Great customer service
There was initially a delay with the order (UPS fault not the company) emailed the company and they fully refunded the postage amount and sent me another backdrop completely free. Excellent customer service and the backdrop has been great so far . Thanks again

Repeat Black velvet Customer
I've bought backdrops from Black Velvet for a number of years and have never been disappointed. The designs are well made and versatile - and there is a lot of choice. Unlike a lot of businesses I have to say that their customer service is excellent too. On the odd occasion I've had a query it has been resolved quickly and in a friendly manner.
I don't often leave reviews but am happy to do so for BVS as they're a good little business!

Beautiful designs
Beautiful designs, unfortunately all my purchased backdrops (ordered few times) were heavily scratched after first use. Reported the quality issues, no replacement received.
Can recommend it only for one time use.

New Backgrounds are not up to the standard.
I've been a fan of Black Velvet Styling backgrounds for years, drawn to their vibrant colour choices. However, my recent order during the Black Friday sale left me underwhelmed. Out of the 8 backgrounds I purchased, 3 arrived damaged.
Sophie's quick replacement was appreciated, but the thin vinyl material used proved to be of notably poor quality.
Unlike my durable backgrounds from two years ago, these scratched easily with minimal contact - like a bowl / smooth wooden chopping board. The lack of an option to choose between thin and thick vinyl was also a letdown. I hope Black Velvet Styling reevaluates their materials to maintain the high standards.

You can indeed choose between the thinner vinyl and our original extra-thick vinyl on all of our backdrops now, as well as sustainable paper. We offer several options that work with different uses, priorities and budgets.
None of our materials should scratch easily though - if you email us we will be happy to send replacements as we always do for damaged or faulty items. Thank you

The most beautiful backdrops in incredible designs, I wouldn't buy any other kind. Sophie and her team are super helpful and always ready to help with last minute requests - can't recommend them highly enough.

Wish they were more resilient
Some really lovely vinyl backdrops which I really loved upon arrival. They make for beautiful photography backdrops, unfortunately one especially got incredibly scratched up after only one or two uses, despite there being no heat, sharp objects, or water being involved in the shoot (it was just dry plates of food). With the amount I use backdrops for work, they need to be resilient else I would be ordering a new batch every week, and unfortunately, no matter how careful I am, they just get damaged so quickly and I end up spending ages fixing the scratches in post.
I wrote to the company explaining the situation and sent photos to back it up. This was over a month ago and I have yet to hear back. I even sent a follow up email on the 17th August, nearly 10 days ago now, and have heard nothing. I’m not sure where else to get backdrops from, but I am disappointed with my experience. I wish they were as resilient as they are beautiful!

If I have linked the timing and name correctly I can see the email thread with my colleague Denise and from what I can tell she replied to every email within 24hrs however one was not received at your end for some reason leaving you waiting for our response – I can assure you it is showing in our outbox as sent and I can only apologise for what must have felt like a long and frustrating delay for you.
I can also see that Denise sent a free replacement for the defective backdrop you kindly sent pictures of showing the damage, so I trust she has resolved this as best she could for you.
Please be assured that on the rare occasion any of our items arrived damaged or defective we will always do our best to resolve the situation for our customers, whether they require a replacement or refund.
I hope you enjoy shooting with the rest of your backdrops and we can be of service to you again in the future!
