Berlin Brandenburg airport breaks passengers’ laws!!
The airport's attitude toward passengers is inhumane! Yesterday, I was waiting at the airport from 4 a.m. for a flight scheduled for 6 a.m. to Catania. We spent two hours on the plane, then were told to leave and wait another two hours for further information. Our flight kept being postponed, and there were no voice announcements about Catania. At 1 p.m., we unofficially learned that boarding would begin soon, but due to a lack of information, one passenger didn't make it, and from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., while we were already on the plane, they searched for his suitcase. At 2:30 p.m., we were told to wait another two hours for de-icing. In the meantime, we were promised that we would definitely fly out that day. At 4:30 PM, we learned that the pilot's shift had been overscheduled and that another plane was arriving to take us. I checked Flightradar and it was going the opposite direction! The pilot made the announcement after the passengers were the first to learn where the promised plane was going, saying that the airport had suddenly closed again and that we had to wait to be let off the plane. We waited two hours for the stairs to be provided, and in the meantime, the police arrived and escorted us as we disembarked. We were locked inside the plane – children and the elderly included – for over five hours, with no way out, no water, or food (which could be purchased for 5 euros!).Łamanie praw pasażerów, okłamywanie ludzi, spowodowanie że ludzie czekali 12 godizn na lotnisku w tym 5 godizn w zamknięciu w samolocie nie może przejść przejść bez konsekwencji dla Ryanaira i lotniska!
The Ryanair crew and the airport lied to us from 6 a.m. onward. We were left stranded – we couldn't get any information about a flight reschedule or transportation or overnight stays at the hotel, which was our right. We wanted to collect our luggage and were informed after an hour's wait that our bags would be available at 5 a.m. the following day and that we had to sleep at the airport. The police present were indifferent to the fact that the children would be forced to sleep on a cold floor. No one from the staff was willing to provide any practical information. We were locked in the baggage claim area, unable to get food or go to the customer service desk to file a complaint and demand that our rights be respected. Only under pressure from desperate passengers did the airport allow us to leave the baggage claim area and go to buy food. We finally picked up our bags at 9 p.m., which proves that we were lied to the whole time. Passenger rights were violated, such as the right to receive information, the right to care (refreshments, meals, accommodation as appropriate) and the right to chose between reimbursement of fares or be re-routed to final destination. You broke our rights as passengers, you lied to us - we will fight for compensation, because spending 14 hours at the airport and 5 hours locked in a plane cannot pass without any consequences for both the airport and Ryanair!!
The worst airport in the world.

Esperienza pessima e aeroporto totalmente disorganizzato.
C’erano circa 40 persone in fila e solo 2 tornelli aperti: risultato?
⭐ 1 star only because I can’t give 0.
Absolutely terrible experience. Berlin airport is a complete mess: extremely disorganized, confusing, and with almost no useful signs or directions — not even for something essential like finding the train platforms to reach the city.
From the moment you land, it takes almost an hour just to get out because of the chaotic and poorly managed system.
The return trip was even worse. Security and check-in controls were unbelievably slow. There were plenty of staff around, but nobody seemed to be doing anything useful. The inefficiency is shocking and it seriously puts you at risk of missing your flight.
Around 40 people in line and only 2 security gates open — it took us 40 minutes just to get through. Completely unacceptable.
This airport is a disgrace: rude, unhelpful staff and overall incompetence everywhere. One of the worst airports I have ever been to. Berlin deserves much better.
Lipstick on a pig.
Flew out on Dublin flight on Sunday February 1st 2026 from Terminal 2.
Arrived 2 hrs before flight. Security times said 4-9 minutes. I think it meant 49 minutes as we were 40minutes getting through. 3 or the 4 of us travelling were patted down. One was told leave on the belt and then was patted down for it.
Got to dury free. Over priced.
Gate was a 10 minute walk. When we arrived at the passport control it was bedlam. People pushing past trying to get to the front as they were late for their flights.
