Make sure you get a guide, at least.

This is a difficult review too write. It is 1* for the tour and 5***** for the hospitality of Mokhtar's family. We had a marvellous marvellous time at the camp, but we did not have a tour - it was more of a taxi service to the camp and back.
- there was no guide or anyone else who spoke English. The driver spoke limited French (as did we).
- the car was unbearably hot. I overheated and I was very ill. We did not think we were going to make to the camp. If you travel in February, the temperature in the car may not be an issue.
- We did not visit any nomad tents or villages and we had no tea with nomads, as promised. Maybe because we left an hour late.
- since we had no guide, we did not know what places we passed. We had no idea we had crossed the lake Iriki on the way there!
- There was no fire or music in the evening, as promised. Still, we had a superb superb meal.
- The camp was different from the photos, yet it did not really matter because Mokhtar's family where so attentive and kind.
- We did have a fabulous time on the camp. We climbed the dunes, watched the dawn which was incredible.
- The family had very kindly made last minute arrangements for us to sleep outside, rather than in the tents. And that was the real highlight. I cannot thank them enough for that! Sleeping under the stars was unforgettable.
- On the way back, we visited no oasis, no village, no ksar of zawiat. We simply drove back.
While hospitality of the family and sleeping under the stars was memorable, the rest of the trip was mismanaged: no guide, means no information, no communication.
If you choose to use them, please, make sure that at least you have a guide.

If you want to experience an unique adventure supported by a highly skilled, polite, funny and honest guide, Mustafa is your man. He guided a group of friends and me safely through the desert while being such an amazing human who made the tough surroundings of the heath just entertaining and legendary. 10 out of 10.

Amazing adventure where I have learnt a lot

I can highly recommend spending time at the Sahara with Mustafa. He is an extraordinary guy and super friendly - you can have so much fun with him. I spend 12 days with him crossing the Sahara - what an amazing trip lead by him. He welcomed us as we were friends and shared lots of his knowledge about the dessert and the nomads life with us. Get on an adventure with him - you won’t regret it and will have an amazing time!

A real experience

I highly recommend Bivouac les nomades for a true and intense experience in the desert. I spent three days with two friends in the company of Mustapha, a truly honest, trustworthy and passionate son of the desert. He welcomed us into his daily life with openness and care, sharing great vibes. The desert is healing and demanding, adapting to it might not be easy, but the reward is great.
