Beaumaris 20 Rosemary Lane

Abysmal company to deal with the property was not nice . The and I quote “ pleasant courtyard to sit and enjoy a glass of wine in” turned out to be a filthy 2 yards long slabbed area that had a open blocked drain that the shower and kitchen waste ran into ! The yard has not seen any sign of being cleaned for a very long time . The lounge carpet was stained ( looked like a dog had done its toilet on it in two places ) obvious to any one that saw it the kitchen rug was dirty and the entrance to the property was full of weeds . NOT what you want to be greeted with when it’s after a long drive and your only holiday ! Also at £600 for 5 nights we were bitterly disappointed. Only stayed 2 nights and the company have no intention of reimbursing any funds as we didn’t inform them whilst in residence ! Also the wrong information was given as to the cost of parking in Beaumaris Car Park . This company obviously doesn’t care about their customers once you’ve paid and have no system in place for checking on their cleaning teams . Shame on you NEVER AGAIN !

Tyn Towyn cottage Rhosneigr Anglesey

Arrived Monday evening 4th May expecting a quaint cute cottage to relax in for a week.
Looks are very deceiving compared to the advertised images.
The so called garden is just an unkempt lawn and picnic table, no comfy garden furniture to relax in or even plants or shrubs.
Opened the door to a lovely damp mop bleach smell.
The more I looked around the more I saw to make me just want to turn around and walk straight out.
The place felt grubby and neglected.
Its expensive to stay here and don't expect to find....
Biggest issue...black mould in small bedroom from damp walls and bubbled and flaking paint...health issue!!!
Stained chair, rusty washing machine, dirty walls and flaking paint from the damp, roman blind held up with pegs, log burner filthy and on its last legs, bathroom cabinet cracked and wall cupboard mirror tarnished, floor tiles loose.

The owners have just not maintained or given any TLC to this lovely property for what seems a long time and its fully booked up til November so making alot of money from it.
Just hope they have made use of this week while its empty as I left within 14hrs to deal with the issues as I feel they have a duty to when paying customers are expecting the best for what they charge...£1000+ per week !! P.s no wardrobes or space to hang any clothes and it sleeps upto 4...its teeny so be mindful as it will be a tight squeeze for more than 1 person staying there

Boltholes and Hideaways company where brilliant and tried to find other accommodation but couldn't, so I had a full refund

Five Star Holiday Company

Just come back from a four day break staying at Bwthyn Bach in Church Bay on Anglesey and wanted to say what a wonderful holiday we had with you. We had a couple of very minor issues but Caroline from B&H advised us how to resolve them very quickly. Great customer service.
This is the second time we’ve used your company. Booking process is so easy. Last year we stayed in Aberffraw at Penrhyn Gwyn and was blown away by its location. Both properties were beautifully presented and located. We will most definitely be using you again. Well done Boltholes and Hideaways - you well and truly deserve the five stars we’ve awarded to you.

Thank you
Karen G

Pandy. Aberffwar

Stayed in Aberffwar, Pandy cottage. Nice and quiet. Basic but everything you need.
Need more storage cupboards or shelves for foods etc. DEFINITELY needs a new glove for the wood burner. Matching bowls would be nice and some pasta dishes would be a great addition.

Fabulous professional company with a great ethos.

We stayed in many cottages with bolt holes and hideaway we have always had a lovely time without issues, we have always found communication with them in terms of booking a very straightforward process.
We had an issue with a kettle on one booking and it was resolved within the hour.
Fabulous cottages and I'm fussy in terms of cleaning but never had an issue.

Avoid this company like the plague

Avoid this company like the plague. They are crooks and liars. We booked one of their properties through VRBO and Boltholes and Hideaways went behind our backs and cancelled the booking with VRBO who told us that it would be in order to get payment of the deposit that had already been receipted by VRBO paid directly to them. We lost our holiday and also the money that we had paid for insurance through the VRBO website. We have the entire paper confirming this transaction.

Extremely disappointed - filthy cottage and very poor customer service.

