Experience with the Team

As a Client Manager at Blue Iris Landscapes Ltd, I can honestly say my experience with the company has been amazing. I’ve recently received a pay rise, which really reflects how valued and supported I feel within the business.

I work closely with Mr Harker and the team, and they are absolutely fantastic. Everyone is friendly, approachable, and always willing to help, which makes such a positive difference day to day. The level of knowledge within the team is outstanding, and it’s clear they take real pride in their work and expertise.

Blue Iris Landscapes Ltd is a great company to work for, with a supportive environment and a strong, knowledgeable team. I’m genuinely proud to be part of it and look forward to continuing my journey here.

hot summer

It has been a hot, dry summer which has made garden maintenance problematic. However the workmen have always made great efforts to overcome these issues. They take an interest in their work and are always pleasant and helpful- and always turn up on time. And they smile!

Excellent service

You certainly get what you pay for with Blue Iris! The team worked very hard through some dreadful weather to completely re-design our garden and considering the amount of mud generated by the rain they kept the site very clean and tidy. We are now enjoying the benefits of their great work.

Jason the cowboy con artist

Straight to the truth… Jason Harker is the biggest con-artist in Stoke on Trent. The only thing he is professional in is ripping people off with his pricing range at £35ppph for people who aren’t qualified to use most equipment including nap sacks and also chainsaws and have either bare or minimum experience. His pricing for materials on landscaping jobs are 3x the amount he actually pays for them and if he doesn’t use all of the materials the customer has paid for, he will use them himself to produce his own garden furniture with his customers materials!!! As you can see in the pictures, that is how he fills in a swimming pool for a customer he’ll throw anything he can in to minimise the rubbish waste he has to take back to his yard.I have relevant evidence to back my statement and I would suggest if you have had work done by Blue Iris or Jason Harker to check the work and if there is any corners cut or if you are unsure on something to get advice and report him too trading standards.

A great Garden Design and Landscaping company.

Blue iris have designed and landscaped my front and rear garden and they have done the most wonderful job!
The design was fantastic and being able to walk through it was brilliant.
There customer service was fantastic, always communicating with me and keeping me up to date with the progress. This was especially useful when I was away and it made feel so much more at ease.
With regards the finished garden all I can say is Wow! It is even better than I imagined.
Thank you to Jason, Rebecca and all the team for looking after me.

Terrible customer service. Avoid!

As a business owner myself, I know that customer service experience is a vital cog for the success of any business. Today, unfortunately, I had an utterly terrible one with Blue Iris Landscapes that I would like to share.

I was looking for some company to help to design my front garden and contacted and booked a visit with Blue Iris. The first red flag was that they charge £48 just to come and provide a quote. That was a first, but I paid and got an appointment for today at 10:15 am.

At 9:33 am I received a call from Blue Iris saying that Mr Harker, (the designer and director) was late due to the bad weather and traffic and that all appointments were late 1 hour, meaning he would come over at 11:15 am instead. I had to rearrange some meetings, but I agreed with the new timing.

At 10:06 am they called a second time, changing the time once more, now asking to come at 10:30 am. As I already had to move my meetings and my wife would also be busy at the new time I asked if he could come over at the newly agreed time. They hang up to call Mr Harker. At this point, I was wondering why he couldn't talk to me directly...

At 10:12 am they called a third time saying that he could only come at 10:30 am, I ended up agreeing because I was keen to get it done ASAP. But I was a bit frustrated that I would reschedule a meeting and my wife wouldn't be able to join.

At 10:16 am they called a fourth time and cancelled my appointment and saying that would refund my money. They said that Mr Harker decided not to come because I prefered another time??! And he was on his way to another one? And refund? What about reschedule? What about calling the customer and settle another day/time? What about apologies for the confusion? Why getting 4 calls and changing times twice in less 1 hours intervals? At this point, I got extremely frustrated and furious! I was wondering how can new customers be discardable like this. Especially from a company that charges to quote a project and stipulate a minimum of £5,000 for a project. At least I'm glad this happened before making any deals with this company.

Another point is that I was promised to receive a call back to get a refund, but so for nothing...

Anyway, lesson learned. I need to do better research about companies before contacting them. It's my own fault that I didn't read the bad reviews that people left on the internet

Dear Mr. Ferreira,
It was disappointing yet expected to receive your negative review after we spoke yesterday.

