have all been amazing.

I am away and they billed me despite emailing them 4 days before my billing date (which I have done multiple times within the past 2 years) and they have suddenly changed their terms and conditions to say that i needed to call instead.

Now i’m out £36 and i won’t be getting wine… i’ve asked to cancel and the man said “i can give you £10” ??? No thanks - keep it

Absolutely Appalling

Absolutely Appalling – Avoid Wine52 & Beer52 at All Costs!

This company operates on pure deception. They lure you in with so-called “free wine” vouchers—often slipped into other products or deliveries—and then hit you with a delivery fee that is nearly the same cost as the wine itself. You think you're getting a deal, but you're actually walking straight into a subscription trap.

Without any clear warning, you're automatically signed up for a monthly subscription. Suddenly, you're being charged £36 each month for 3 bottles of the most unimpressive, low-quality wine I’ve ever had the misfortune to taste. And of course, the charges come straight from the card you used to "pay postage" on the free offer.

When you try to cancel, it becomes a full-blown ordeal. They send a cancellation link by email, but after dragging you through multiple steps, the process ends with a message telling you to call a number to actually cancel.

Once you call, you’re forced to listen to 10 minutes of promotional nonsense before a person finally answers—only to ask a ridiculous number of "verification" questions. Then, after wasting even more of your time, they casually transfer you to the cancellation department, which means starting all over again.

It’s an exhausting, manipulative, and frankly disgraceful system that feels deliberately designed to make cancelling so painful that people give up.

This is not a wine club – it's a scam disguised as a subscription service. Avoid at all costs, and warn your friends and family. Don’t be fooled by the “free wine” bait – it's daylight robbery.

Wines alright / annoying subscription

The wines were good, not sure if nice enough that I'd pay the full price, but can't complain with introductory offer.
But now caught in a subscription that I can only cancel by phone from 9-5 and not online... Very annoying trying to catch you keep paying.

Traumatic experiences…

I gave a phone call to customer service team regarding my cancellation.
The person I spoke with asked me about how was my experience with my last parcel. I told the person it was a year ago. He started laughing. I told him that I don’t drink really and I kept pausing my accounts but as I take antidepressants, I cannot drink alcohol. He was laughing again. I said that I emailed about my cancellation and I mentioned this and my circumstances too.
Afterwards, he stared making me offers to not cancel my membership.he kept offering and telling me to keep my account. He didn’t stop. I told him in a desperate way that he could offer me anything but as I am taking antidepressants I am unable to take / use alcohol. Asked him ‘Do you understand?’. He said he didn’t know that. I said as they are actually like drugs so the combination with alcohol can cause dangerous effects. He said that he understood and he didn’t know that. I told him that I said 3 times I take these medications so it was a bit frustrating to offering me more things just to keep my account. He said the line was bad - it wasn’t.
After this he started doing my cancellation of my accounts, then I heard in the background a person was whispering and who I spoke with stated making a joke of me ‘Do you understand? I am taking antidepressants’.
I asked him what was that. Was silence then he said that he sits in an office so I can hear that people around him talking. I said no. Someone just made a joke of me.
He definitely started to ‘get rid of me as quickly as possible’ as I asked him what was that. Also, I asked him how long the cancellation takes and if I get a confirmation email. Because I kept asking what was that and someone just made a joke of me, he said that ‘your accounts cancelled, have a good day’ and he put the phone down on me.

I would like to share this experience. It was shocking especially from a customer service member. Showing disrespect. Was extremely unprofessional. Anyone can have any medical condition or other matters why they do not want to buying alcohol.

I only found out about it once they charged me. You can’t cancel the subscription online. Not easy to cancel

Despite the fact they claim in their advertising that you can manage your subscription online, this is in fact a lie as you have to call them to cancel.

Average wine. Total rip off.

Average wine. Over priced.

Like many others, I signed up for a good offer. Little did I know I’d signed up for a subscription service. I found out after £36 had been taken out of my account. £36 for 3 very distinctly average bottles of wine. Be careful with their initial offer. The customer service was passive aggressive. You’re better off buying average supermarket wine for half the price as it’s more or less the same thing.
