What a great experience. I loved every minute of the build. I now have a guitar that in my opinion sounds better than a factory built custom guitar. A few tips for builders. Make sure you allow the coatings to fully cure. I built mine in the cold weather and didn't allow the colour to fully cure before the top coat. It will pull the colour off if you dont let it cure. Build up the clear coat gradually, wet sand if you want to and you will get a great finish.

Ah, the joys of dealing with a small, customer-focussed company! I had a small problem with the ordering process (my fault) resolved quickly after one phone call. As for the guitar itself; I genuinely can't fault it. The quality of the components, the ease of the build, the playability and sound of the end result, all surpassed my expectations. My advice, don't buy cheap, buy Bolt!

When I had a query regarding delivery the company responded quickly and were very helpful.

I did not buy a full electric guitar kit, only the finishing products. The video instructions that become available when you buy a product from Bolt are excellent and take the customer through the process in a clear step-by-step process. The stain / dye mixed with the water-based hard varnish builds up with each thin layer applied until you achieve a solid opaque colour, or earlier if you still wish the grain of the wood to show through. It is fast drying, very easy to apply, and cleanup is easy so it's something that can be done in a house. Just follow the instructions.

Quality kit - well worth the money. My only criticism would be about the gloss finish.Dries much too quickly to get a smooth finish across the body. Solved this by adding water to delay the drying process.Minimal final set up required and very happy with the result.

The online video's are very helpful if you have never built a guitar before and the whole experience was better than expected. The flame neck was a surprise and the quality of wood for the body again was a surprise for the price of the kit and would hope they do other models ie: Strat or offset.
I built the guitar with the beach look in sea foam green with a black pickguard and it looks stunning, the neck is as smooth as a babies bottom and can highly recommend this kit.

High quality parts and easy to follow instructions. End result, a great guitar for a bargain price. Can't recommend highly enough.

Having looked at numerous cheap kit guitars over this last couple of years, I held off buying one due to some of the bad reviews I have seen on the majority of them. Having come across Bolt Guitars back in November, and read the positive reviews on their guitar kit, I decided to go ahead and purchase one.

Not only do they put all of the parts you need to build the Telecaster guitar in the kit, along with one`s chosen colour of dye! I considered the kit to be reasonably priced.

The service from the company has been excellent from start to finish. It also helped having the online instructional videos in the portal which are so easy to follow. An extra bonus was the Facebook group where I could seek extra help or advice if needed.

The guitar kit has been designed to a high standard, with any predrilled holes drilled correctly. The guitar neck fit perfectly into the guitar body, without any issues. All in all, a great kit, which I enjoyed building, and a good reasonable playable guitar a the end of it.

Purchased the Thunder Road DIY Kit, very impressed with the quality of the parts. No upgrades required, everything supplied is top quality including a wonderfully flamed maple neck.

Build process is straightforward thanks to the excellent series of instructional videos. Every step of the assembly and finishing is covered in detail and makes the whole process so simple that anyone can genuinely build a quality instrument over the course of five days.

All that's required are a few tools and a couple of hours a day, the end result is a fantastic guitar and a sense of real achievement.

The parts are specced to perfection and only a minimal set up is required to get the guitar playing perfectly once assembled.

I would highly recommend this kit to anyone, great fun to build and most importantly, you will end up with a great guitar!

A fret had risen on either end of the neck, probably due to the humid weather. Contacted Bolt and they immediately arranged a Zoom call and worked with me to resolve. They really believe in their guitars and will go the extra mile to make sure the experience of building them is an enjoyable and positive one. Would not hesitate to recommend them.

The guitar kit was received well packaged and everything was present. The quality of the kit is first class and as described.
I followed the great tutorial through to the end and was left with a great looking, feeling and sounding guitar.
