Disappointed by Fare Manipulation – Not a Safe Option

I used BiTaksi in Istanbul expecting a secure and transparent taxi booking experience. Unfortunately, it turned out to be quite the opposite.

The app quoted a fare of 1,200₺, but the driver charged me 2,300₺. He claimed that 1,000₺ was a refundable deposit, which I would receive within 24 hours. That refund never came. This happened at 1:30 AM, and I regret trusting the explanation in that moment.

What’s most troubling is that drivers seem able to override the fare quoted in the app. This defeats the purpose of using a platform that’s supposed to protect passengers from price manipulation.

If a driver ever asks for a deposit outside the app’s payment system, consider it a serious red flag.

I won’t be using BiTaksi again. I’d rather deal with the inconvenience of other transport options than risk being overcharged or misled.

Avoid Bitaksi app

BiTaksi app quoted range of 1600-2000 Turkish Lira from Istanbul Airport to Kadikoy.
Pick up was chaotic - drivers aren’t permitted to pick up passengers (?!) so our driver kept directing us to different spots at departures to avoid police. On getting into car, there was someone already in it - driver explained via translation app his friend had to masquerade as a drop off passenger in order for him to pick us up!
Journey was horrendous - driver operated 3 phones, weaved in & out of lanes. On arrival to hotel, fare had increased to 3800 Turkish which we explained we weren’t prepared to pay given the fact the price had doubled.
The driver entered into lengthy, emotional dispute with BiTaksi customer service (involving various bystanders!) The whole sorry saga culminated in a 2.5 hour standoff, with the driver eventually calling the police - we couldn’t believe they showed up!
In fairness, the drivers’ beef wasn’t with us, but the BiTaksi app. The hotel receptionist said this was very common. In the end, we ended up paying - our alternative was to go to the police station!
Not a great start to a 3-day mini break. Avoid BiTaksi at all costs.

One of the worst experiences with Bitaksi

A driver scammed me for 1300 TL (~£25) by deliberately entering incorrect details into the taximeter. I reported the issue, but Bitaksi did absolutely nothing — no refund, no penalty for the driver, no follow-up at all. If this had happened on Uber, they would’ve refunded the money and fined the driver. Bitaksi’s lack of action is disgraceful. Sadly, this reflects the broader issue with Turkish taxi services — unreliable and untrustworthy. I will never use this app again.

No customer support whatsoever

I have been a happy Bitski user for years. That was until I recently ran into a technical issue with their wallet.

For over a month I have been trying to get in contact with Bitski. I have a lot of money stuck because of their wallet. Absolutely no one at the company replies to any of my communication attempts.

This is a horrible experience. There is no help available on their email (tried all employees email addresses), nor any response on ANY of their social media channels.

So if you want to use Bitski, please be warned that if you run into a technical issue, you may lose all your money - because no one at this company will try to help you.
