Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 145 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers are dissatisfied with the customer service, describing it as the worst they have encountered across various industries, with issues like unhelpful chat functions and powerless agents. People frequently report problems with payment processing, including double deductions, missing payments, and difficulties setting up or re-entering banking information, often leading to late fees and financial inconvenience. The user experience is often described as frustrating and inconvenient, particularly due to changes in payment methods that no longer allow the use of credit lines for rent, forcing direct debits from checking accounts. Reviewers also highlight extremely long wait times for customer support, with some waiting hours on hold or experiencing unresponsive chat functions, making it nearly impossible to resolve issues. The transition to new systems is widely criticized for poor communication, lack of clarity, and unexpected changes that negatively impact users, leading to a significant decline in overall client experience.

Non existent customer service

Non existent customer service. Bots do not count and when I get transferred to a “live agent” it gets immediately turned into an email which does not get responded to. I have never had such bad service from a credit card issuer and will probably close my account as soon as I spend my points.

Absolute disaster of a credit provider

The company debited my checking account for my rent and never paid it to the landlord, and then reversed my previous month’s rent payment so the landlord charged me both a late fee and a $300 reversal fee (had more than enough in my account, their processing is just a mess). No customer service to speak of, issues have to be sent via text or email, and their AI bot is no help. Had to initiate a dispute directly with my bank to recover the missing rent payment. Email responses from BILT don’t address the issue. Account closed and never using BILT again.

I am extremely frustrated with Bilt’s…

I am extremely frustrated with Bilt’s customer service. I attempted to book a hotel stay, but I was unable to complete the reservation because the email address on my account was incorrect. The system keeps trying to send a verification code to an email address that is NOT mine.

The email listed on my account is incorrect

I have been trying to get this corrected for over 72 hours through chat and email, despite being told customer service is available 24/7. I have spent an unreasonable amount of time waiting for assistance with no resolution.

This issue has prevented me from accessing my account and booking travel, which is unacceptable. A simple correction should not take days to resolve.

I am requesting that Bilt immediately update my account with the correct email address and improve response times so other customers do not experience this level of inconvenience.

Very disappointed with the lack of timely support.

The points program SUCKS now

The points program SUCKS now. They totally ruined a good system they had before they upgraded to the new rules for how you earn points. I plan to CANCEL my card.

Everything that could possibly go wrong…

Everything that could possibly go wrong did. Even down to canceling the card. Nothing was easy. I took this credit card to get points for paying a mortgage but couldn't get that to work either.
Don't even start with them because you will go down a rabbit hole of endless frustration if you do. Beware!
Now you can't say you weren't warned.

Bilt - lost its value proposition.

I have been with Bill since October 24 when there where aligned with Wells-Fargo. Now that they have changed, I don't see a point in it anymore - its lost its value preposition since it took away the rent-float - I know that's only about 20 days or so of a float but it was worth it along with the other rewards - now with the new higher fees and no float - don't see a point.

Operational Failure & Deceptive Marketing

Bilt Rewards' 2.0 card transition is a masterclass in operational failure. As a certified project management professional (PMP), I have rarely seen a financial product so recklessly managed.

Executive Negligence & Financial Liabilities
During the Wells Fargo transition, a $500 ledger discrepancy occurred. Bilt VP Thatcher Foster explicitly instructed me in writing to throw away a physical $500 bank issued refund check. I refused to destroy a legal bank document and proposed a transparent accounting fix. Following my proposal, VP Foster completely ghosted me, ignoring weeks of follow ups and leaving me exposed to clawbacks.

Deceptive "Bait and Switch" Rewards
Bilt's "Close Friends" tier actively fails to deliver. Three times, Bilt deposited high value rewards (including an ASAP Rocky vinyl and MrBeast package) as "collection credits" with zero clickable interface, expiring worthless. Furthermore, Bilt claimed the vinyl was "sold out" to justify non-fulfillment, only to push a restock notification for that exact item days later.

Hostile Promotional Fulfillment
After perfectly executing a 10,000 point social media promo, Bilt credited the points but sent a hostile email falsely claiming I violated terms. When challenged, support refused to provide evidence.

A Designed Support "Black Hole"
Bilt's infrastructure actively blocks help through distinct system failures:

The "Black Hole": Submitted tickets simply vanish. I submitted tickets regarding missing rewards that received zero response or acknowledgement, ever.

False Abandonment: The system ignores customer replies entirely. I received multiple automated "we haven't heard from you" warnings threatening to close my active ticket, which it eventually did, despite me repeatedly sending the requested proof.

Dead Ends & Obfuscation: The app bot directs customers to disconnected phone numbers, while agents conflate separate ledger errors to avoid clean audit trails.

Do not trust this company. The marketing is flashy, but the leadership and technology are fundamentally broken.