The immigration police seemed understaffed. Only 2 were on duty whith no automatic passport checking machine for leaving the country.
We were nearly an hour in this queue as well. There was no sense of urgency as people were getting more and more restless as it went on.
We only heard the announcement saying the gate was closing and to hurry up after we were on the otherside of the checkpoint. None of the precious announcements could be heard. We ran and just made it. Some people were not so lucky.
I've been travelling to Germany for over 25 years. Worst experience yet. If DB has been getting progressively worse over the years I'd stick with flying into AMS and getting the trains.
Advice to anyone flying from the airport, get their about 5hrs beforehand. Anything you want to bring back, go to the supermarket in the city instead. Check in a bag and go through security in as little cloths as you can. Please note they don't seem to have airbridges so you will be standing outside on the steps.
I'd flown into T2 when it was Schönefeld. While it looked like it was built from portacabins it was what you paid for. Now they've spent billions polishing a turd and created problems that didn't exist.
Germany I love you but you let yourselves down here.
Dehumanised at the security check
I had a dehumanising experience at the security check. An old, disgusting creep started touching me saying “only fan” (like only fans)… I know everyone saw, but no one did anything. I was too shocked to make a scene, so I just looked at him like I was disgusted and said “please don’t touch me.”
Shaken up, it was my turn to go into the security scanner. I miss the yellow footprint by an inch - so the security guard looks at me like I’m dumb and makes a big meal of saying “ma’am, do you see the yellow footprint?!”
Then, a woman searched my trouser leg, barking orders at me like I’m a dog. It was disgusting. Basic human decency isn’t lost in translation.
International Capital City Airport? A joke…
While I understand that a delayed flight operated by British Airways is not directly your responsibility, the lack of effective airline support personnel at BER is a serious issue that significantly impacted my travel.
My flight was delayed by over three hours, causing me to miss my connecting flight from London to Dallas. At the gate, I approached two WISAG employees for assistance. The first was dismissive, essentially laughing and telling me that no one at BER could help with rebooking and that I would need to contact British Airways by phone. Due to severe connectivity issues at BER, I attempted to reach British Airways three times, all of which were disconnected.
I then spoke with another WISAG employee, who assured me—very clearly—that I would be rebooked automatically onto another Dallas-bound flight upon arrival in London and that several options were available the same day. I specifically asked him to confirm this, as I would have preferred to remain in Berlin and return to family for the night rather than continue to London. He stated “yes, absolutely,” and reiterated that I would be placed on another flight to Dallas that same day.
This assurance turned out to be incorrect. Upon arrival in London, no rebooking had occurred. As a result, I was forced to spend the night there in substandard accommodations and will not be able to return to the United States until the following day.
Beyond this incident, I would also like to address ongoing issues at BER. I have flown into Berlin from London approximately six to seven times over the past two years, and on every occasion, passport control has been severely understaffed. Typically, only two booths are open out of the seven to nine available, resulting in wait times of up to two hours. For the capital city of Germany, this level of staffing and efficiency is unacceptable.
BER operates at the level of a small regional airport, not an international hub—and certainly not one befitting a national capital.
I strongly urge you to address these issues, as they reflect poorly on the airport and create unnecessary stress and disruption for passengers.

I was travelling with my husband who’s metal health is poor our flight was delayed we approached a duty manger who was wearing an easy jet jacket asked her to help us as we had no clue where we were supposed to be she screamed at us telling us to move on she told us I dont know go ! when we asked another lady who was polite the duty manger screamed saying why are you asking the same thing again get lost, I stood my ground told her firmly not to treat us like we are street rats it’s her duty to help customers she and another male staff got aggressive they stopped us from boarding the flight not at any point we were aggressive, they laughed everytime I told them you have triggered my husbands mental health. It’s shocking this is a European country they have people of that calibre working at the airport treating people like they are the scum of the society
Rich shopping mall, poor airport.
