Big Cat Travel Insurance Reviews 

Just taken out 6 months travel insurance for my son, had a few questions and spoke with Theo on the phone - he had an excellent telephone manner, answered all my questions and provided extra details I'd not thought of. Because of him I chose Big Cat over a competitor. Now just hoping I wont need to make a claim but if I do feel I've picked a good company to deal with.

Fantastic experience, the guy on the call (apologies mislaid his name) was excellent, most other commpanies I contacted were not good, would 100% recommend and use again.

I've read good things about this company.
They were the only company I found that will cover me while riding a motorcycle over 125cc on a long holiday.
As with any insurance company you never know if you spent wisely until you need them.
Hopefully I'll never know.

Taking out insurance for my son’s gap year travels with Big Cat was simple, hence 2 stars. Making a claim, after he was mugged in Columbia, which is handled by their parent company, has been a ridiculously drawn out process, so far taking almost 9 months. They don’t respond, they don’t answer the phone when my son calls to chase them, they have asked more than once for the same proof of purchase of the items that were stolen (and for the police report and now they even want his plane ticket). You upload messages and supporting documents onto the website/portal and then can’t see what you’ve sent them, it seems to disappear into the ether, so no obvious proof that you have sent them any documents unless you did it via email. Tried phoning Big Cat to enlist their support to get this resolved and all they said was that the claims handling company is their parent company and nothing they can do. Would suggest looking elsewhere for a company that has a better record of paying out after claims.

Provided me with the travel insurance I needed covering my specific needs at a competitive price.

Really straightforward to set up the policy and they were quick to answer the phone !

We contacted big cat before taking the insurance to check they covered our activities while away. Their communication was quick and accurate and the policy covered us.
The website was clear and quick to use too.
And they were the best price for us by a big margin.

This is my third year using the company as a long term traveller and I use the Big Cat single trip policy. When my first yrs policy was expiring, I used the extension option to 2yrs which also (very happily) reduced the premium for yr 2.
I do like the websites fast, easy, clear setup to tailor packages, amend and purchase the policy. I have also used ‘compare’ web sites to verify competitive prices, and I think BC provides good value money.
I made a tiny grammar mistake this year, so sent them a message through the system, reply came within 30mins and the policy updated and resent to my email.
Fortunately, I have not had cause to make a claim with the company, but if I should need to, and this is a bench mark for their customer service experience, then I feel somewhat confident all may go smoothly should the need arise.