We were particularly disappointed to hear that you have interpreted our actions and communications with you in such a negative way. We find that one of the largest gripes that our clients have is the lack of communication from gardeners and landscapers with themselves. We are often told that prospective clients may phone anything between 5 and 10 landscapers before they even get one person to answer the phone. Following that the majority do not even turn up for the appointment and those that do seldom even send a written quote. The reason that many of our clients proceed with ourselves is that we maintain a high level of communication with them, from when they enquire through to when they are having the work completed.

We feel that our actions yesterday were proactive, with the intention of keeping you fully informed of the Director, Mr Harker, running late. This was through no fault of his own. Unfortunately, the weather yesterday was dreadful, as we are sure you can remember, and this caused significant traffic issues. In addition to this a previous customer (you were his fourth appointment that morning) had taken up a significant portion time speaking to Mr Harker about their requirements.

As soon as we realised that Mr Harker was running late, we calculated the travel time and expected duration of the appointment that Mr Harker was on and had given you an estimated time of arrival of 11.15am. We appreciate that this was a whole hour later than when you had initially booked in and was not ideal but could not be helped due to the reason stated above.

The next appointment, however, ended up being very short and as soon as Mr Harker was on the move again, we contacted him for an estimated arrival time for your appointment. This ended up being only 15mins later than your first appointment which we thought you would be delighted about. Unfortunately, that was not the case. When we contacted you to inform you that Mr Harker would actually only be 15 minutes later than your original appointment slot, you dictated that Mr Harker had to arrive at 10.15am or 11.15am. Mr Harker was still 15 minutes from your property and the time was already 10.15am so it was unrealistic to expect Mr Harker to arrive for 10.15am. It was also unrealistic to expect Mr Harker to wait outside your property for 45 minutes to wait for you. Therefore, we sadly informed you that we could not oblige you as he had a full calendar and we thought it best to cancel the visit and refund you.

You then reneged on your demand and said that 10.30am would be ok. Unfortunately, by this point, Mr Harker had driven past your junction on the M6 and would have had a round trip of 17 miles to get back to Junction 16. This would have further delayed the remainder of the appointments he had booked in for the rest of the day, therefore we confirmed that we would still cancel the site visit and refund you.

We feel that we communicated openly with you from the moment that we were aware that Mr Harker would be late, providing you with up to the moment information as to when Mr Harker would arrive with you. Despite our regular communication, you were rude to our Client Managers and were deliberately obstructive when Mr Harker was confirmed as on his way to you. Therefore, we did not offer you an alternative appointment and refunded your site visit fee immediately.

It is always disappointing when something like this happens, thankfully the majority of our clients are lovely people and understand that appointment times need to have a certain degree of flexibility.

We wish you all the best in finding a suitable landscape gardener.

Excellent service from start to finish

My experience with Blue Iris has been excellent from start to finish. My garden was on all different levels with old sleepers that were starting to disintegrate. Over the course of three weeks it was completely dug out, retaining walls built and a flat patio and lawn area put in. The team were on site before 7.30 every day and didn’t leave until after 4. They were tidy, polite and very professional and I am delighted with the end results - I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this company.

I have had various dealings with Jason and his team over the last few years. They all
Work to very high standards even when it comes down to simple items like logs! They are all knowledgeable as well. Everyone is very helpful and works hard to exceed expectations at every stage. Thank you Jason and your team.

Blue Iris - excellent service and delivery

Blue Iris

I have had a variety of work completed by Blue Iris in recent times but over the last 12 months I have had a particularly bad case of Mares Tail, a persistent prehistoric weed, infesting my garden and adjacent properties.

The service delivered by Blue Iris from Jason, Laura, Matt and the team to address this problem has been absolutely gold standard. The planning and organisation of the visits and attention to detail at delivery time has been second to none and I could not rate their customer service any highly. When the weather has prevailed to disrupt garden treatments they have been particularly flexible and accommodating to re arrange and their communications have been most effective.

Laura and Matt have been without question a pleasure to work with and their help is greatly appreciated. I have no hesitation in saying that there can be no doubt that Blue Iris is truly a company where the 'customer comes first'
