If you’re heading to Lisbon and looking for an unforgettable adventure, look no further. From the moment we met João, his energy was absolutely contagious. He led us through an epic day of kayaking, cliff diving, and exploring hidden caves, all set against the stunning backdrop of Arrábida Natural Park.

João’s passion for his hometown shines through in every hilarious story and perfectly timed (and delightfully corny) joke. After working up an appetite, we enjoyed a delicious lunch right on the beach—a moment of pure magic.

Back at “home base,” João welcomed us like family, even sharing his family’s homemade port wine for a heartfelt toast to the day’s adventures.

Whether you’re an adrenaline junkie or just looking to push your comfort zone in the most fun and safe way possible, João’s your guy. Just look for the cowboy hat flying through the air—you’re in for one wild and wonderful ride!

Joao was an amazing tour guide and the scenery along the coastline is spectacular.

It was incredible, just as the guide described it, it was like being in a dream, we did a long but fun tour, no worries, with a group of only 5 people, we could enjoy spectacular views, jumping off cliffs, passing through caves and very enjoyable with the accompaniment of a very funny guide who gives everything to provide the best experience. It even includes photos and videos to remember. 100% recommended.

Climbing with Beyondadventures was the best choice I could've made! I had never done this before, but João was incredibly patient and supportive the entire time, and everything went great. We also explored the beautiful trails of Arrábida and ended the day with a fantastic beach picnic that João prepared, offering plenty of options—even for those with more restrictive diets like mine. I booked this experience as a birthday gift for my boyfriend, and he said it was the best gift he’s ever received! I couldn’t recommend it more!

João's energy, care and positivity made the tour a total delight. He went out of his way to make everyone feel welcome and enthusiastic about the kayak tour. The lunch and wine he brought were fantastic. The experience felt like all the good memories of visiting extended family overseas! Thank you Joao for the wonderful memories created in one day! I would recommend this tour to anyone. With any luck, I will return and do this tour again with my kids, who did not get a chance to join me on this trip.

This tour was absolutely thrilling from start to finish! João was an incredible guide—full of energy, super knowledgeable, and just a great person to spend the day with. I ended up being the only one on the tour, and he completely tailored the experience to my interests, which made it feel like a private adventure.

We climbed along the coast, kayaked through crystal-clear waters, snorkeled, and even did some cliff jumping (from modest heights, perfect for a bit of a thrill without going overboard!). João kept the vibe fun and relaxed the entire time, and his passion for the area really came through.

One of the highlights was the lunch he provided—delicious local food that gave me a real taste of Portuguese cuisine. It was such a thoughtful and tasty touch.

From the moment we set out, I knew this experience was something extraordinary. Kayaking through crystal waters, feeling the adrenaline rush of cliff jumping, snorkeling among marine life, and venturing into hidden caves and seeing fossiles, every single moment was pure magic. But what truly made this day unforgettable was Joan. His passion for this place and his craft was palpable—it radiated through his stories, his laughter, and the thoughtful way he orchestrated every detail. He wasn’t just leading a tour; he was sharing a piece of his world with us, weaving in rich tidbits about Portuguese culture and history that made the landscape come alive. His energy was infectious, his kindness unwavering. Whether it was ensuring everyone felt safe during cliff jumps or cracking a joke to ease nervous people, he went above and beyond to make sure each of us felt seen, cared for, and utterly exhilarated. My husband and I took this tour during our honeymoon. He speaks for both of us in his glowing 5 star review (which I’ve pasted below).

My only add would be that we also received tons of pics and videos of us cliff jumping, a playlist of music from the day, and let’s talk about the gear!!! Looking around at other tour groups, we were by far the most prepared and that’s all thanks to Joao, who supplied us with literally everything we could need including gloves and face covering snorkels (which the other groups didn’t have). He also was dropping knowledge on us everywhere we went. We learned so much and had SO much fun.

This trip feels like a kayak trip planned with your best friends—which it is because by the end of this you will want Jao to be your best friend. I want to take half of his energy, excitement, and love for his country and his tours home with me. From the beautiful compound as we gear up and feel our own responsibility for our gear, to the shower at the end with real shampoo that brings you back to life.

The ocean kayaking is difficult, but so worth it! Beautiful caves and coves and an ever-changing tour with cliff jumping, kayaking, snorkeling (with top tier equipment), and rock climbing, this tour I will be talking about for years. Even in the rain it was a great experience, hey we were going to get wet one way or another and the wetsuits kept us warm. We had kayaked before, but it was great to try something new and climbing rocks entering caves and cliff jumping were so much fun, despite being 62 and 67 years old. Plenty of food, wine, music and 'Dad jokes' We would highly recommend this tour for anyone who wants a bit of adventure.

The coasteering was well planned and very fun. João had loads of knowledge of the area and was very generous with food!

The climbing adventure was definitely the most amazing and exciting trip that I have ever taken. The views were amazing and I also learned quite a bit about the region and vegetation. The Tour Guide (Joao) was also incredibly kind and funny and helped everyone overcome their vertigo. The attention and effort he put into every part of the tour is absolutely amazing and I will definitely take another tour.

João is a great guide full of knowledge and provides an incredible action filled day with phenomenal scenery. I’ve done the tour twice now and is different each time, he makes sure you are safe and feel supported in everything you do. The day itself is well planned and thought out, with great equipment, food and drink all provided. The headquarters is also fantastic, with super clean and new facilities, the hot shower at the end of the day is a lovely touch! An incredible experience and one you’ll never forget, thanks again!!

Absolutely brilliant. Exceeded expectations. Loads of great food, wine and plenty of swimming, snorkelling and jumping off cliff. As well as kayaking of course.
