Good experience, reliable car, excellent support
We’ve spent little more than a week doing a round trip in a Dacia Duster. The car never let us down, it was quite comfortable sleeping in the back seat. We never actually went on F roads, though on some of the numbered smaller roads the 4wd came in handy. Would recommend to anyone!

5 star rental experience
This was my first trip to Iceland and I was looking for an all wheel drive vehicle that I could sleep in. I researched several rental companies and I decided to rent from Black Sheep Campers. Their price for a rental for 10 days was comparable or even slightly less expensive than other companies. Then, I appreciated the selection of cars they had for what I was looking for. These were the two primary reasons I rented from BSC. I decided to rent the Dacia Duster (sleep in the back) and BSC provided a mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, towel, table, chair and all the cooking gear I needed. This was perfect for me. I am 5'8" and the length was great. I will say that the Dacia Duster might be a tight fit for two people to sleep in, especially if one person is taller than 5'10". BSC provided clear and easy to follow pick up and drop off information and they were quick to respond to my emails or phone calls when I had questions, which I appreciated. Also, Indi and Stefan were kind, patient and supportive with my inquiries. My experience from BSC was excellent and I highly recommend this company. When I return to Iceland, I will rent from them again.

Brilliant experience with Blacksheep…
Brilliant experience with Blacksheep campers from beginning to end! We are a family of 4, two boys aged 14 and 12. I initially found the Ford Explorer with roof tent on Air B&B (which had lots of pictures and helped me see the sleep in the back set up) by the time I had booked flights that option had gone but I contacted Blacksheep via the website with my request and date and they said they could provide what we needed though they did advise I might not be able to pick up until the afternoon.
When I emailed to confirm booking and to check what additionally extras I needed to book for 4 (the extra person pack) they were quick to respond.
The flybus tickets came through with the instructions on car collection prior to our travel and was so easy. We got off our early morning flight and straight on the flybus to the terminal. As we thought we would have a day to fill in Reykjavik prior to collection we had something to eat in the cafe at the terminal and were pleased to find a great left luggage area where we could leave our kit. My husband thought he would just go and check where the car would be later and as luck would have it met Indie dropping off the car! He kindly said we could have the car early and handed over in person. With there being 4 of us they had thoughtfully put a bigger gas cooker and sauce pan in the pack.
The set up is very comfy with big sleeping bags suitable down to -17, proper pillows and a foam mat for the boot (and another in the roof tent but that packed into the roof tent) and full sized towels which was all excellent and meant we all slept well. It did make fitting our kit in a slight challenge but we had packed light and found good storage for the stove and spare shoes under the back seats.
The truck was in good order and my husband enjoyed driving it. It was easy to use 4WD and we had no issues with it.
The cigarette charger with 4 USB charge points in made it easy to charge up our phones and watches along the way.
We travelled all around Iceland staying in a different campsite each night. There was never any need to prebook and we got really good at setting up quickly. We were incredibly lucky with the weather......no rain until the last day...which made it all much easier.
We cooked basic meals on the stove provided and that would have been fine but we had also brought our own jet boil to quickly boil water for drinks along side that. We didn't use the campsite cooking facilities at all but they all seemed to have them but were often busy so we were glad to be self sufficient. I had packed a little knife but need not have as there was a good one provided along with chopping board, utensils, washing up liquid and t-towel (I brought extra t-towels with us, washing line and a few bin bags which saved us buying a whole roll).
We were mostly able to sit out until bed but when it got a little cooler we managed to sit 4 of us in the bed boot to play cards by! The boys slept in the roof tent and husband and I in the boot. Indie had recommended the other way and was probably right but my boys are taller than me and we were very comfy in the boot and woke up earlier! There were sun shades provided but we had no need of them, the windows had a tint and we closed our eyes and slept well!
Iceland was beautiful, we had so much flexibility with the Explorer and roof tent. Blacksheep are a lovely friendly family company who made this amazing adventure possible for us. We had no problems but were confident we had full support from them should we have needed it.

Ring Road Voyage
Our trip was made spectacular thanks to Blacksheep Campers! We rented the automatic Jimny Suzuki for a 2 week trip around Ring Road and the car was perfect. The pop-up tent was super easy to set up and take down. The mattress and pillow were surprisingly pretty comfy and the sleeping bag was cozy and kept us warm even up north. We also got the tablet with wifi which made navigating very easy. The trunk space is pretty small though and with the camping gear that they provide, space becomes limited so pack light! We were able to string a clothes line through the car as well to dry our laundry. Blacksheep campers responded promptly to all my emails with questions. We accidentally lost the medal poles provided on our last night camping so I would suggest making a checklist of everything and going over it before you leave each campsite. We really enjoyed the Jimny as it’s compact size and 4x4 made it easy to get around and camp. Overall great experience!

Summer adventure with Suzuki Jimny with a roof tent
I rented a Suzuki Jimny with a roof tent and all camping supplies for my 5 day adventure and it was fantastic. During the summer 24 daylight, the tent was dark and cozy which was a great surprise. Black Sheep had great communication from the start and even provided YouTube tutorials on how to set up the tent. The vehicle itself was clean and safe. Would highly recommend. Thank you

Rented a 4x4 Suzuki Jimny
We rented a 4x4 Suzuki Jimny with a rooftop tent. The sleeping bags were perfect for all weather conditions, we were never cold even when it snowed. When the tent is closed up, it's very dark inside. So sleeping during the Icelandic summer is no problem at all.
The cooking equipment was good, it had everything to cook on a camping gas stove. We would have appreciated a spatula for the frying pan.
Communication and service was very easy and quick. The tent that we additionally ordered, was missing during the self-pickup, but they brought it in less than 15mins.
Overall we had a great experience during our stay and would rent from Blacksheep Campers again.

The car and the top roof tent are great
The car and the top roof tent are excellent. The sleeping bags, pillows and mattress were also very good. Some kitchen utensils, such as pots and pans, should be renewed. The worst drawback of the rental was that at the time of booking, the app gave us the option to return the vehicle to Keflavik airport, which was fine for us to finish the trip. In fact, this was one of the main reasons for renting through your company, but at the end this option was not available, and our return to the airport was by bus. You should remove this option from your website because it is misleading.

The car (ford explorer) had everything we needed for camping, and brought us everywhere we needed to go. Great experience. It was very easy to check-in and check-out. If we needed any assistance, the response would come in a couple of minutes, great communication. Would definitely do that again, highly recommended.

Gave 5 stars because the car didn’t…
Gave 5 stars because the car didn’t give us much trouble. It was a 2017 duster 4X4 manual. Rusted at places but mechanically sound. There were a few rough edges but nothing to bother us. The pick up and drop off was hassle free. Overall good experience and have nothing to complain about. Would recommend these guys for renting your car.

Everything you need and super easy
Brilliant set up. We rented a 4x4 Jimny with a roof tent.
The truck and the set up for camping were brilliant, the sleeping bags, pillows and bottom sheet we’re comfortable and incredibly fresh smelling :-)
Everything we needed was included, even the wifi sat nav was super easy to use.
4 star rather than 5 as you can’t collect or drop off at the airport which is a little bit of additional time spent away from adventuring, however the inclusion of the flybus tickets was a great thought.
