Sadly not worth the money to get such terrible customer service. Photobook is good quality but their software is not user-friendly and very time-consuming since it lacks basic useful features. The customer service team on are incapable of reading an email chain or of understanding a situation - firstly the courier service they use does not allow the buyer to track, my parcel was late and did not arrive before I went on holiday. On contacting Bobbooks to try to divert the parcel they decided to send me a second copy which meant 2 parcels were left in my garden while I was away.

Great experience!

My mum recommended this site to me to create a photo book as a gift for a friend with some pictures from her hen do. The software was really easy to use and the quality of the book was great, I wanted to keep it for myself! I will definitely use again to create some books of future trips.

First photobook with Bob Books…

I have just made my first Bob Books photobook of a recent trip to Australia and New Zealand. I found the software easy to navigate with helpful prompts when I was misaligning the photos, or for putting in text boxes. The templates option for the book is good, but it's also easy to mix it with pages when you want to do your own thing.

My book arrived very promptly and the quality is excellent. I will Bob Books again for other trips.

Appalling customer service

I recently contacted their customer service to confirm details about my photo book order since I was seeing two different images online. Unfortunately, my experience was extremely frustrating and disappointing.

Despite providing all relevant information multiple times, including my name and order details, I was repeatedly asked for "permission" to check a "backup copy" of my order, with no clear explanation of what that meant. The representative seemed unprepared to handle my simple request: confirming the front and back covers of my order.

I spent over 20 minutes on the chat, with long waits and between messages. (Before this, I phoned with the same unhelpfulness.) It took way too long to get a basic question answered. The rep even stated that "data privacy" procedures needed to be followed...this was about 15 minutes into us going back and forth. First and last time using Bob Books.

I've used Bob Books for over 5 years…

I've used Bob Books for over 5 years and they've been pretty consistent in their standards. The price, for the quality, has always been okay.

The design software has always been super glitchy and frustrating. However, they have done nothing to improve it. Nothing to stop the books from wrinkling in transit (and that includes the reprints) claiming that the damp atmosphere makes them wrinkle and to let them settle in a dry area for a few days (that doesn't work). Rather than engaging a brain cell and putting silicone pouches in with the books to keep them dry, they just shrugged it off. It makes for a more stressful and poor service all round. Their live chat feature wasn't responded to within an hour and a half and, when I asked if I could create a PDF proof for my clients (as I had forgotten how I'd done it before) they said there wasn't a way of doing that. For a book printers to be unable to offer that as standard is pretty poor.

I did, however, discover a convoluted way to do it, but without the help of their staff.

This last batch of books that I have designed and will order shortly, will be the last books I order from them. I would recommend going somewhere else if you require high quality, stress free, design-engaging books - 'cos these ain't it.

Bob Books … we love them!

I made my mum a really personalised photo book with words and memories from her family and friends for her 80th. Bob Books was so user friendly compared to other apps I tried (which all made it difficult to add text), and the book I created was so special. It looks great too, and was packaged carefully so arrived perfect. Quick turnaround too. Also love the option to share a link so others can view the book. Was very proud to give this to my mum and I’m already planning the next one!

Beautiful results and excellent customer service

I have used Bob Books to create my family photo albums for almost seven years now and I could not recommend them more. I look forward to the process every year – with a fun and intuitive design program and a customer-service team that go above and beyond, it is always an absolute pleasure. The results are super-luxe, quality-printed, beautifully-bound books holding all my most precious memories, that I will treasure for the rest of my life and most likely hand down to my children. This company has gotten worse over the years. The quality of the product has diminished and the software is painful to use, especially as a professional trying to design albums for clients. I will be going elsewhere after using Bob Books for 6+ years.

Frustrations with PDF-to-book service

I placed an order for x3 PDF-to-Book photobooks on the 8th or April for £155. The payment went through and I received a confirmation page.

Ten days later, after hearing nothing from Bob Books I emailed to check the status of my order only to be told they never received it and I'd have to order again (despite the money being blocked on my card and being shown a confirmation page after uploading my files)

Frustrated, I did so, blocking a further £150 on my card. Despite using their InDesign profiles and checking my files manually, I received an automated email claiming there was apparently an issue with my uploads that required attention. The included links in this email were broken.

There was no way to address the issue, other than to reorder, which would block an additional £150 on my card.

This is absurd. There is no way to pre-check files, no way to re-upload files or no way to manually send in updated files.

On top of this, their customer support was incredibly slow, claiming that they'd been in touch with head office and that I'd hear from them soon (I didn't). Every email took days to get a reply, offering very little help except "create a new order" and here I am nearly a month after my initial order with nothing to show for it.

Hugely disappointed with their service and will be using a competitor.

I personally found difficulty with the in-app interface.

Everything was very much self explanatory but when I tried it on my iPad, the app kept refreshing and not uploading any of my images. I tried a number of times and each time it did the same thing.

I tried uploading 1 image at a time and it didn't seem to work either. I ended up downloading the app on my desktop and it worked really well there, just didn't seem very compatible with my iPad.

It's very expensive too, I make an album for my mum for Mothers Day from Bobbooks every year and it seems to get more and more expensive year by year.

Great for printing photo books

The UI for creating books from PDF is slightly clunky, the InDesign template generator doesn't work in recent versions of macOS, and the print quality wasn't perfect. However, printing as really fast and we were very happy with photo books!

I've made so many Bob Books over the…

I've made so many Bob Books over the years since my first one for my wedding in 2011! But since Cewe have taken over it's really hard work using the software, takes longer and less enjoyable. Why no grids, why no snap to other picture, mid lines. Why do only a few of the templates have text options, and then you have to use a template really on the online editor and it always cuts out the nicest aspect of the photos. Might try the desktop version but otherwise, bye bye Bob!