Very long waiting times, especially for passport control, bur sometimes also the luggage. I travel to and from this airport reguralily and it usually takes about 2h to get out. No priority lanes for children makes it really hard for families.
Very limited sitting caused by, I assume, attempts to maximise retail space. So basically it feels that focus was to get people buy stuff rather than to travel comfortably. Very disappointing.
Waited three hours for our luggage from…
Waited three hours for our luggage from 22:30 to 1:30am just to be told that we had to go to baggage claims. There was no one to take our requests, just a qr code.
I do not have my luggage and no one is answering. Such a disappointing and frustrating experience.
Worse airport
Worse airport, we waited 2 hours for our bags almost the time of the flight. It’s not the first time, it happened many times before, arriving home almost 2am instead of 23pm its really frustrating, it’s shameful such big city lacking of a functional airport.
The worst airport I have ever been to
The worst airport I have ever been to. Security works extremely slowly, their operations constantly get stuck, and you have to wait in line for about an hour. One of the security officers started yelling at my sister-in-law, who was pregnant. Our whole family was appalled by the way the airport staff handled things and gives it 0 out of 5.
This is by far the worst airport in EU
This is by far the worst airport in EU. So much for German efficiency. Waiting time to get your luggage is usually 70-90 minutes. No staff around to even inform anyone and the ones you manage to ask are extremely rude like they’re doing us a favor for being at their work. Even the “modern” design won’t be that modern soon as the whole airport feels outdated.
Airport is a joke
Sitting in the flight now and they just announced approximately one hour delay because of limited deicing capabilities. This airport is a joke…How can an airport that is hit by snow every year not be prepared for snow??!!’
An Absolute disappointment
An Absolute disappointment, understaffed, rude staff, everything takes a very long time. Our flight was severely delayed due to very few ice tracks active in the airport
Not enough staff to manage the passport…
Not enough staff to manage the passport controls means a 2 hour wait to get through.
So much for German efficiency- very poor performance.
Travelling with disabilities …
A 3 hour wait go get through passport control
I was travelling with 2 neurodivergent children and no support whatsoever, sunflower lanyards were of no use here.
I also suffer with crohns disease and the anxiety caused by being in a queue that I could not leave to use toilet facilities without losing my space was horrible.
EXREMELY RUDE STAFF IN GATE B42
The airport per se is ok. Efficient, I would say. The problem is some of the stuff. I flew from Berlin to Edinburgh on the 28th Dec 2025. Gate B42. There is a small bar/shop close to that gate. The waitress was in the middle of her break (which was totally fine). All of a sudden, she was extremely rude. She said to me and I quote: "I don't want to see you while I am eating". I was not even looking at her at all. I did not let that happen and confronted her, telling her how rude she was. There were 3 people witnessing everything.
Airport staff NEED a proper customer service training. It was disgusting.
Hopeless passport control
Hopeless passport control. Been waiting an hour and still nowhere near being processed. Useless German efficiency..
Last time I visit Germany. Keeping people in their 70s and 80s. This queue is longer than the flight.
One passport control booth open (as…
One passport control booth open (as others have said) and then he left leaving around 100 passengers stranded. If there is only one passport booth open the queue will probably be around 2-3 hours. Please, go to the next passport hall (about 5 minutes along the corridor) and find a passport hall with 3-4 booths open and your queue should be around 30 minutes instead. Don't be British and stay in a queue that doesn't move!
This is the worst airport ever
This is the worst airport ever. Passport control takes 1.5 to 2 hours with one person responsible for non-EU travellers. The staff are extremely rude, and really don’t care. Whatever you do, do not travel through this airport. You’d get to Berlin quicker flying through another German airport and driving into Berlin. The staff just walk away, have no empathy, and basically say that they know there is a problem but say nothing. This is the worst border control ever and frankly are an embarrassment to the country.
