Constant measurement issues

I have been desperate for one of these blinds for my children's room having seen rave reviews on Mumsnet. We finally purchased with the Black Friday discount and it has taken a lot of time and energy to get right. Fortunately we purchased the extra insurance, because when the first blind arrived it did not fit. This was partly due to our error (2mm out, when confirmed with laser which I wish we had used to begin with - highly recommend you do not rely on tape measure). However the side pieces did not measure the same size and we had to shave down our window sill to get one to fit. Annoying, but I thought fair enough if we got the blackout I had hoped.
A replacement casette was ordered and customer service replies were slow. I appreciate due to a busy time (closed for 2 weeks over Christmas). The replacement was dispatched promptly at least. We had issues with the replacement as it could not be raised easily and did not stay open.
Bloc Out Blinds issued us another replacement. We had further sizing issues but have made it work ourselves.
It is a good black out fit now (with some filler we added for a couple of chinks).

My advice is that you absolutely need the insurance for measuring as there is so little tolerance. I think we were unlucky with some of the other things as we ordered at such a busy time of year.

Avoid- u less you are local and they fit them for you.

For such great advertising and what could have been a great product, has turned into a nightmare.
Wrong sizes being sent, creases in the blinds with no way of getting out, motor on the electric blind having constant issues ( it’s simply not strong enough for the weight of the blind). Months later, I have been left with 2 out of the 4 blinds not working/ being the wrong size and my mails/ videos all being battered back with no accountability or offers of resolution.
Think twice about ordering from here unless you are local to where they are and for them for you.

The company service was excellent but the product had a few shortcomings

The website was very easy to follow and I followed the measurement instructions and placed an order for a motorised blackout blind. The blind arrived in just over a week.

The blind was well made and relatively easy to install. However I could not make the remote work. The BlocOut help department talked me through the pairing process and solved the problem. Full marks for the service!

A couple of minor points. The instructions for the remote operation of the blind are not very clear. Another thing to be aware of is that although the blind material is opaque there are too many light leaks around the blind for this to approach a proper blackout blind.

Good quality blinds - a must if you have kids

I’ve now got Bloc Blinds in all rooms upstairs at my house. I wish I’d have found them before I ordered made to measure traditional ‘blackout blinds’ where the light all seeps around the edges.

A must now I have children, no early wakes in the summer with complete blackout.

They’re also amazing at helping retain heat in the bedrooms in the winter and also good for keeping rooms cool in the summer.

Important to measure well.

We are very disappointed with these blinds. They don't fit so we've had to make channels for the panels to fit. Not worth the hassle we are having to try fit them. Not worth the money considering the problems they have caused. Definitely not buying them again.

I bought insurance but is only valid…

I bought insurance but is only valid for 2 weeks upon delivery which is very difficult as I was not in a position to install them right away.

I had an issue with one of my measurements which was out by 0-1cm along the wall which was crooked.

There isn't enough buffer in their system to account for such errors in width.

In the end I had to buy a shim piece to make up the difference. Luckily I have some experience in building. It's not as simple as they make out.

A good product if everything lines up perfectly but I'm just saying they should consider this in their design. I'm sure I'm not alone.

Wish i could upload photos

Where to start. I wish I could upload photos. The screw caps are translucent, for a start. There are light leaks all over. The bit where the chain comes out especially, by design. And that is all with the fact that i have a second, normal blind behind this one on the inside (this one is on the outside), imagine if i just relied on this. Overall, its a poor and expensive excuse for a "blackout" blind. I've contacted customer service, awaiting a response. I mean... what black out blind should come with translucent anything?

The blind was damaged when it arrived

The blind was damaged when it arrived. It was not packed properly to avoid damage in transit. Disappointing after waiting over two weeks for it. Sending it back was a nightmare with dpd and arranging pick up correctly took a couple of tries and a lot of chasing and calling the office.
No compensation or gesture was given as a result just an apology.
Blind is not at the same spec as described on the website. The fixtures and fittings are very bulky too. And this does not come across properly in the details on the website.

Bed blind

Is good and blocks out a high percent of light but ended up having to caulk up the sides of the frame as it was just two lines of light where it meets the wall couple bright spots in the corners as well were it meets the cill an joins at the top sadly when your eyes adjust to the dark they seem bright

Lovely pattern - wouldn’t purchase again

Lovely pattern, great quality material, quick delivery and relatively easy to install. However nothing is provided to account for a window that is not 100% straight so light gets in those gaps of our new build, there are also two little gaps at the bottom of the blind when it is shut between the plastic bit and the frame. It also isn’t the smoothest to open. All in all beautiful blind that mostly does the job but I wouldn’t purchase again.

Too long, despite measuring correctly.

For context the blind I ordered was £840 although I did get 30% off in the black Friday sale.

Firstly the website says blinds are handmade in the UK. According to the DPD tracking my blind was shipped from Mumbai.

When I ordered the blind I followed the instructions and measured using a laser measure. I did not pay the extra £80 for measurement insurance because in my 40 years experience, I have never had a problem. When the blind arrived there was no way it was going to fit as it was too long. I double checked the measurements and what i had supplied was correct. To get it to fit I had to remove the plaster from both sides and eventually it went in. After removing the plaster I measured the width again and it was now 7mm wider than what it had been before (a significant difference). I am now left with some filling and decorating to do.

Fortunately once I got over that hurdle everything else seemed to fit ok.

Another note on setting up the blind with the connector. The app instructions weren't great. I had to Google it and found the missing instruction.

Its only been up an hour but I am happy with how it looks and operates. Im not sure on how effective it is at blocking out the light yet.

I was considering getting another couple but if I have to destroy my window surrounds im not sure I will bother.