I booked Tyn towyn cottage, Anglesey through Boltholes & Hideaways and was extremely disappointed. The property was filthy on arrival: floors covered in dog hair, mold in the bathroom, fridge and a strong animal smell. The bathroom was freezing, and I could not imagine using it safely. My slipper socks were black after just pottering around for one night.
I contacted Boltholes & Hideaways, and the response was that I should have reported it while I was there. I found this dismissive, as the conditions were unacceptable and made staying impossible.
For the price charged, the standard of cleanliness and maintenance was far below what should be expected. I cannot recommend this property based on my experience.

We’ve had such a wonderful experience…

We’ve had such a wonderful experience with Boltholes and Hideaways. From start to finish, the customer service was absolutely brilliant – friendly, helpful, responsive, and genuinely caring about making sure everything was perfect for our stay.

The range of accommodation they offer is amazing. There’s something for everyone, and each property feels thoughtfully chosen and beautifully presented. It’s clear they really care about quality and comfort.

The whole booking process was smooth and stress-free, and any questions we had were dealt with quickly and professionally.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Boltholes and Hideaways and will definitely be returning for another stay. A truly five-star service!

We booked for a week in Anglesey…

We booked for a week in Anglesey staying at Seaforth.

The property was just as described with fantastic sea views. Next door to the RAF base. Seaforth is a very big house. We did have a few issues on arrival but the letting agent was very helpful and sorted things out for us immediately. The house was very clean and warm on our arrival.

Regards Seaforth we thought the front garden looked untidy. The kitchen is big but with very little storage space. A fabulous big fridge freezer. We couldn’t get the log burner to work in the kitchen but that wasn’t a problem. The big table was great. The coal fire in the lounge was very welcoming. The sound system was handy to have. Dishwasher and washing machine are useful. In addition to the large fridge freezer there is an additional under the counter fridge.

Four bedrooms. Who only used two, both have amazing views, we found the beds to be very comfortable, with lovely linens and good quality bath towels.

Two good sized bathrooms and one downstairs loo which we also used as a drying room. We had the most dreadful weather. The shower room is wonderful with an all singing and dancing shower.

The settees in the lounge areas are very low, but too low for us tbh.
The decking on the back garden was extremely slippery when wet.
The immediate area has a few very nice places to eat and drink.
The beach is about a fifteen minute walk unless you are mobile enough to scramble over the dunes!
Easy car parking for two cars.
Easy access from the lock.
The house has a very efficient central heating system and we were always warm.
Would def recommend and return if we were to visit again.

Thsnkyou for the treats left for us on arrival.

Bryntirion wyn cottage Aberffraw

Stayed at Bryntirion wyn booked for 4 nights only stayed 3 due to lack of sleep.
Bed was very hard not suitable for side sleepers. Sofa was uncomfortable and not sufficient seating for 4 people.
Boltholes and hideaways were not concerned that our stay was not good and offered no compensation or discount for us leaving early. I felt they did not take our comments seriously.

BEWARE Customer service non existent if there is a problem

After a telephone conversation, an email, sent a week ago, with descriptions and numerous photographs of the damp, dirt, lack of hygiene and hair in both the kitchen and bathroom at the property we rented called BORTH BACH for four nights we have heard nothing back. And, interestingly, the property is still being marketed by them.

Looking at the other reviews it seems our experience is not isolated.

Unfairly accused of damage we didn’t cause — urge all future tenants to photograph everything on arrival, as this company does not act impartially.

We had a very distressing experience with Boltholes and Hideaways. After our stay, we were unfairly accused of causing damage to a sofa that we did not use and which was covered when we arrived.

The so-called “evidence” presented by the cleaner was inconsistent — their photographs did not match our own and did not actually prove the sofa was undamaged before our stay. Despite pointing this out, our evidence was dismissed and the process was handled with bias rather than impartiality.