Point Program That Feels Unnecessarily Complex

The idea of earning points for paying rent sounded promising at first. The experience quickly became aggravating once the platform was used. Information about points, benefits, and program rules was often unclear and overly complicated. Instead of a simple rewards system, navigating the details required constant digging through explanations and repeated clarification. Responses to questions were frequently unhelpful or delayed. Over time, the program became unnecessarily difficult to manage for something advertised as simple and convenient. A rewards platform should focus on transparency and ease of use, yet that clarity was almost always missing.

Trash

Trash, don't waste your time. Can't use your credit line for rent. Rewarded bilt cash, unable to use in my area. Everything is locked in their system. Also the concierge is trash in the app. No customer support as well.

Confusing interface and no help from support

I booked a hotel through Bilt Travel because I thought I was paying with points. The interface is very confusing, and I didn’t realize it was charging my card instead. If I had known that, I would never have made this booking.

I contacted support within seconds of confirming (before the payment even processed) asking to cancel or switch the payment to points. They refused, saying the booking was non-refundable and couldn’t be changed.

I also contacted regular Bilt support, which appears to be separate from Bilt Travel, and only got an AI chatbot that couldn’t help and instead sent me a feedback form.

Very frustrating experience. Double-check how you’re paying before booking.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Forced to move to BILT by UWM mortgage because UWM made a $100M investment into BILT. BILT is not an honest company, they claim rewards but it is all FAKE!!! Read the fine print - you don't get rewards unless you spend on things outside of rent/mortgage. Don't be fooled.

Also trying to contact BILT? Good luck - no phone number listed anywhere, useless automated messages that don't help, and no way to get where you need.

RUN AS FAR AND FAST FROM THIS COMPANY AS YOU CAN!!!

Once this used to be a great card…

Once this used to be a great card earning you points on rent spend.

With Bilt 2.0 you now have to put spend on the card to unlock the points. Theu now are partnered with Cardless, and this small institution can not handle the support, leaving you SupportLess, SecureLess and eventually wishing you really were CardLess!

Worst customer service

Worst customer service, finally got through to someone via Wells Fargo as they are charging us 1.5 with the transfer of the new CC they forced us to get and I didn't get a reply via email as promised or call back. What should I do next?

There is absolutely no customer support…

There is absolutely no customer support whatsoever when you have issues with the card and app. The rewards program is overly complicated and ruined in my opinion. If this company doesn’t make changes soon I don’t see this once great card lasting long.

This is totally senseless company now.

This is totally senseless company now.
They gave 15000 credit limit and said pay your mortgage using given account no and routing number. I used them and my payment got rejected and I had to bear penalty.
This bull**it people mailed after 10 days saying since your bank account was not found in our system; we rejected your payment.

MY CLEAR RECOMMEDATION - NOW NO SENSE OF USING BILT 2.0

I was told by apartment management that…

I was told by apartment management that i HAD to use BILT to pay my rent. This wasn't true. After struggling with establishing my BILT account, THEY DIDN'T EVEN FREAKING PAY THE RENT! THIS WAS THE ONLY REASON I CREATED THE STUPID ACCOUNT WITH THEM! I just got done spending 90 minutes closing my account with Bilt using their WONDERFUL AI CHAT BOT to answer my questions (which it didn't). I did request the chatbot to release a 50 gallon barrel of rotted chum into the lobby of BILT CO which is didn't want to do. I think you can tell how much I've appreciated alll of the "benefits" of dealing with a zombie entity of Wells Fargo such as BILT. Do NOT deal with them. It will suck for 90% of you, the ones who have some self-respect.

Downhill in 2026

The company ended their relationship with Wella Fargo and so all card holders had to transition elsewhere. They canceled my automatic rent payment and I was subsequently charged a late fee. I asked them to send my new card to a temporary address (the one I pay rent on through them) and it took 3 total phone calls and interactions for them to send it to the right address. They want a selfie of you holding the state id and a photo of the id eben after I specifically updated the shipping address in the app. You also wait on hold for forever before speaking to someone. The app is always glitching and taked forever to load. Only advantage is getting points on rent which no one else offers. But you can no longer use a line of credit for rent. Definitely gone downhill since I became a member a few years ago.

I’d give them 0 stars if I could

I’d give them 0 stars if I could. Typical Wells Fargo bs: we offer something nice then flip the switch once you’ve become a reliable customer. Forget about getting in touch with a live agent. This is probably what the fyre fest people felt like. Bilt was a great concept but turned into a scam.

The worst customer service I have ever seen

The worst customer service I have ever experienced. My application was "under review" for over a month and every time I called or emailed they were unhelpful but said they would "escalate" it and, of course, nothing came of it. Eventually they just cancelled my application and told me to reapply for a THIRD time. I have great credit and was a Bilt 1.0 holder and fan. Never engaging with this again - literally wasted hours of my life
