BLOCKFOLIO INTERVIEW PROCESS:
(This post is from 2018. It was somehow pulled down so I’m reposting it.)
I was in the initial contact stages of the interview process with Blockfolio and to be fully transparent, I've never had a more unprofessional experience than the one I had with the Company's very junior (clearly), and inexperienced HR representative, Kailin Rutherford. She was rude when I asked her some prescreening questions, to have a better idea of the position and what the company was offering. She patronized me in her short, condescending responses - NOT answering my questions, but instead simply "beating around the bush" to dodge the answers... To help you better understand, I'm a very experienced professional in my field and have worked for highly-decorated Fortune 500 CEO's so to have this naive, smart-a** give me attitude or any other BS besides the answers, I very kindly asked her for, is enough to speak volumes about Blockfolio’s Leadership Team and company as a whole.
Note to Blockfolio Executive Team: RE-source, vet and secure TALENTED, EXPERIENCED and RESPECTFUL PROFESSIONALS to join your team... Or you're never going to measure up to your competition.
I'll tell you one of the questions I asked Kailin and then provide you her response. She wouldn't tell me what the salary-range was (makes no sense) so I flipped the script and asked her the below, to make sure there was even a reason to move forward in the process:
Q: My target salary is ____________, is that within the range being offered for the position?
Her Verbatim Response:
“While constraints are always important to accommodate for and your compensation is not out of range, we are looking for people who do not circumvent discussions about our company and product (more vital considerations to fit for us) to state compensation requirements."
That is the DUMBEST answer I've EVER received from ANY company, regarding discussions of salary…. LITERALLY!
Okay, Kailin:
1.) Put down Webster's Thesaurus and stop attempting to sound more intelligent than you are...
That entire paragraph was beyond BS.
2.) Having an open, transparent conversation about the salary-range being offered for a position you're trying to fill, is neither a "constraint to accommodate," nor should it EVER be a secret... So why the hell are you not telling candidates what the salary is? Do you like wasting everyone's time? Educate yourself on how to recruit because you clearly don’t know what the hell your doing and you’re making your company look like a joke.
ALL that paragraph said (in layman's terms, for those of you who don't suck the teet of a Thesaurus like Kailin does) was: "We're looking for less-intelligent people to join our team. People who don't ask questions about salaries, but instead, allow US TO CIRCUMVENT discussions about our laughable, mediocre offer-package, to discuss our company and products (which no one cares about because Blockfolio isn’t even a speck of dust on the industry map). We really want those kinds of “talent” (dumb and manipulatable people) to join our team.”
What a joke... Don’t ever waste your time with this company... They’re clearly cheap and hire useless people like Kailin.