The cleaner was rude to us during our stay, and their later allegations appeared retaliatory. Sadly, the management company sided with them without properly examining the ‘facts’. While the owner eventually agreed to cover the costs of a replacement sofa (confirming we were not at fault), the entire experience left us feeling accused, unheard, and treated very unfairly.

We would not wish to stay at this property again, as the dishonesty and lack of professionalism we encountered has undermined any trust in how Boltholes and Hideaways manages disputes.

Tip for future tenants: take photographs of everything when you arrive, as you cannot rely on Boltholes and Hideaways to act fairly if a dispute arises.

Take heed of the reviews before using this company and search elsewhere for other more professional letting companies.

Beware! Avoid avoid avoid…

Unfortunately I would say be extremely cautious booking with this company. Their customer service is non existent. I have never experienced a holiday letting company like this before. I'd urge you to look carefully at different reviews across different platforms before making your mind up. I've rented many properties over the years with different companies and never once until now felt the need to warn people like this. Yes we've all had good experiences and not so good from time to time but after a very recent holiday,I'd never use Boltholes and Hideaways again. Perhaps some holidays run smoothly but if you look carefully when people reach out their customer service is pretty non existent.

Beware of this letting agency.

Beware of this letting agency.
(And The Old Post Office, Hen Bost, Nefyn)

The owner of the property we just stayed in for 4 days intentionally chose to arrange for builders to rip out and replace part of the roof and joists of the property during our short stay without even a courtesy call. This is not exaggeration. In fact the owner didn't answer a single message during our stay except to communicate with the letting agency.
So we were woken up at 8am one morning by 4 men climbing ladders past the kitchen window and literally ripping the roof off part of the property we had rented. The builder had called the owner that morning to check if it was a convenient time for the work to commence and according to the owner it was.
The property owner then subsequently refused to reimburse any part of our 'bolthole and hideaways' holiday. Or even apologise. Or even communicate at all.
Boltholesandhideaways absolved themselves of all responsibility refering to their pithy statement that "your contract is with the owner" and also refused to make any kind of reimbursement. You can not claim with VISA as the Boltholesandhideaways.co.uk act as an agent for your contract with the property owner. (You pay boltholes but they cannot and will not and don't want to reimburse your money) And VISA can not take it from the owner. Very clever and underhand. Ultimately this means that the property owners and Ceri Williams at Boltholesandhideaways can treat you how ever they want with no risk of reimbursement.
I have videos of the building work, noise and mess (which you wouldn't believe if you did see them)... and the patronising email messages from Ceri Williams at boltholesandhideaways explaining that the work would be 'brief' and to 'enjoy my holiday', which I would be more than happy to share with anyone interested (my Facebook review was removed by boltholes). Ceri Williams also said in her messages that they considered this kind of major building to be "reasonable" during our holiday. We were evicted for the entire day because of the shear racket from the deconstruction happening to the building which continued until after 4pm.
Incidentally, the advertisement of this property also misleads by omission. The owners relatives were living above and behind this apartment with their staircase running through the small bedroom of this 'little hideaway'. So when they were moving around at 5am it felt like they were with us in the bedroom. The property is also perched on the edge of a very busy and noisy road from the early hours with articulated wagons passing at speed about 6ft from the bathroom window and front door of the property. Parking is extremely limited, tight against the walls of the properties opposite and you will very likely have to climb out of one side of the car as I did. There were other issues with cleanliness, mattress was ancient, crunchy and noisy etc ...that I didn't complain about because what's the point. We even bought a new quilt from Asda.
This 'holiday' turned into a truly bizarre and upsetting experience.
Both the property owner Gill Schroeder and Ceri Williams at Boltholes are entirely unprofessional and hostile in their absolute disregard for the families paying the high prices they charge for a 'peaceful break'. Boltholes and hideaways advertisements are false as they indeed failed to provide even the basic comforts of not advertising/letting a property while major building work was scheduled or arranged.
I hope this helps anyone reading this in their decision to use this agency and in particular the old post office, Hen Bost, Nefyn (Mrs Gill Schroeder). I wouldn't expect an answer to this review.
